MafiaMan Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 vs. I'm concerned about the "Hak vs. Blais" match-up not panning out because when the potential of something taking place is discussed too much (like it is in the thread on this forum), IT WINDS UP NEVER HAPPENING! All week long I heard about how Michigan State could be this year's UConn and win the NCAA basketball title while taking out a 39-0 Kentucky team in the process. Sure enough, the Spartans get run out of the gym by Duke last night and Kentucky is promptly upset by Wisconsin! The Kansas City Royals winning the World Series? Of course the Giants had to break everyone's heart. Peyton Manning winning the Super Bowl two years ago? They're gonna KILL Seattle! Go figure, right? So, enough about Hak vs. Blais and North Dakota vs. Omaha for the title - it's time to discuss Providence vs. Boston U in the title game - the true "dream" match-up! Without further ado, here are the top five reasons why Providence College vs Boston U is the game we should all be hoping for: #5) Because Boston is better than anywhere else in America. Just ask someone who lives there. #4) You mean they actually play college hockey west of UConn? When did THAT start? #3) Nobody really cares about those western teams anyways. Do they even have electricity and running water in Omaha and Grand Forks? #2) Because Dave Starman and the rest of those NCHC homers can go home and we can listen to the HE "professionals" during title game coverage. It never gets old hearing someone say "twisted wrist-ah" or "wicked hodd slap shot." and, most importantly, #1) Because "New England" and Boston in particular, have never won ANYTHING major in sports and it's about time they did! 1 Quote

Cratter Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 The east has much better hockey than the west. Quote
stoneySIOUX Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Lol. Can it be Thursday, yet? We're all getting a little punch drunk, methinks. Quote

MafiaMan Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Seriously, though, I need to add a skating Friar jersey to the collection...and SOON! Quote
MafiaMan Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 17 pages of Hak vs Blais...8 replies here before this one by me made it 9. Talk about it too much and it never happens. I rest my case. Quote

MafiaMan Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 2006: UND loses to BC, who loses to Wisconsin. 2007: UND loses to BC, who loses to Michigan State. 2011: UND loses to Michigan, who loses to UMD. 2014: UND loses to Minnesota, who loses to Union. 2015: UND loses to BU. I like Providence College's chances on Saturday. Yes, 2008 was an anomaly as UND lost to BC, who went on to defeat Notre Dame for the title, but I'm ignoring that game. If PC does defeat BU, since 2006, the team that defeats UND in the semi-finals will have a 1-5 record in the championship game. Quote
Cratter Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Counting this year, the East has won 7 of the last 8 National Championships. Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Counting this year, the East has won 7 of the last 8 National Championships. Honest question. Is the style of play that much different out East then it is out here in the West? Quote
scpa0305 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Honest question. Is the style of play that much different out East then it is out here in the West? No. One could argue the east is now producing more talent. Quote
Fightin' Indigenous Person Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 No. One could argue the east is now producing more talent. On the BU roster, it has players from Alberta, British Columbia, California, Minnesota & Texas. UND's failures are not related to lack of talent in the West, or from lack of coaching. I believe that it is more about recruiting. Hockey East is more open to smaller, faster, more creative players and it recruits across North America to get them. Those kinds of players don't seem to get a chance out West. Quote
MafiaMan Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 I really like Providence's chances to pull off the upset tonight. Quote
dagies Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Noticed a quote by a Providence player in a story following the game. Gillies said "We truly believe that once you get in (the tournament) that that's the hard part. Any team can take it." By that logic, the hard work and biggest accomplishment is making the NCAA tournament. Then you have a 1/16th chance to win the thing. Quote
cberkas Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Looked like the stick was caught in the Providence players equipment, BU power play Quote
