fightingsioux4life Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 I am thrilled that the MBB team has had so much success this year, but anyone who says they saw it coming are not being totally honest. This is the first Jones coached team to really fulfill their potential. 1 Quote

Amazing to win the title Ever ..Figuring things out has nothing to do with winning a conference championship if that was the case the same coach would win every year.. Rahe at Weber gets 350K Mens Hoops is the the schools Signature Sport. Their arena holds 13k fans.... They should win almost every year... UND winning is unbelievable ...how often does lowest paid coach win the Title.... With Jones UND basketball has ALWAYS got more out than they put in. Lowest Paid coach ...Never Finished Last Quote

If Jones continues to win, I'm obviously fine with him continuing to lead UND men's basketball. However, to your point, if UND goes on another stretch of unaccomplishment, then UND needs to hire someone valued at the "Big Sky level". Quote

Lowest Paid coach ...Never Finished Last Well, in the past 5 seasons, Weber State and Rahe have done well (2 out of 5 [40%] seasons both regular season and conference tournament champions). With that said, he won the conference regular season and conference tournament his first season (2006-2007) which set the table for his tenure and salary. Jones' program did not win the BSC regular season until his fifth try. Quote

That's over a 4-fold increase; makes little sense to quadruple the salary when one could remove the "less valued" and hire with double the salary. Also, quadrupling the salary is not plausible. Quote

There are many factors besides salary to consider. 1 Quote

Some of that might go to Jackson and Shaw, or they have a separate contract for them. Quote

Weber may pay their coach close to that because to Weber basketball is their #1 sport. Men's basketball is roughly in the 3 to 4 spot battling with women's basketball. Jones has 19 wins this season the most since the 2010-11 season, 14 conference wins the most ever, so this is the greatest season (SINGULAR) ever in his 11th seasons at UND. He loses one of the greatest players ever to be at UND, will the team keep up the same hype next season? I think for winning the regular season give him a one year extension. Make it to the dance and extend his contract to include his first season into the Summit League. I would think UND, if given an extension, would give him a raise for winning the conference. No way its 400k, or else give Bubba a salary like Nick Saban for the job he did turning the football program around. Quote

Now, did that with around $400000 in 4 head coach salaries: VB, FB, WBB, MBB. Don't need to pay one coach $400,000. Coaches are now/should getting their raises for accomplishments, would assume Jones will also, even with our challenging budget finances. 1 Quote
