if you were gonna spend 200-300 bucks for a dinner for two...helix or harry's?

Harry’s by a mile- cocktails, maple bacon appetizer, and proximity prevail (I can walk home if the cocktails affect me)

Right, "confirmation bias."  As in, this article lists many closures and highlights an old stalwart (Blue Moose), but does not mention a single opening.  Don't need a fancy, high-priced consultant to confirm that.

Is this bad journalism, or bad consulting?

Hard to compete with the restaurants in grand forks. It would take quite the establishment to get me to eat there over the Speedway, Blue Moose, Parrots Cay, toasted frog, Rhombus. It’s a real dilemma for me to choose where to eat when I’m in town!

Not Grand Forks but South of there in Fargo.

The Red Pepper is finally coming to south fargo. Will be located right next to Sandy's Donuts in Osgood.

My money is on Sandy's Donuts - everyone will always eat great donuts!  The more the red pepper expands the more people (other than drunk Sioux fans) will say...you know?  this isn't really that good.  Blasphemy, I know but it's just not that good - sorry.

A lot like every Fargo restaurant that's expanded to GF....remember SweetoBurrito?  Terrible!  Vinyl Taco?  passable but ala carte made it hideously expensive and NOT that good.  Sickies Garage? - made me puke and that was just for the name not the mediocre burgers they serve.  JL Beers is hanging on by a thread - maybe they'll become a weed store like their Moorhead location!

That being said I'll still hit up the Pep for food in GF - Sandy's delivers to a local gas station in GF and that's fine but if you want good bakery items check out DHI SweetStreet Bakery in the old El Roco complex.  Local and delicious!  As it should be...

The problem I have with any eatery is when you go in them it’s so damn loud 9n there you can’t hear across the table.

vinyl taco was terrible, Texas road house is just as bad and service isn’t that great

there has to be a way to tone down the noise in theses places, you expect it in a sports bar.

There is a way, but they want  you to eat and get out so they can get turnover. It's not fine dining.

I don't know how anyone would want to open a restaurant in GF. I was born and raised here but this town is so fickle when it comes to restaurants, even decent places come here to die.

Shame on you Sic!  What about her Olive Garden review that set the internet on FIRE back in the day!  The thing with Marilyn was she was unfailingly positive in her restaurant reviews.  Unlike most newspaper restaurant reviewers, who could be real a-holes, she always tried to find the bright side on every place she went - ND nice to a fault!   "Flimsy napkins" was about a negative as she ever got.  Hope she's doing well since Forum kicked her to the curb - haven't heard from her in years.

I don’t care who owns the place as long as food is good, service is good and place is clean.

i always liked the north side, everything isn’t made in a deep fryer, how are they doing in the new location?

It was presented as proof that GF loves its chain restaurants.
