lawkota Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Bradley was not fired after the 2010 World Cup, in fact he was signed to an extension following the tournament. He was fired after the team's lousy performance in the 2011 Gold Cup. But hey, why let facts get in the way. 3 Quote

cberkas Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 The 2010 USA World Cup team under preformed after finishing second to Brazil in the Confederations Cup in 2009, which the USA was leading 2-0 at half before Brazil came back and won 3-2. The 2010 World Cup team was a better team then the 2014 World Cup and should have won the group easily. The 2010 team should have made it to the quarter-finals and possibly the semi-finals. The 2014 World Cup team was told they can't win a game, they will get blown out in every game, and they would be lucky to get a point. The game against Germany the USA looked like they were playing for a draw and Germany was playing for the win. I thought the USA could have beaten Belgium, which Belgium is pretty much a All-Star team, and if they could find a way to contain Messi they could beat Argentina. Quote
cberkas Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Brazil lost a key part of their offense, Neymar broke the third vertebra in the lumbar region of his back and is out for the rest of the World Cup. Quote
keikla Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Interesting move by the Dutch yesterday that ended up paying off. With just a few seconds left in stoppage time, they switched out goalies, sending in a cold keeper to face Costa Rica in the penalty kicks. I'm assuming the fresh guy had a history of doing stellar stopping penalty kicks, and that's why they made the last second switch. At any rate, he stopped two of them, leading the Netherlands to victory. Quote

Blackheart Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 We're the Dutch playing in wooden shoes? These 0-0 games drive me nuts... Quote

Yes, a rousing success in 2010...so much so that he was given an extension...then a couple of bad losses a year later, he's canned. Quote
MafiaMan Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 Well it took extra time for both teams to score and the USA almost scored at the 90th minute. I look at it this way, if the USA can be within a goal of teams better then them and weather the storm they have a chance to beat better teams. Almost all of these games are decided by a single goal. USA was an average goalie performance away from losing 4 or 5 to 0 to Belgium. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 USA was an average goalie performance away from losing 4 or 5 to 0 to Belgium. This...^^^^^^. Howard was sensational. Quote

UNDBIZ Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Germany up 3-0 over Brazil 24 minutes in. This one could get ugly...... Edit: Make that 4-0 at the 25 minute mark. Edit#2: 5-0 at the 28 minute mark. Quote
Hayduke Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 5-0 Germany is just toying with them now. WTF? Just woke up from a nap. Thought you were joking. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Lose your captain for the semi-finals because he takes a stupid penalty in the quarter-finals. Lose your best offensive weapon to a chipped vertebrae due to a knee in the back. But then put a stamp on in and mail it in ... in front of the home crowd. Welcome to a top five worst day in Brazilian history. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Brazil looks softer than any Gopher hockey squad from years past. Embarrassing.......... Quote
cberkas Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 7-1 Brazil finally scores after Germany misses a chance to make it 8-0. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 This game could have been 11-4 Germany. Eleventy-billion to two! Quote
