bincitysioux Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I would really like for Hooker to be more of a scorer. I feel he is the best overall player on the team. He is one of the few guys that can finish and if he can draw fouls, he is one of the few guys that can hit his free throws. Quote
UND1983 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Agreed. He is the one player who seems under control out there at all times. The leader of the team. Quote
siouxfan68 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 He played 39 minutes, was 6-8 from the field, 3 assists and 1 turnover. Great game!!! Quote
Csonked Out Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Is it possible for Nash to actually make a !@#$ when he drives it to the hole. I swear he missed every dman one Quote
nodakhoops Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Far and away the best player on the team IMHO. I don't think he is at 100% either. UND needs him to get healthy before conference. I really like the makeup of UNDs backcourt this the next few years with Hooker being the leader. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 If Hooker can start knocking down 3's at a good clip he will be one of the better guards in the conference. Nice start to the conference season scoring a shade over 14 ppgs and increasing his assist totals. 10 assists in the last 2 games isn't shaby. Keep it up. Quote
sioux24/7 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Best player on the team and its not really close. His body control is so great. He's a joy to watch. 1 Quote
jdub27 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I really think him and Shanks can be a great combo. Hooker seems to know where to put passes and Shanks looks like he can get position down low. They've had a few nice connections and drive and dumps, though a couple of the passes have been a little too hard but were there. Hopefully they can keep it up. And I agree that Hooker needs to take more shots. Quote

The guards will be fun to watch once again next year. Quote
gfhockey Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I see Cortez was nominated for Micky d s all American game Quote
sioux24/7 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I see Cortez was nominated for Micky d s all American game One of 823 but that's boys and girls so I assume one of about 410+ nominated and is cut down to 24 on January 28th. Quote
bincitysioux Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Hooker is going to be Big Sky POY material when he is a senior. Quote
sioux24/7 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Hooker is already something special, but if he can figure out his 3-pt shot, oh my we will have something REALLY special on our hands. If Crandall is what has been advertised, we are going to have a special backcourt the next couple of years. Quote
Teeder11 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Cashman also showed Flashes of what he could become this week. Quote
nodakhoops Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 College game is really starting to slow down for him. I think I agree in that he could challenge for conference POY in 2 years. I think he is quite a bit further along at being a complete player (scoring, defense, sharing the ball, being a leader) than Huff at the same stage in his sophomore year. Seems to have a great head on his shoulders as well. I've said it before. but our guards next year with Hooker TDR Tyler, Crandall, and Seales could be really good. Also will be good having TDR and Tyler as Seniors so the two Fr can grow into their roles. To add to 24/7 comment on Crandall, I know it's been said before but he is not redshirting because of lack of talent..He has the potential to be all conference caliber from what I've heard. Quote
MoSiouxFan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Hooker is going to be Big Sky POY material when he is a junior. FIFY. Quote
FightingSioux87 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Crandall has it all. None of our starting 3 guards can stop him in practice. He will have a great career for us in the next 4 years. Hooker will continue to get better. He's the leader on the team and has great vision. As previously mentioned, if he could shoot the 3 more consistently and shoot more often he could become a greater threat. We are positioned to make some noise in the BSC the next few years! Quote

Hooker can't stop him? Surprised beings Hooker plays some great defense and has strength but Geno has the height. Quote
UND Fan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I agree that we should be set at guard for the next few years (although I wish we had more size there) and we should be set at the 5 as well. However, we need to find a couple of bangers at the 4 or our rebounding challenges will continue. I don't think there are any on the current roster and we don't have scholarship $ available to go find any (unless someone doesn't return). Quote
hoopster Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Seales likely play the 3 next season where UND needs help. Brickstine is a finesse forward who is pretty skilled and athletic and should be a solid 4. Rebounding looks to be weak again next season but the teams skill level should improve. Extra team summer practice and Euro tour should provide a a glimpse of how the 3 key new guys Seales, Brickstine and Geno fit in. Quote
dmksioux Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Rather timely article http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-basketball/3669541-und-point-guard-emerging-star Quote
sioux24/7 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hooker is clearly our best player, its not even close. My question is what does he have to do in his junior and senior season to get looks from the NBA and possibly being drafted? I think it is probably a long shot beings he doesn't have much height and probably isn't fast enough to overcome that. I just think it is interesting to think about. Quote
jdub27 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 He has been worth the price of admission alone all year. Really enjoy watching him play. He took over in the second half yesterday, more of that would be just fine. Hope he keeps works on his outside shooting, would really round out his game. I'd guess Lillard would be a good comparison for where he needs to be to get a shot. Quote
sioux24/7 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I don't know if there are very many players in the Big Sky that I would take over him. Tyler Harvey is one but other than that the list has to be short. Quote
hoopster Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hooker might make Big Sky honorable mention this year. Nice player but not one of the best Quote
