MafiaMan
Interesting, yes, but I find it sad. Overtook the south, broke away from California, in 1964, no, 1864, and Abraham Lincoln was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. God help America. No wonder this country is in the current state it is in.

The Sicatoka
Mike Judge set "Idiocracy" in 2505. I think he could roll that back at least 300 years. Not sure what "Idiocracy" is? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy It's a satirical, yet scary, look at "a dystopian society where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism have run rampant and that is devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights." And when I see things like "Mark Dice" and "Watter's World" I fear we are nearly there.
Oxbow6
Our founding fathers would be shocked and disgusted in how far this country has tilted away from their original concept of independence and freedoms in today's American society.

Ice Arena Man
I have learned a lot about history by attending final four hockey tourneys in DC, Philly and Boston. In DC I saw the flag that flew over Fort McHenry, smithsonion institution, and the White House, In Philly visited Independence Hall and Liberty Bell, and in Boston walked the Freedom Trail and learned all about SAMUEL ADAMS. HAve a Happy and safe fourth of July.
GeauxSioux
Too late. We are under tyranny.Time to take care of yourself. I have a quote from Thomas Jefferson in my signature line along those lines... Thomas Jefferson... "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." Bring back Liberty. We are heading down the wrong path in regards to liberty and tyranny. I asked some of the questions, that Dice asked, in my office and I got some of the same responses that Dice got. Not surprisingly, the people that didn't know, don't vote the same way that I do. I then went home and asked my kids the questions. They knew the answers and started telling me that July 2nd really should have been Independence Day, since that is when the founding fathers voted on it and that Adams wanted July 2nd to be THE day. Teach your children and we may be able to turn this boat around one day.

MafiaMan
Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both dying on July 4th, 1826, is one of the biggest coincidences I can think of in terms of the history of this country. Jefferson was 82 years old, Adams 90. True patriots, both of them.
