geaux_sioux
We played well in almost all phases this weekend. The glaring deficiency was faceoffs. We got killed at the dot. That could pose a problem and could cost us a title.

snova4
I think Schloss had a stat saying we actually dominated face offs against st cloud I thought I saw towards the end of the game that we were pretty solid again in faceoffs. Stay out of the box. Don't make bonehead mistakes. Finally, keep a body on Eichel. Make him feel like he's wearing a North Dakota jersey. Do this, and I like the boys chances.
geaux_sioux
I felt like Quinipiac killed us on faceoffs. Also last night didn't seem like we dominated faceoffs. I didn't count but that's how it felt. What were the numbers?

geaux_sioux
Interesting stats from last night: SCSU hit the net on only 30% of shots with another 30% being blocked, UND hit the net 50% of the time. Not only is Zane the best in the nation but the guys in front are selling out to help him.
snova4
Watching on TV last night was crazy with the shot blocking. It was all the announcers were talking about, how St. Cloud couldn't get anything through to Zane after the first goal.

burd
It's true; we were struggling to win faceoffs, especially on the pk. They've obviously been working on it.
Big A HG
There should be a rule on this forum like other forums to clean up threads like this. Â Â This is how this thread should have gone: "We Could Lose The Frozen Four On Faceoffs" Â Insert: Â Information and reasoning behind why UND could lose a Frozen Four from faceoffs. Â Include, and cite, pertinent statistical information and/or other useful information. Â Â Instead, no reasoning at all was used, no stats to back it up, and false accusations about our most recent game. Â Â

There were a lot of important faceoffs lost this weekend. Every other phase was rock solid.
siouxforce19
This is ridiculous.  We need to stop finding things to complain about.
GDPritch
Well, playing devil's advocate (and in defense of geaux_sioux), the Sioux could of lost to St Cloud 1-0 if you recall how the fat dogs scored their only goal very early in the first period.  Face-offs may seem nit-noid in the big picture, but that's how we gave up our lone goal. But overall, yes, great effort by the boys.    4 STRAIGHT =
82SiouxGuy
Basically 50-50 is not good enough. There were a lot of important faceoffs lost this weekend. Every other phase was rock solid. UND lost the faceoff battle to Quinnipiac 39-33, won the game 4-1. UND won the faceoff battle with St Cloud State 38-28, won the game 4-1. Does that prove your point? There are a lot of different factors that could decide a game. That includes a fluke goal, several of which were scored this weekend in UND games and in other games.
geaux_sioux
The point that I'm making with this is that the one weakness of this very well rounded team is that they don't have 4 guys that can consistsntly win faceoffs like we've had in the past. If we get a lot of penalties in Boston, we play BU in their home town, it could bite us in the ass on the pk.

cberkas
To me it matters more of what the players do immediately after the faceoff. If you win the faceoff and ring the puck around the boards and the other team gets the puck. Did it really matter that you won the faceoff? The St. Cloud goal was because Ausmus didn't take his man of the faceoff.

90siouxfan
What exactly qualifies as a face off win? Obviously a draw back to the defenseman, but what is the determination on the scrum in the circle and what transpires?

A faceoff win goes to the team who posses the puck directly after the draw
