SiouxVolley Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 UND tied with Omaha early in the third set. Omaha has a much higher rating in Massey, so thought victory wasn’t possible in a short week with more needed improvement. 1 Quote
SiouxVolley Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Each successive set, UND has gotten weaker. UND barely won the first set, but after that Omaha has strengthened their advantages with each set. Omaha now leads 20-11, in the 4th set, which will be the final one. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 UND about to be swept by USD: 25-23, 25-13, and 15-7 in the third. USD finished the third set 25-8. USD and Denver are highly rated, and Omaha is just behind them. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 PFW swept UND today. But UND beat WIU Friday, so they are not in last place. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 UND lost to the bison 3-1. UND has also lost to SDSU 3-1 this weekend, and sdsu is historically bad in the sport. Needs some big and tall time recruits. Quote
gfhockey Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 My how far we have dallen hardee sober yet? Quote
CMSioux Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Noticed the crowd wasn't overflowing last night - I know it's a question that can be simply researched but we ended up with one senior this year. However, I'm thinking volleyball is a sport that can be turned around with just a few key players, and the number of seniors doesn't have much to do with that. Quote
Dustin Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 I would say that after the Griffin/Dooley/Merseli graduations, Pryor lost interest in this job and tapped out. Maybe even the year before that, since he knew he was getting them all back once more. I think he thought he couldn't take the program any higher. So, that hurt at least one year of recruiting, possibly two. And the last two years have shown. But, like CMSioux said, the turnaround can be quick, so hopefully Tiffin is on that! Quote
SiouxVolley Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 UND actually beat ORU last night away, 3-2. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 UND lost today to Denver in a rescheduled game 3-0. The scores were closer than I expected. Tiffin had an interview where he said passing was a major issue and their transition game was good. Looks like their making strides in passing. Quote

SiouxVolley Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Lost at PFW today 3-1. Won the third set after being down, but then lost the 4th big time. Beat WIU Friday 3-2. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Remember when volleyball used to be a thing lets get back there 2 Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 UND lost to DU, 3-0. The second set was close, 27-25. Quote
Feff Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Volleyball has fallen fairly far from just a handful of years ago. Is this just a matter of coaches unable to deliver after Hardee screwed himself out of a job? We just needing to find the right fit, or was our success before an aberration? Quote

Recruiting and retention seems to be the issue. Which comes back to coaching. Volleyball players seem to really quit and transfer at a way higher rate than any other sport. Which does make sense when so few play. Did Pryor win with Hardee recruits? Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 UND beats SDSU 3-2 and is 5-0 in fifth sets. They still can make the Summit playoff in Denver. Finish at NDSU and home with ORU, Quote

Griffin-Dooley-Merseli were abnormally great talent for this area. Need to find more as most of that talent goes to P5 schools. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Lost to NDSU last night 3-1. Brueggeman was really good. Other than her was not a good look again last night by UND. 12-17, 4-11 Quote

Remember that Chelsea Moser was on the team that first year, too. There were also a good supporting cast on those teams, like Alivia Fraase (she'd be a senior this year), Julia K, Jordan Vail, Ashley Bruggeman, and Teodora Tepavac (a minor role, but she could get us a serve if we needed it). SiouxVolley Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 So it appears Tiffins great signing is Elizabeth Norris, a two time all state setter, from Michigan. Thought it would be a front line gal, but he knows better for the setting issues. Setters are the QB. Quote
