Sounds like SJSU is putting together a pretty good class. What is your take on the QB battle going on? Fales has to be tough to replace. Most Spartan fans agree that Joe Gray will start. Joe was a 3 star out of high school who committed to U of Washington. He made an official visit to them and changed his mind after finding out that the Huskies had commits from a couple of other QB's. The other negative for this California kid was the weather. We had been recruiting hard. That and his like for our coaches convinced him to sign with the Spartans. Joe red shirted his Fr year. He was our outstanding Scout Team QB the next two years. He's a Junior this season. He has a stronger arm than Fales and like Fales. he is very accurate. Fast also and will run when on You. Remains to be seen of course just how good of a starter he'll be. A lot will depend on how good our "O" line will be. Most think they definitely have the talent , speed and strength to be outstanding. Our "D" could be the strength of the team. Line Backers and "DE" may turn out to be the best in our league. All in all, fans and coaches feel that we have a good chance at a good bowl game this season. We look forward to playing your team and hope that neither program has any serious injuries. We have heard that UND has a good chance of being very tough. Sounds like you have some outstanding talent. We are not taking you lightly. Sparta hopes that those of you who are making the trip will enjoy San Jose and the Bay Area as a whole. At the game please stop by some of the tail gaiter's for a friendly visit and who knows, maybe a beer or two. Also take a look at the weight room building which next to the stadium. Good luck this season. May you win all of your games. Except one of course. Quote

Will be interesting to see how well we can compete. Good luck this season...other than the opener of course. This will be the second season for our current coaching staff. They had a very good recruiting class for 2014. We think that several of the recruits have a chance of playing this year. One of our two JC's that signed is a three star "DE. Victor Vernon. At 6ft, 3", 270 lbs, he was rated as one of the strongest in the country. Victor was recruited by a large number of big time programs. Watch for him. Number 97. The large majority of fans are very happy with this coaching staffs abilities to coach and recruit. Quote

Good luck this season. May you win all of your games. Except one of course. Thanks for the information and very kind gestures! As for UND, most here don't know what to expect this season other than some form of improvement. We have a new coaching staff that most are high on, but it's unknown how long it will take them to changeover the roster. Our current staff, as well as our successful teams of the past, pride themselves on physical offense and aggressive defense. However, our roster has to adapt to this and no one knows how long it will take. I'm confident, though, that our team this season will be much more physical and disciplined than the 2013 - 2012 teams, as our previous head coach was inept. I'm certainly looking forward to the season opener down at San Jose State - should be a good game! Quote

Now that is a team that needs some help! I think there will be some freshies on our team that get their shirts pulled as well. Quote
UND92,96 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Nevertheless I would expect/hope that he "recommits" soon. Based upon a Gigli tweet, I'm thinking Oliveira may have committed to UND today. Also, Carl Engwall has reportedly committed to UND. EDIT: Both commitments have been confirmed by SFI. Quote
Hambone Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Good pick ups. Hopefully Engwall can work on some of his teammates - specifically Tristyn Hanson Quote
UND-FB-FAN Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Between North Dakota, Minneapolis area, and Winnipeg area, I think the new staff is on to something as far as where the emphasis should be. Class is starting to shape up good! Quote
sioux24/7 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Six commits before the season even started? Impressive compared to last season that's for sure. Quote
UND-FB-FAN Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Six commits before the season even started? Impressive compared to last season that's for sure.Don't wanna jump to any conclusions, but it appears to be quite evident that Bubba and staff are better recruiters, whether that be because of talent or effort, than Mussman's staff. Part of it, I think, is that they are staying in the region rather than going all over the place to recruits who don't know where or what UND is. Quote
jdub27 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Any clue how high up their RB board Oliveira was? Looks like a good get for UND. Quote
geaux_sioux Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 We've needed a power runner for a long time. I was initially worried that we didn't have a single commit but now we have way more than we've ever had. These players all look solid and best of all they all have Midwestern(Manitoba included) roots. Quote
jjensen Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Just watched both of their highlights again. It's been a long time coming to get a guy like Brady, we get a running back that isn't afraid to get get physical or shy away from tacklers. Also I'm liking what I saw from Engwall, he showed various different moves as well as some nice form tackling which will be a nice change from some previous recruits. Although I do hope that he gets bigger for his senior year, you can see he has the physical tools but also there is room for him to get bigger. Should be a good get from what seems to be a pretty good team from a recruiting standpoint. Quote
darell1976 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Six commits before the season even started? Impressive compared to last season that's for sure. Tom Miller has this little tidbit, sounds like this team will be headed into the right direction: Tom Miller @tommillergf · 5h FWIW: UND FB has 6 commits on Aug. 14. UND's first commit of last year came on Oct. 21. Quote
darell1976 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Metro Miami's 2013 Class 4A #1 and #2 RBs lived in Grand Forks until 2010. They combined for over 2,100 yards last season and averaged well over 10 yards per carry. They earned All-County, All-Conference and All-State honors. They have run 4.46 and 4.57 40s. In track, their best 100 times were 10.89 and 11.09. Their GPAs are well above 3.0. They also play OLB and return kickoffs. Yes, they are identical twins (5'11" and 185 pounds). And, yes, they would like to return to Grand Forks to help the Fighting Sioux win 4 Big Sky championships - and earn college degrees.http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/1684157/george-jacobsenhttp://www.hudl.com/athlete/1684156/henry-jacobsen That would be great to get them!!
