homer Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Sporting News pegs UND 11th. I could see that if they look at the seniors we lost. I think we'll be a better team at seasons end next year than we were this past year. Quote
NODAK13 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Sporting news doesn't know $#!+ Have to agree with you , however if an outside person looked at what we lost and that these seniors we lost have carried this program for 4 straight years I would probably come to the same result. I don't see us doing nearly as well as the last 2 years in the Big Sky but don't believe we are 11th. Quote
niouxsiouxfan Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Anyone hear about tipoff/open scrimmage date yet, to kick off the season? Quote
hoops44 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 After watching the Mpls. inner city all star basketball games on you tube and comparing Hooker 2013 and Crandall 2014 It is clear that Geno plays at a higher level. Play by play guy who is a basketball AAU and High School said Geno is a High D1 talent and that UND got a steal. Looks like Geno will start this year ... Quote

I've always thought the Minneapolis metropolitan area is rich with DI basketball talent every year. If UND can get a top player to commit annually form that area, UND basketball will be in good shape. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Here is my take on the 3 incoming freshman and their chances of playing from day 1 Crandall: 80% Cashman: 50% Sheilds: 0% Quote

UND Fan Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Roster is posted - everyone returns. That surprises me a bit. I thought one or two of these wouldn't be back: Benton, Antwi, Hobaugh & Blake. I realize a couple of them are and a couple aren't on scholarship. I don't see any of them seeing much action! I had heard that the Richman kid from Tower City might be walking on - and he has. Quote
sioux24/7 Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 Antwi is a solid player. Good shooter off the bench and provides solid defense. Quote

homer Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 @UNDMBasketball: The NCAA has granted Terrel de Rouen a waiver to play immediately after transferring from New Mexico State during the summer #BigSkyMBB Glad to hear. That is good news. I'm not sure what our back court will look like this year but it sounds like there will be options and it should be competitive for playing time. Quote
bincitysioux Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Anyone care to take a stab at the starting 5 and the top reserves that will see significant minutes? Quote
jdub27 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Anyone hear about tipoff/open scrimmage date yet, to kick off the season? Not quite the same but something from the Jr Champions newsletter: Kids, be sure to mark your calendar for the first ever North Dakota Basketball Fan Fest on Saturday, October 18th at 2 pm in the Betty. This is your chance to get autographs, take pictures, and learn basketball skills from your favorite student-athletes! All for FREE! It will also be the first opportunity to pick-up the new men's and women's basketball posters for the 2014-15 season, and parents will be able to shoot a half-court shot for a FREE basketball season ticket! Don't miss out on this great event! Quote
bounce Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Terrel listed as a JR. Nash 6'185 is he really that skinny? Geno listed at 6'2 175 and he is pretty skinny. Quote
UND92,96 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I am interested to see what happens at the 5 position. The offensive production from that position was really lacking last year without Brekke, and I would not be all that surprised if Cashman gets a serious look to possibly even start. Quote

The 5 position once again will be our weakest spot and I don't really see any of them doing that much to help but the good news is I believe we have 4 at that position so maybe one of the four can develop into something. Calcaterra and Salmonson combined for about 5 ppg and 3.5 rbg last year while collectively playing about 21 minutes per game. Unless one or both has greatly improved, if Cashman and/or Shanks can show any kind of offensive ability, and be competent on defense and on the boards, it would appear playing time is there for the taking. Quote
bounce Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 With 4 bigs Cashman is a redshirt candidate. Not a high rated or heavily recruited player so tough to see him separating himself from two 5th year seniors. Would be nice to split the 2 bigs Shanks and Cashman up class wise. The 5 looks like a soft spot in lineup so Cashman may be good enough to score minutes this season. Quote
