rochsioux
They’ll need to play better and smarter tomorrow to beat Canada. At least they made it to the gold medal game and they have a chance.

sioux rube
Canada has yet to give up a 5 on 5 goal and have outscored their opponents 41-4. Knight will obviously have to play the game of his life for the boys to have a chance

siouxfaninseattle
Sanderson had a very good game. Great play to pick up an assist on the GWG.
Wilbur
Last three gold medal games between the USA and Canada have gone the way of the USA. Its going to take a special effort from the boys tomorrow. "Great moments are born from great opportunity."

They’re averaging 3.75 goals/game in the other four. The US has 34 goals, 18 of those in two games, averaging 4.0 goals/game in the other four. The key to me is winning the special teams battle. If they lose that they lose the game. Definitely the underdog, they will need to play with the lead and not chase the game. Canada hasn’t been really tested yet late in a game. Looking forward to watching this one.
crb1
Refs will be on the side of the nucks. Some very questionable/non calls this evening.

The delay of games were automatic, but the only penalty Finland got was an extremely dangerous high stick that had to be called. Right before the tying goal the blatant interference on our guy going to the net had to be called, but wasn't. Puck turned over, in our end, delay of game, when we should have been on a power play.
tnt
Since Canada hasn't been behind the whole tournament, it would be nice to get that first goal and play from the lead.

Nope. It'd be nice to go to OT tied at 0-0 ... and then have CAN trail for the first time in the tournament.
The Sicatoka
USA needs to: - play the speed game for the whole game - have Knight play more like the last two games of pool play (he was too active, trying to do too much v. FIN) - not take silly penalties (like the two DOGs over the glass) - sit 5 and play 7 as the seventh defenseman* *5 looks out of sorts out there; it's too fast for him when USA is in the speed game. They can't put him out with anyone but 4 or 8 or it's danger-danger in the USA end; and that wastes 4 or 8 for a shift.

Lacombe will probably play tonight based on his great pass to set up Farinacci's goal, but I don't think he should. He has had some adventures in his own end, but how much can they put him out there against Canada? Kleven likely wouldn't get a ton of shifts either, but I'll take a steady 6'4 200 plus pounder that likes to play physical when playing a team like Canada any day.

LaCombe will definitely play. He's a bit iffy in his own zone however last night was easily his best game. Prior to last night he was definitely the liability on this team. With the offensive defenseman in the lineup...Kleven definitely should play. He has also looked very good in limited minutes, clearly there's more at play here. Again, LaCombe is a very good dman, he's just not playing very well right now. Hopefully last night's good game carries into tonight for him. One of the players we don't seem to hear a lot about is York. His point totals are good but holy moly is he a liability in his own zone. I noticed it earlier in the tourney but I'm almost positive he was out there for every goal last night. If the US plays like they did the past two games I'm sorry...the Canadians will throttle us.

York and Knight are the two that you always hear people just rave about, and then you watch them play and you are left wondering at times how they are first round picks. Like Zegras, Sanderson, Caufield, for sure first round picks. I guess to his credit York does play a ton of minutes against the top lines of the best U20 teams in the world. Agreed...York is not that great in his own zone and is probably put in positions he is not comfortable with. I mean, it's not like UMich is a "shutdown" team. They basically play wagon wheel hockey. Knight has been interesting too....he receives tons of accolades and while good, I have never really seen him steal games or make some sort of ridiculous save. He'll need to play off the chart tonight.

Wilbur
By my count twenty five college hockey players on the rosters for the final tonight out of 50 players. If the game lineups fall the right way a majority of the participants in this world championship game play/have played/will play college hockey.....

Somehow they named York one of the top 3 players of the tournament for the U.S. I disagree with that and also Knight being on it as well. I've really noticed York and Thrun struggle in their own zone. They'd be the bottom 2 USA D for me that have seen regular time throughout the tournament.
