passit_offthegoalie Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Brad just tweeted that Cary Eades has applied for the Mankato head coaching job. Quote
passit_offthegoalie Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 the stupid NCAA needs to go with the KRACH rankings and stop avoiding an all WCHA frozen 4 and manipulating the brackets. This is depressing seeing these two teams play in the frozen four and knowing one of these two teams will be in the championship game. ugh. Quote
passit_offthegoalie Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Good for Cary bad for us I wonder how stiff his competition will be. Quote
Frozen4sioux Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I think the only issue will be if they can afford him. Quote
Johnny Five Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Yeah I would say its his job to lose. He would be a great hire for them going into a weakened WCHA in two seasons. Quote
watchmaker49 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Almost seems like a step down though. More like stepping off a cliff. Quote
Frozen4sioux Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Id rather be vice president of the USA than the king of Muldova Quote
82SiouxGuy Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Maybe he's looking at improving his resume to have the best shot at the UND job whenever Hak is done. Head coaching experience at the college level is something he doesn't have right now. Quote

All kidding aside you do have a good point and not just to takeover from hak one day but head at a real hockey program. Quote
watchmaker49 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Ferris State 3 Union 1. Third goal open net. Union wins face-off in Ferris end with their goalie pulled. D misplays pucks and Ferris jumps on loose puck for a breakaway looking at an open net. Quote

All kidding aside you do have a good point and not just to takeover from hak one day but head at a real hockey program. Cary is older than Hak, but Hak may move on at some point for some reason. Maybe he'll get an offer for an NHL team. Or decide to quit coaching and try something else. I'm pretty sure Cary doesn't want to be the Number 2 guy for the rest of his life. Quote

Cary is the guy who could take Mankato to the top of the new WCHA and they would be foolish not to hire him. It would be great if he could get Steve Johnson to come over with him. Quote

My guess is that one of the 2 will get the job. The only other coach I could see beating them might be Guentzel if he decided to go after it. Then it might come down to the interview. Quote

Then it might come down to the interview. I really can't see Guentzel going for it but never say never. No matter which of the 3 they pick they can not lose all would make great head coaches. If Cary gets it who should replace him here? Think of all the guys that played here that would make great additions to the staff. Let the speculation begin. Quote

I think Guentzel would consider going for it if he believes that Lucia is going to stay at least another 5 years. Guentzel isn't getting any younger either. Of course he wouldn't be guaranteed to take over for Lucia either. My best guess for a replacement if Cary leaves would be someone at the Jr level, like maybe Jason Herter or Chad Johnson. Quote
SiouxFanatic Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Got confused for a second and thought this wasn't a thread for NCAA scores. BC up 1-0 against Minnesota. Quote

I think talking about a head coach opening at Mankato falls under "NCAA hockey scores and updates, non-sioux." thanks for the update. Quote

Oh, no doubt. I was more so ribbing for the fact that there has been very little talk about the games going on today. Milner for BC has been saving their hide. He's made a couple amazing saves that could've been goals. End of 1st period. 1-0 BC. Quote

That's why Hak got the job instead of Steve. Steve only finished his degree in the last couple of years. Whereas Brent got his along time ago. Quote

I knew that it was in place for head coaches. Quote

You would think so but maybe it doesn't. Can anyone answer this for us? One thing for Chad would be a helluva pay cut from Lincoln. Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Gophers have played a nice game thus far. Millner is playing solid. I have to say, when BC scored, I didn't really feel much emotion. Reminds me of watching a DU vs UMN game, can't really "root" for either. Quote
SiouxFanatic Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 BC scores right at the start of their PP. BC up 2-0. @LetsGoSioux!: I wish both teams could lose. I think every fanbase that isn't Minnesota or BC will be cheering for Ferris State. Quote
