JaySioux
So if schmaltz is still out, Sanderson is a scratch and according to spa0360 Chyzyk is out this weekend. I am wondering what others think will happen this next weekend, will Wade Murphy be in the line up? Or does Poolman play up front again? I was not able to watch or listen to Saturdays game so I'm curious as to what all of you think this upcoming weekend.

Oxbow6
I think w Murphy his type of play dictates he plays a top 6 role but with no production to date I don't think he can be in the lineup at this point. Coming to UND he was a goal scorer...not sure what's happened. Thought Poolman looked more comfortable as the game went along. The freshman line looked very solid. Olson and Pogs are going to be very very good and IMO Simonson is very underrated. If OD can play with some consistency like he did last night that could be some secondary scoring support this team needs.
Oxbow6
If it's not Murphy, I would go with Panzarella. I'm not ready to give up on Murphy Panz w Pattyn and Gaarder is not a bad option. Plus Panz can play some D on the PK if needed.
JaySioux
I thought Panz filled in real well last year.

However, I did see him at the game and he was wearing a sling. To answer the question, I think we see a similar lineup next Friday. I thought Mattson looked pretty good so I'm guessing he plays. Poolman looked the part too at forward. I still would like to see Stecher at forward but his d pairing has played too well to split up. SiouxForever
They should demote Murphy to the club team for a bit. He needs to score a few goals to get the monkey off his back :-) . HIs biggest problem is confidence right now. Friday night he looked okay and also tossed his body around a bit (you don''t generally seem him do that). I think once he gets that first goal his game will come back. Can you imagine almost playing 1 1/2 years of hockey and not scoring a goal when you were a decent sniper your whole life? Must be difficult. It'll come. Well, for his sake, I sure hope so... P.S. it's not easy scoring goals in college hockey. Look at Taylor Cammarta for the Gophers, 1 goal in 10 games? Yikes! Completely agree with you on this. A lot of fans have given up on Murph but Im actually hoping he figures it out. We need him for the next 2.5 years. Regarding your last comment.....you did forget to mention he has 10 assists in 10 games. That's really good.

Don't think Murphy has been a liability defensively, but he hasn't found it yet and others might add the harder to play against label. That said, it is nice to have that player fighting to get back in the lineup and eventually prove themselves under game conditions. Like that competition for playing time that they have at all positions but goaltending.
brianvf
I bet Schmaltz plays this weekend. Then the rest can just sort itself out.
Oxbow6
I bet Schmaltz plays this weekend. Then the rest can just sort itself out. Was thinking that as well...so on a potential thread hijack who will be his linemates? My guess is LJ and OD with Colton dropping down with Gaarder and Pattyn. NS back gets Poolman back at D. I still think Murphy sits especially as well as the Fr. line played Saturday and because he isn't a fit replacing Colton on 3rd line. He is much too valuable at D and in my opinion has been our best and most consistent D all year. The kid brings way too much from the backend to move him up and he and Ausmus have been really good this year.

Just been waaaay too good this year.
siouxforcefans
Thought I heard that not everyone traveled to St. Cloud, so options were limited on Saturday after Bryn went down. That might've been the reason behind Poolman up front instead of bringing in a Panzarella or Sanderson, since they weren't there? It's also entirely possible the person saying that didn't have their facts straight, but I'm just wondering if it might be true. :shug:

Jayson said something about it during the live chat on Friday night I think. Olson was the only extra forward they brought.
scpa0305
Yeah. Not a chance Stetcher moves to forward. Just been waaaay too good this year. I don't really expect to see it but just thought it would be interesting.
The Sicatoka
Regarding the question that started this thread, the answer is "both" until we get healthy.
