ABD is my motto for the Frozen Four... Anyone but Duluth

Would be sort of funny to have Notre Dame win and then have Big Ten fans claim it as a Big Ten title next year.

It's funny you say that because I was thinking the exact same thing watching their game last night.

HA - I thought the same thing.  You KNOW DaveK and others would include that in their totals for sure.  Heck, he's already told us that the B-one-G conference has 23 national championships, or something along those lines.

Only a conference as great as the Big6 could win 23 national championships in 4 years. Incredible!

And only one played in the Frozen Four as the B1G team.

He tweeted it.

Oh, you're talking about the grandkid Lou, not grandpa Lou.  That's quite a difference.

I assumed "the" Lou Nanne was stepping away from all things hockey, and that didn't make sense to me.

Yes the grandson, Tyler hasn't played in two years so he might be next to retire.

I was on my phone at the time so I couldn't copy the tweet.

While I don't doubt the Omaha opening prompted them to announce this now, I highly doubt that it is the sole reason for this. Hastings only has 1 year left on his contract and we all know how coaches use that to leverage new contracts. Also, 10 year contracts are almost unheard of. There is no way that they just started talking about this in the last week. Lastly, this is coming along with additional investments in the program including total cost of attendance, bigger recruiting budgets, and more facility upgrades.

Reading the tea leaves...id guess this has been in the works for months in an effort to bolster the case to join the nchc. My understanding is the administration was caught very off guard when they didn't get approved. In my opinion they understand that apathy is starting to set on and they need to get with umd, scsu, and und as soon as possible to stem the tide.

That's just my thought though.

I'll say Omaha is a better job then Mankato is. You can make an argument that the 10 year contract is to help get Mankato into the NCHC. I think it's to keep Hasting from getting poached by other schools like Omaha and Minnesota when Lucia finally retires.

No worry about Minnesota...Mike Guentzel is the coach-in-waiting and will take over as the head guy when Don Lucia retires in 2057.

The skating gear...one of the great jerseys of all-time.

That's a gear?  I always thought it was a puck...
