  1. How about all of the above?
  2. Well, they can't touch baseball because too many baseball alums would complain.
  3. I wouldn't want to deal with that every holiday season.
  4. What I meant was we have records of the past so that future generations can learn from them. I was born in 1974, so I have ZERO memories of Rube. But I know how much we struggled during his time as head coach and how quickly Gino turned it around when he was promoted from assistant to head coach because of historical records and listening to stories from older people. Didn't mean to offend you.
  5. If you mean I refuse to kiss a$$ and call everything a rose when it clearly is not a rose, then you are correct.
  6. Well, that's what the history books are for.
  7. Hate is a strong word. Disappointment is more appropriate. The 1970's were a graveyard for this program. There is no getting around that.
  8. One of the advantages of being an undrafted free agent is that you can negotiate with any team you want, thus giving you more leverage in those negotiations. If Stecher gets low-balled by a team, he can just tell them where to stick it and then go talk to another team or teams.
  9. What other "beef" do you need? It is telling that Gino took the same players that Rube couldn't do jack squat with and took them to the NCAA title game. And then won the NCAA title the very next season. Irish is right, we lucked out with Gino and we also lucked out with Blais. Both hires happened at crucial times in the history of this program. I shudder to think of what might have happened if we made the wrong choice on either or both hires.
  10. That sounds about right. I really hope this guy gets a legitimate chance to make it to the NHL and doesn't get shafted because he isn't 6' 3" tall.
  11. I saw him on WDAZ News @ 10 saying he is leaning towards signing a contract. He also said "This is a business and I hope the fans understand that". I don't think Mr. Stecher really knows just how much of a business the NHL is. And he won't until he signs a contract with someone. Once you sign that piece of paper, you become just another piece of meat to be used however they want to use you. That is probably why almost every player that leaves early wishes that they hadn't left early. Because all the NHL seems to care about is how big you are (or aren't), Stecher could very well get buried in the AHL for years, getting passed over for bigger, taller defensemen. I really hope he does his homework on the teams that pursue him so he doesn't get stuck in an organization that doesn't give him a fair shot at making the big league. Having said all that, I thank him for his contributions to this team and program and I wish him all the best.
  12. Nobody had a problem with DOT.
  13. Michigan's goalie said after just one minute of play, he knew that his team hadn't played anyone like us all year. So I think this is a valid point.
  14. Addiction sucks. I am so glad I never got hooked into that stuff. I think it started when his wife left him for his own brother. Some people turn to alcohol. Dubay turned to illegal drugs. As a fellow human being, I am pulling for him to get his life in order.
  15. Looks like the repeat bid is getting a big boost: http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/4006817-und-hockey-boeser-announces-hes-coming-back-sophomore-season
  16. He is getting North Dakota mixed up with his own team. That was a very succinct description of Golden Gopher Hockey, under both Woog and Lucia.
  17. Any maybe you need to e-mail Tom Miller and tell him he doesn't know what he is talking about. I happen to think he was right.
  18. Wow, you guys are really good at putting words into my mouth. I never said the things you are alleging I said. And I wasn't implying that either. Thanks for totally missing the point of my post.
  19. Look, when we as a fan base had watched six consecutive national semifinal losses (2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015) and then watched Denver score two goals to tie the game in the third period and were going on yet another PP (which was almost called a 5 minute major), you cannot seriously insinuate that people should not have been thinking "Here we go again". As Tom Miller said in the Heraldo on Friday, anyone who claims they weren't thinking that were not being honest. I do not blame any of our fans for feeling a bitter and negative sense of déjà vu as that third period got away from us. It's called being a passionate, die-hard fan of this team, program and institution. It's called posting emotional comments in the heat of the moment. But I suppose you are going to go ahead and try to tell me that you have never, ever done that during your time on this planet? Yep, that's what I thought. End Rant.
  20. Amen, could not agree more.
  21. I promised to change my avatar if we won #8 and I have delivered.....just like our hockey team did last night!!!
  22. This is precisely why awards like this are so overrated. They are subjective and based on market size and media coverage, or lack thereof. The title that really matters will be awarded tomorrow night.
