Teeder11 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Another big problem is that so many people weren't paying attention along the way. They see people threatening to take away the name and they blame the people that they believe are in charge of the situation. They don't know the steps that have happened along the way, they don't know that this situation didn't just happen in the last year, and most of them have never met any of the people involved. It becomes a mob mentality to attack whoever is responsible, at least in their minds. ^^^^^ This. Exactly! Quote
Fetch Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 More BS from the hired PR spin Specialists - Still I think they thought it would be a slam dunk & were hired for the job - It is good they both could probably retire tomorrow because I don't think they have longevity in their future & a lot of the folks are going to vote their disgust Quote

They weren't hired to get rid of the nickname. The SBoHE was handling the nickname issue. I would guess that Kelley and Faison have had to get involved with the nickname issue a lot more than they planned when they were hired. And they have had to take a lot of time away from their actual jobs to handle the nickname issue. Quote
dmksioux Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 No matter how clear you explain the situation to some people, they either choose to ignore the obvious or just aren't able to comprehend what is being explained. Its amazing how many times they've been corrected or been given the facts yet they just don't get it. Unfortunately I think their are many more out there then just the few on this board. By the way, I ran into Mr. Faison at the hockey game in Denver and guess what? He was wearing Fighting Sioux gear. I have ran into both him and Mr. Kelley wearing Sioux gear. I'm sure there will be people on this board that will try to tell me I'm wrong about that though... 1 Quote
82SiouxGuy Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 take a pic next time Why? You'll just claim it was Photoshopped. You wouldn't even believe it if you saw it with your own lying eyes. I've seen them both wearing Fighting Sioux clothing. As I've said before, I've heard them both say that they were not against the nickname. Who in their right mind would take a job just to get rid of a nickname, especially one that they had no reason to hate? That entire argument is just irrational. 1 Quote

My spin is trying to state facts, that you refuse to believe. And I was trying to lighten things up with the "your own lying eyes" thing. It comes from a Groucho Marx quote that went something like "Who are you going to believe, me or your own lying eyes?". I should have realized that it was probably too obscure for most people. 1 Quote

Tip of the hat to Goon for this one. http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/2012/03/struggle-of-long-time-sioux-fan-kim.html Props to Teeder W... Actually, Brian Faison is wearing a Sioux shirt in the picture in questions so that shoots the conspiracy theorists claim that he hates the nickname. I have actually seen Faison wearing the logo on other shirts as well. Edited March 8, 2012 by Goon Quote

The Sicatoka Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Good the PRESSURE IS BUILDING http://nickname.und.edu/logo/ to bad it was never done to save the name only to explain what has happened That's three weeks old. And Kelley has no power in this anymore. It's been taken up by the ND SBoHE. He can only react. Quote

He was hired after the settlement was signed, he couldn't change that. Of course, the SBoHE had control of that situation anyway so the President of UND really had no control of that situation. After the settlement the only way to live up to the terms were to get approval from both tribes. Spirit Lake gave approval. Standing Rock said no and then wouldn't talk to anyone. They wouldn't return phone calls or emails from anyone with any authority in Higher Education. They wouldn't talk to anyone in state government about the issue. They still won't return phone calls or emails on the subject. If they won't talk to anyone on the subject, how can anyone get them to change their mind. The President of UND has no power at Standing Rock. Blaming Kelley is foolish and a waste of time. THE ONLY THING THAT HAS A CHANCE TO HELP CHANGE THE NCAA POLICY IS THE STANDING ROCK LAWSUIT, and that is a long shot. The rest of this lunacy is just doing damage to the school, it isn't helping anyone other than lawyers and selling newspapers. 1 Quote
