Intro still sucks

Team is hungrier than ever and looks good. Need to improve the kicking game and the overall depth of the team, but Schmidt and coaches are doing their job well thus far.

As for the Alerus Center and UND marketing/in-game production…. this needs to improve. I suspect the Alerus will figure out the sound system as this was game #1, but come on, get the intro and the “701 tunnel walk” figured the f*ck out. The geriatric unit in the Alerus is half sleeping by the time the team hits the field…. No juice at all. It’s one thing to get the butts in the seats, but then you’ve got to be able to juice up and entertain those butts in the seats to keep them in the game. Not to mention, f*ck those people that don’t want to stand and get into the game. They can watch the game at home on their TV in their wheelchair if they want to try suppress excitement around them.

Absolutely unacceptable. Alerus Center and UND need to continue to hear about this until there is change. It would ONLY improve the product so foolish not to do it. Only barrier is it requires “work”, but they need to do their damn job … or find somebody else who will get the job done.

Every school that is worth a damn gets this right. As much as I hate NDSU, running out to Thunderstruck is really cool

Pretty much every school that knows what they are doing figures this out.. NDSu clearly has. This would be unacceptable at UND hockey.. I’m not sure why we mail it in for UND football and allow this significantly below average audio and intro.  It’s really pretty embarrassing.

Honestly the whole pre-game sequence from when the band goes onto the field to the team coming out could use a whole rebuild. It feels dated and just doesn't get the crowd hyped the way it should.

I remember going to a game back in 2016/2017 when the hockey team had the Hall of Fame game, since some of the band didn't travel, they just had them line up to create a channel for the team to run through (i.e. Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Michigan, etc.) and obviously didn't play any music. For music they played "Enter Sandman" I think which the team came out late on because nobody told the team, yeah listening to "Enter Sandman" by Metallica until the very end when the team ran out while in the dark was an interesting experience and then immediately going into a recording of "Stand Up and Cheer".

While it had promise, the downside to it was that the team was just awful back then and games required at minimum 5 cups of coffee to get to half time and leave because it was blowout in favor of the opponent which nobody knew because we were in the in Big Sky conference, and nobody fan wise really showed up back then.

At minimum we should at least get a camera of the hallway walk with either "Enter Sandman" or "Welcome to the Jungle" next season. It says something when High School football teams can get an intro song and UND is like "best we got is something"

how about the team goes up to the concourse level and each section gets 20 players and they all enter the field from the stands getting high fives on the way down the ailes to the field?

I remember at the SDSU game last year, a couple of high schoolers who were SDSU fans were laughing at our whole pre game thing. Hard reset is needed

The truth can hurt. Need a hard reset. Template to follow is pretty straightforward, and I’m afraid it’s not players walking down the stands …….. holy

Take out the geriatrics and half the crowd is gone.

the oldies in our section stand and yell as much as anyone.

at least most won’t have hangovers the next day

No one said there is an age restriction or alcohol consumption requirement, but there certainly should not be an “excitement restriction”.

Need to amp up the energy and production within the Alerus Center, and everyone is a stakeholder: fans (all ages) in attendance, Alerus Center staff, UND staff, and most importantly, the product on the field. Need to allow enthusiastic fans to be enthusiastic, and grow the product - certainly do not try to suppress the momentum and energy growing with this new era of UND football. This is not a blanket statement, but some in attendance need to be reminded that football and the associated atmosphere is one of volume, energy, and passion.

Not arguing your points but - How about they control the easy stuff. Like have a PA system that works.

they were screwing around with it before the game to get the ref’s mic working properly. Somehow that broke the PA. When PA came back and was addible - the refs mic didn’t work at all. Junior high stuff

We need higher expectations than this. Need a PA system that functions *AND* a higher-level atmosphere with an energy-provoking tunnel walk and entrance, not either or.

sorry to disappoint you with my "low" expectations.  I said I agree with your points.  Just pointing out that they aren't even handling the easy stuff.

Does anyone happen to know if this is one of the assistant AD jobs? I would think that somebody would have football as their primary focus and that would include the game day experience? Might be nice to correspond with them directly.

Your particular expectations aren’t the issue and that is not the focus, so don’t take that from any of this.

The focus is simply getting this right. It should all be “easy”, considering this has been a concern for years, not just for this one game. There has been ample time to proof the sound system and develop a contemporary tunnel walk and team entrance, but yet here we are …

Martinson oversees gameday operations I think?

imagine being the guy that came up with the idea of putting the whole football team on buses and bus em to the opposite side of the stadium and have them run downhill thru the crowd?????

and the walkup from the tunnel with angry looking old men coaches is so overdone....think out side the box a little

If you have not seen the Montana St Cats run out clip from Saturday night track it down. Pyrotechnics, mounted horses, music blaring then throw on the backdrop of the mountains. Meanwhile in the Alerus........

We need to shine a light on what is obviously a lack of priority and an inbalance of support. I know we get criticized for comparing any sport to hockey but UND has the resources to support them all.

Hockey has The Ralph staff and resources fully focused on them. It shows in the game day atmosphere.

Football at The Alerius basically means they open the doors and look for revenue sources from the fans.

The football entrance is a prime example, it is actually less than it was a few years ago. Who could defend that?

They had a year to create something and obviously no one cared. They have two weeks to address it, history shows they probably won't and if asked would just have excuses. Something is better than nothing which is what we have now.

We have top level facilities and a bush league game day experience.
