We’ve played one more game than SCSU, given up 3 more shots on goal for the year, and have given up 33 more goals. Sure there could be better D, better back checking… but don’t kid yourself, the issue for this team is one dimensional. By almost any other metrical this team is very good. The goalies just aren’t stopping the puck. I get it, but anyone who knows hockey sees that these are point blank shots. Goalies aren’t saving the day but the shots we do allow are point blank. Dzone coverage is atrocious. 9 Quote

Will more the likely miss the playoffs for the 3rd time in his tenure. This team hasn’t improved all year no matter how much coach speak we get every week. Time to move on before we don’t matter at all. We are well on our way to becoming Wisconsin. And that is simply unacceptable. If Berry cannot fix it, he needs to go. And if that means "spending other people's money" to buy him out, then so freaking be it. This isn't high school athletics where it's all about "teaching life lessons". The clock is ticking people. 3 2 Quote

I can’t find anything to quantify that assertion. There’s no question that there are lapses. Are those lapses statistically significant or are they more noticeable and memorable due to the puck ending up in the net at a much higher rate when confronted with those situations? It probably a little of both. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 The quiet parts are now going to be said: 9 and 17 are defensive liabilities. See: WMU seventh goal. Four white jerseys at the boards and a shooter sitting open in the slot. They need to be split up. 10 and 19 need to sit. Put in 18 and 26. At this point it's about next season's roster and seeing who can develop over the next 12 games. Our defensemen need to stay on their feet! One of the goals 24 and 3 were both down on the ice trying to block passes and instead hung out 1 worse as they slid through the play. 3 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Someone mentioned next year's defense Gone: 2, 3, 7 Could be gone: 15, 25 Returns: 4, 6, 24 <--the turnover trio (OK, they ice it unnecessarily also) Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I believe they have 4 defenseman coming in next year 3 USHL and 1 bchl Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I think Frisch plays a fifth year , Kleven may not , plays the guys you recruited and develop them into the players you thought they would be , agree 17 and 9 need to be split up both puck hawks all the time. 1 Quote

Oxbow6 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 15 back for next season would be asking a lot of him but would make next year's team markedly better. 2 Quote

jk Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I sadly but apparently thankfully missed it. Curious how Kunz looked. I've felt his first step has been a touch slow this year. Quote

He has no business unless he’s already graduated. He’s not a bad player but pro hockey is not forgiving. I’d stay and develop another year. He’s young, no need to rush things. Unless he doesn’t like the direction the program is going. Quote

Should have just eaten it on the wall. similar to 25, not sure what the point of leaving would be. I’d spend another year developing. Quote

Cross check to the head = fist in the face… 1 Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 So if 15 would take his covid year you would have 15,4,24,6 and 4 freshman , seems like a good mix. If 25 stayed would they run 9 D or someone may hit the portal. Quote
Kevin G Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 This team can score but can't defend. Remember when the narrative was "Berry can recruit defenseman but not forwards!" (Of course now we're all asking, "Can he and his staff recruit some goalies?") Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 So I ask this board what is different from this year and last? Basically the same d corps and they struggle, and not just them them fowards have seem to forgotten they have responsibilities also. 1 Quote
