bincitysioux Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Don't know if this was posted elsewhere, but I notice in the info packet that came with my season tix yesterday, it said that all 7 of North Dakota's home football games will be televised by Midco. Also, it mentioned that UND still has a partnership with Fox College Sports and that select games (excluding hockey games) will be carried on FCS. Quote

darell1976 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Any news on what games will be in FCS? Also is Big Sky Tv just for conference games? I am just wondering if Valpo will only be on midco. Quote
Wilbur Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 As a North Dakotan who lives outside of Grand Forks this is wonderful news, but methinks this will hurt the attendance a bit from the locals. Quote

siouxfan512 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Big Sky TV carries any game that is played in a Big Sky venue.............. Most, not all ... last year the UND vs Montana game was not on Big Sky website; pretty dissappointing to have to miss that game. Quote
geaux_sioux Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Most, not all ... last year the UND vs Montana game was not on Big Sky website; pretty dissappointing to have to miss that game. That was because of the Root Sports contract. Quote
Dustin Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 So this brings about an interesting discussion: If UND still has a contract with FCS, why would select non-hockey events be broadcast while hockey games not broadcast. I would think viewership would be highest for hockey games. Now, I know that CBSSN has NCHC national rights, but there are non-conference games that would apply. Anyway, it's good for the non-hockey sports that they will get some national coverage, as well as good regional coverage. I'm anxious to see what MidcoSN broadcast schedule for the season is. Quote

I've heard MidcoSN is doing every football home game, although don't quote me on that. As for FCS carrying non-hockey sports, that's a great job by Faison to continue a part of a contract that was only added because of the popularity of hockey. As for non-conference games, I'm not sure what the options are for a national broadcast for UND. I don't know if the CBSSN contract includes all home games at an NCHC school or just conference ones. Faison needs to work with the NCHC and figure out a way for games that are not commited to CBSSN to be braodcase on FCS. Then I would be truly impressed; as of now I'm pretty dissappointed in the fact that I'll have to watch almost all games via webcast. Hopefully it is as improved as they say it is. As for non-hockey sports, that is still a good deal for the school. The more exposure, the better. Hopefully they will have a fair number of basketball games; should be a big season for Sioux basketball! If they capitalize on their talent, maybe they could do a little "Dancin" next March!! Quote
siouxfan512 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 That was because of the Root Sports contract. Yeah, it was a bummer, I had to follow along on the play by play gametracker. Couldn't believe when they won, that I had missed the finish. Hope they have some big wins this season. Time to make the playoffs and finally get a fun rivalry games with NDSU. Quote
westsidesioux Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Can anyone find who, if any, of the smaller cable outlets are picking up the MidcoSN feed of UND Athletics like last year? Quote
UNDColorado Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 At this point I am interested to see if any football games will be on FCS. Big Sky TV is great but a televised game is even better... Quote

Great news for you Midco Subscribers. My question is will the games be in better quality on Big Sky TV? Also, will any of the football games be on FCS? If so will the games be in HD? If Big Sky TV simply uses the Midco feed I imagine the quality will be much improved for the HD broadcasts. Quote

westsidesioux Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Spoke with my cable provider in Dickinson today and they will NOT be picking up ANY UND broadcasts this year like they have in the past. Midco isn't an option here in Dickyville but they will be next year and I will be first in line to sign up!! Any suggestions on which route I should go for online viewing? Quote

Pretty good feed quality too...but I would still rather watch it on traditional TV. Quote

The feeds on Big Sky TV from Northern Arizona last season were hands down the best on that platform. Hopefully since many North Dakota games will be on TV in HD, that means ours will be of similar quality on the webcasts. Quote
