GeauxSioux Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Has there ever been any talk of changing UND's colors along with the name/mascot? I'm not advocating it, I'm just asking. Quote
gfhockey Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I knew this was going to come up. Pres kelley and faison can take away the sioux nickname and tradition but they sure as hell aint touching the whit eblack and green (and pink lol) 1 1 Quote
82SiouxGuy Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Has there ever been any talk of changing UND's colors along with the name/mascot? I'm not advocating it, I'm just asking. The answer is no. The only time any talk about changing colors has come up so far is when people ask if anyone has talked about changing the colors. And then someone else either jumps to a conclusion or else they take a shot at Kelley and Faison for no reason. Quote
Big A HG Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 There wasn't much we could do about the left-wing PC agenda to change the nickname...but if they take our colors, there WILL be hell to pay. 1 Quote
Shawn-O Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Well Kelley's interlocking ND sweater did look more like a forest green than Kelly green... Quote

What evidence has anyone seen or heard that anyone wants to change the colors? There is a lot of angst about absolutely nothing. Quote
Big A HG Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I don't like buying forest green Sioux stuff. It isn't our color. I don't buy Packers stuff with kelly green and "vegas" gold. Dark Green is not a UND color...nor should it never be. (You would never see someone in Madison wearing Dark Red, or anyone in the Twin Cities wearing bright Red). Quote

There is no evidence and I'm not implying that there is. I'm just saying, if they take the colors with the name, there will be hell to pay. Quote
WYOBISONMAN Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Honest to god.......get rid of the pink....... Quote
Big A HG Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Honest to god.......get rid of the pink....... The pink doesn't bother me because it isn't a men's athletic color. It's only an official university color because of the prairie rose the colors were chosen after. Quote

Ole in MSP Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Those two have UND in the Big Sky. They do, now if they can get our BB and FB teams to be competitive there, we will have something. Right now we are not, but I am hopeful the youth on those three teams takes us there. Time is of the essence. 1 Quote
CMSioux Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I disagree, when the urgency to win takes over everything else you end up with Best Buy situations. Yes we need winning seasons to bring back the bandwagon fans and thus the money, but not at that cost. Okay to get this thread back on topic. There is no way they would consider changing the colors - why would they, the colors have nothing to do with team names and logos. Actually the Prairie Rose color (what uninformed call pink) is one thing that makes UND unique and true to the state. Quote
Big A HG Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Actually the Prairie Rose color (what uninformed call pink) is one thing that makes UND unique and true to the state. You are actually wrong. The official school colors are quote: "green and pink", and are that because they were chosen after the Prairie Rose. Link: http://www.und.edu/aboutund/faq.html#a4 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Honest to god.......get rid of the pink....... I'd rather be "in the pink" than yellow. Quote
CMSioux Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I stand corrected, but Prairie Rose Pink has a nicer ring to it. Quote
GeauxSioux Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Is orange starting to become more of a school color? I believe it just started out as the orange flame in the academic logo and if you look at the UND homepage., it is starting to get used a lot more. Mikejm pointed out in another thread that there are whispers about "Spirit" being the new name. Is the orange going to be part of the color scheme for North Dakota Spirits? Quote
STS Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Those two have UND in the Big Sky. Yeah, but they don't have The Fighting Sioux in the Big Sky. Quote
mikejm Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Please pardon the crude artwork. Spirit Lake already gave the University permission to use the logo. Just got to change the nickname. Quote
GeauxSioux Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Your letters need to be orange. Quote
