Our guys battled back in the 3rd, that was a thing of beauty. The angst in the stadium was palpable. Just couldn’t make the play on the stupid 3rd and long. That was the back breaker. I really think Bubba should’ve called a timeout to help the d regroup on that drive. He left them out to dry there.

Overall I feel pretty positive about this team. There are undeniable holes on the roster but I think we can win some games and should be in every game. Need some youngsters to step up.

Plenty of poor offensive performances over the past couple years. He’s not immune to some criticism. 17 points yesterday was by no means an amazing performance. Plenty of work to do. I think the obvious criticism is UND needs more explosive plays. Sure, throwing deep is one way to do it, but simply having more playmakers is another way to accomplish it. issue is, everyone else in the country wants the same thing …

for what UND has, they do alright. But certainly UND could use more explosive talent at not only WR but all the skill positions (including QB).

Well it seems these big programs have hired companies to get NIL money. Did you check out the marketing for the Cornhusker Marketplace? The screen video promoted purchasing clothing and Cornhusker memorabilia there “where a portion of your purchase goes directly to help our student athletes.” They also requested businesses and individuals “donate” to the cause.

Not sure how that works with the college bookstore and alumni organization…also competing for $$ with a school foundation.

Another game I recently attended had their NIL company sponsor a tailgating tent. The company was all over in their t-shirts networking with donors… as far as I could tell….

How did he let everything he built slip away by letting NDSU surpass us by moving D1? How did we let Lennon go? Who was on Lennons coaching staff?

A lot of details go into recruiting. Where you recruit, how you recruit, etc. UND’s facilities are improving and hopefully compensation will as well. There needs to be continual improvement because I agree that the current level of resources is not adequate. NIL is something folks around UND definitely need to look into sooner rather than later. There is a lot of DII talent at certain spots for UND.

Open up that checkbook of yours! NIL, fund HPC2 , something, literally don’t know how we can recruit better players with our resources. You are right we can only scheme to a certain point. How are we getting that talent to UND?

I contribute and will continue to contribute. But I can’t single-handedly fund a DI football program. Last I checked, I don’t have any oil on my property or a casino in Vegas …
 

Need more folks to contribute. Increase popularity. Increase excitement around football and not just hockey. I’m not going to find the WR talent, the full time coaching staff needs to do that with the resources they have, which does need to improve, for sure.

That is a big problem for sure. And I am a Coaches Club member, you are welcome, btw.

We should have had a plan to fully fund a Division l athletic department before we moved up. We are using a Division ll funding model and it simply does not work anymore. Either we do this the right way or we move back down. Or we could drop FB and focus on less expensive sports like MBB and WBB. But I just cannot embrace the status quo.

The point is, it has been done before and it can be done again. You are basically throwing in the towel. I just cannot get excited about perpetual 5-6 seasons.

The funding model obviously has to change. Even if the REA contract was more favorable to UND, we still would need a Division l caliber funding model to fund scholarships, facilities, coaching salaries, FCOA, NIL and whatever else comes up as college athletics continues to change and evolve.

Look around buddy, we are already irrelevant in a lot of respects. The focus should be to fix it. But Chaves just wants to wait and see on everything.
