cowboys5xsbs Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-football/4250184-schlossman-sioux-falls-regional-2018 So I saw this today. Anybody have any information on the arena if this were to happen? How does it compare to Fargo? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Smaller than REA; roughly 2x capacity of Scheels. Quote
cowboys5xsbs Posted April 13, 2017 Author Posted April 13, 2017 Just now, The Sicatoka said: Smaller than REA; roughly 2x capacity of Scheels. Nice sounds like a pretty good venue Quote

Wildfan Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 It is a very nice facility. If I remember right it was built similar to one of the NHL rinks in the region just on a smaller scale. It has great hockey sightlines. 1 Quote
crb1 Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Not a fan of the Siouxfalls regional. Would much rather see it in Fargo. 1 Quote
Sioux Fan in Sioux Falls Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 When they were building this facility ("The Denny"), the facility planners actually spent quite a bit of time up at The Ralph to gather inspiration. I agree with Wildfan...the sightlines are great throughout the arena! The Denny & Sioux Falls has successfully hosted other NCAA tourneys (basketball). Fingers crossed UND gets to host the West Regional here in my backyard! The preparty before the official preparty at my place! 4 Quote
MafiaMan Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Stunned that @Sioux Fan in Sioux Falls would be in favor of this selection. STUNNED, I tell you! 3 Quote
Sioux Fan in Sioux Falls Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 And I thought you knew me well, @MafiaMan! Quote
cberkas Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 With Sioux Falls putting in a bid. Think if Bismarck let that guy build that new arena to replace the Civic Center, then there would be a possibility to have an other regional in the state. 1 Quote

I can already imagine the electric atmosphere in there for a regional, that looks like a really nice arena. It would be pretty great having the regionals in Sioux Falls followed by the Frozen Four in St Paul! #Driveto9 literally 2 Quote
Trunk Monkey Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 It is a great venue! Plus it is only 5 miles from my house. Very excited for this to be in the hostile and abusive city of Sioux Falls! 3 Quote
southpaw Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Very surprised an arena built in 2014 doesn't have widescreen video boards especially being less than an hour from Daktronics headquarters. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I just really looked at the ice in The Denny. (Picture above.) About the only space without an advertisement on it is the goalie crease. The NCAA will need a lot of whitewash there. Quote

franchise Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 And Sioux Falls has a diner with banana bread French toast 1 Quote
Boogieman Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Mrs. Boogieman and I have been to a couple of concerts at The Denny as we are big concert goers. Impressive facility. Plenty of lodging within a few blocks, and connected to the center much like the Alerus/Canad situation. Sioux Falls is a pretty cool city to spend a weekend in. Downtown has a lot going for it! 1 Quote

Those advertisements bring in $400,000 total or $50,000 each that's not including the main center ice one. I'm going by what Colorado College I want to say PR guy said how much on ice adds cost.
