watchmaker49 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 20,000 for the George Strait concert, and it was announced today that a Jason Aldean concert is scheduled for the Alerus in late March. With a couple of big concerts (a rare thing in recent years for the Al), and seven UND home football games, 2013 is shaping up to be a potentially good year for the facility. Who is Jason Aldean? Quote
watchmaker49 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I'll probably go to Jason too. Get more use out of this cowboy hat I just bought ha You would pay to see this guy? Quote
siouxforeverbaby Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Who is Jason Aldean? he is a country singer. If you are going to ask who each person is...why read the thread? You obviously don't care. Quote
82SiouxGuy Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 You would pay to see this guy? Jason Aldean was Number 9 on the Billboard Top 40 Money Maker list for 2012. It looks like a lot of people are willing to pay money to go see him. http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/touring/1098519/taylor-swift-leads-billboards-2012-top-40-money-makers-see-the?page=0%2C3 Quote
dmksioux Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Like him or not, its good for the Alerus Center and GF to get shows to town. Last night the town was crazy, impossible to get a hotel room and nearly the same to get into a restaurant. Jason Aldean won't sell 20,000 tickets but he will still bring people to town and open pocket books. Quote
watchmaker49 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 he is a country singer. If you are going to ask who each person is...why read the thread? You obviously don't care. Googled him and tried listening to a couple of songs. Tried is the word. Quote
bypolairxam Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Country music???....down goes the IQ!!! Quote
WeAreNorthDakota Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 March? That seems like a late add and not much promotional time. He's been signed for about 2 months but George Strait's promoter wouldn't let the Alerus announce the concert because it may have hurt George's sales. Jason Aldean was announced less than an hour after George was off the stage. Quote
WiSioux Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Country music???....down goes the IQ!!! unnecessary... Quote
JohnboyND7 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Made the mistake of rolling into Grand Forks(visiting a friend) around the same time everyone was for the concert. Interstate exits were absolutely ridiculous. 32nd Ave Exit was backed up way onto interstate. Demers wasn't as bad. Quote
siouxforeverbaby Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Googled him and tried listening to a couple of songs. Tried is the word. again? If you are not a fan of country music, why read the thread? Quote
darell1976 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Wa that the biggest concert crowd? Or did Cher pack more. Quote
andtheHomeoftheSIOUX!! Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Wa that the biggest concert crowd? Or did Cher pack more. The Herald said this was unofficially the biggest. Quote
watchmaker49 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Country music???....down goes the IQ!!! Yes but money is money and good shows that attract a lot of fans is a good thing for GF any day. It seems that country shows are a safer ticket sale bet than rock shows. Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 According to GF Herald, 14,000 tickets have been sold for this weekends Jason Aldean concert. Heck of a few months for the Alerus I would say! Quote
dakotadan Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Especially considering they didn't announce it until after the George concert. Quote
Cratter Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Too bad its during the final five or I would be there. Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Too bad its during the final five or I would be there. Right, a large number of locals are traveling to St Paul, and many won't go to concert so they can watch the title game on TV Saturday If UND doesn't make it to Saturday's game, walk up sales could be big. SiouxForever Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Alerus Center to make concert announcement at 4pm. Who's coming? Thoughts? Quote
MissSioux85 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Alerus Center to make concert announcement at 4pm. Who's coming? Thoughts? Madonna, Kelly Clarkson, and Shania Twain have all announced tours recently. Perhaps one of them added a Grand Forks date? Quote
dmksioux Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I'll take a shot...Motley Crue? They are in Denver on Friday, July 31st and Winnipeg on Monday, August 3rd. One would think they might try to find a Saturday or Sunday show somewhere between here and Denver... 1 Quote
UND92,96 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 The Eagles - Friday, June 5 I remember the last time the Eagles were scheduled for Grand Forks (at the Ralph), it ended up canceling. 1 Quote
FightingSioux87 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I remember the last time the Eagles were scheduled for Grand Forks (at the Ralph), it ended up canceling. I had tickets to that concert too before they moved it to Duluth...had to sell my tickets Quote
