Philly fans claimed Andy Reid was too old, couldn’t relate to players, looked half asleep on the sidelines and couldn’t coach.

Well, you did start the sentence with "Philly fans" so a lack knowledge was implied.

My son-in-law was with the Eagles his last year. Said Andy was a great coach. However, you need talent and depth especially at NFL and college levels.

meant no disrespect to Reid, I think he's a great coach, just noting that in the context of winning, having an all-time QB certainly doesn't hurt (same with Belichek who was referenced earlier).  Some guys also just mesh in certainly situations.  Other than the 82 Braves, Joe Torre's managerial career was pretty ho-hum, but he came to the Yankees at just the right time, and having multiple all-time greats didn't hurt.  I don't think he became noticeably smart baseball wise, he was just in the right place at the right time.  That's what most of life is about.

Can't believe after the national search, the 3 best were all current or former UND coaches!

I learn today UND has had some of the best coaches in the nation!

Or hear me out....UND got a couple applicants that had great resumes but they only reason that they were interested is because of their ties to UND.

I'm really disappointed. This whole tracking tail numbers thing turned out to be a farce. I spent hours and hours on that and I could have just as well learned how to use an abacus for all the good it did me.

I do like the Schmidt higher though.  He has to have learned a lot from DeBoer and were going to find out if the DeBoer coaching tree is going to produce.

Caruso decided he wants to be the John Gagliardi of the Pioneer league so he dropped out of the running

My source says OC will be Kenny Dillingham.

He applied and interviewed.

Don't shoot the messenger...

Is Eric willing to wait or is KD turning in his resignation and handing the reins over to Charlie Ragle?

Not sure. They played kickball together once in grade school is all I know.

Agree. I suspect that he learned and matured as a coach along the way. If one doesn’t learn from their failures/struggles, then they are missing an opportunity to improve.

Well, most of us on this board never learn either, so it is par for the course.  How many times do fans go off in the first half, quarter, or period about how horrible everything is, only to have the game turnaround and have to change their tune?  Then the very next game or so, they still don't let it play itself out.

I think great players allow coaches more options to be successful.

Agree with that.  Great coaches know what to do with the great players they have, that's the difference.  People act like it always happens, coaches mess things up with talented kids quite often.  A coach should never apologize for having dudes to scheme for.

... recently, about 70 hours ago about a game in Oxford, Ohio ...
