New Jerseys

Dave do you mean to tell me that in 2015 when Back to the Future II comes to fruition, you won't be lined up to get the self drying coat and the power laced shoes? I'll be in line getting my hoverboard with my hydrated pizza hut pizza and you'll be bored at home. Jump on board my man, the future is fun.

Assuming we don't all die this December of course.

Tight jerseys are no more or less functional than baggy jerseys, it is merely a matter of personal preference. For my taste, the tight jerseys look every bit as foolish as these kids you see running around with their baggy pants and hats turned sideways.

Don't bother trying to introduce "facts" or "evidence" into a conversation with LakesDave. He knows all and sees all. LakesDave is always right. These people obviously are lying to sell a product. They are evil and should be destroyed. How dare they perpetrate such a monstrous hoax on the American public. Every employee of the company should be flogged. I have now come to realize that it is wrong to ever disagree with LakeDave. :whistling::hypocrite:

Both styles of jerseys are functional, neither one more so than the other. The function of a jersey is to fit over the padding, and both styles of jerseys do that. That much is a fact. I refuse to let somebody spread lies about an ugly jersey being allegedly more functional than a jersey that looks so much better.

Are you unable to comprehend facts or are you simply too arrogant and stubborn to accept that you don't know everything?

It's been stated multiple times in this thread that the new jerseys are lighter, breathe better, and are harder to grab by the defense making the player hard to tackle...those are all functional improvements over the jerseys of even a few years ago, which is the question you posed in the first place. So your question has been answered, yet you discredit the facts and keep insulting everybody who provides these facts because you don't like the way they look. You might not like the look, I don't really care to see a 350 pound lineman in a skin-tight jersey either, but functionally they are better...that is a fact.

One thing I've learned this week about narcissists, I mean about Dave, is that he is always right. He knows best, on every topic. He's right because to him everything comes down to personal preference. Facts aren't really facts, they are just suggestions. Insults aren't insults unless they are against him, that's his personal preference. Last night he compared mass murders to a Federal judge ruling on a nuisance lawsuit and dismissing it because it is his preference to do that. I think the best policy is probably to just nod your head and continue your conversation without actually engaging him. If more of us can adopt this policy then maybe we won't have quite as many threads highjacked. I'm going to do my best to follow that policy.

Ask the defensive player who can no longer grab the ball carrier by the jersey if this is an improvement or not. You want a fact, I'll give you a fact : The fact of the matter is that this topic is a matter of personal preference despite what so many of you stubborn people try to tell me.

Fact is 100% of todays players like em tight. 100% of Dick Butkus likes em baggy.

Ask the defensive player who can't be held by his jersey if this is an improvement or not. What answer do you think you'll get Dave?

The narcissist, I mean Dave, is always right because everything in the world is a matter of preference. There is no right or wrong, unless you disagree with Dave. His preference is the deciding factor.

For instance, you could explain to Dave that a uniform is supposed to be for the protection of the player. So if the uniform can be used against you, for instance if someone can grab your jersey to hold you, or use the jersey to tackle you, then the uniform is not functioning properly for you. Your uniform should not be able to be used as a handle to defeat you. If the uniform can be tailored and form fitting it is much more difficult to use that as a tool against you. The new uniform would be more functional, because it does a better job of protecting you. And that doesn't even consider things like new fabrics that might breath better and be harder to hang on to. Dave would probably point out that the baggy uniform has functionality for the opposing player, and that is a good thing because it is his preference. So even though the baggy uniform is less functional for the player wearing it, and a form fitting uniform would be more functional for that player, Dave would tell you that the overall functionality would decrease with a form fitting uniform because he doesn't like it. See, it all makes sense. Never question Dave, he is always right.

Thank you for helping me to make my point, which is that whether or not this is an improvement depends on who you ask : the player having his jersey grabbed or the player who made a habit of gaining an advantage by grabbing the jersey of opposing players.

Dear LakesDave, if other teams have tight fitting jerseys and UND has loose fitting jerseys, then UND is at a disadvantage. Hence, UND should get tight fitting jerseys. It's not about personal preference and it's not about looks. You're not going to win this argument because you are wrong and there are facts to prove it.

You come across as a person who doesn't like change. Whether it be baggy uniforms, hd technology, the Sioux name etc. The world is ever changing and its happening pretty fast. Its time for you to let a few things go and change with the times.

So I heard the football team is getting new uniforms. Should we start a thread for that?

I'd like to see UND go to a common theme for uniforms across the board (meaning all sports).

I'd like to see a common color for helmets (hockey, football, ... lacrosse some day ;) ). I think that would end up being black because greens are tough to match to jerseys, and given the current trend, I'd like to see that matte or flat black be taken on as the theme.

I'd like to see a common mode in uniforms also where the teams have three jerseys: white, green, and a black alternate.

I'm not sure what to say about pants. Hockey tends to a single color, home or road. Football tends to have two color pants depending on home/road and which jersey. BB tends to just match to the jersey.

How's that geaux_sioux? Good enough restart of the primary discussion? :D

Because it really is all about Dave.

Nothing is more important than what Dave wants. Otherwise he will develop bad feelings and resentment. Who wouldn't resent it if someone tried to change something important like a college sports team uniform without Dave's approval?

Dave wasn't around back in WWII, so he probably wouldn't like that. It would have to be something like they had in the 70's or 80's since those are the most important years to Dave. And he definitely isn't going to like the black helmets idea.
