  1. Unfortunately, I will not be there this year. I am skipping the Frozen Faceoff this year because, well......it just isn't all that much fun. The Hoggsbreath Brunch was the best part of last year's trip and I will miss it this year. I may be back in the future, however.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if they fold their program after this year. Not good news at all.
  3. I wouldn't write their eulogy just yet, but it does look like a resurgent UND program and a Tim Brewster-less Gopher program are beginning to even things out around here.
  4. Can you post a picture? I love animals.
  5. I think it was a reference to the last three years and the 2nd, 2nd and 3rd place finishes. I think they do get over the hump this year.
  6. Yeah, I am a frequent visitor to that web site.
  7. This must be a sweep. We have some ground to make up in league play. I do not care how well Miami is playing right now.
  8. KVLY has devolved into tabloid trash. They have chased out all the good journalists (Charley Johnson for example) and are only worth watching for the weather.
  9. Buyer's remorse? I hate to say this but.....you get what you pay for.
  10. All this stuff doesn't seem to be hurting WDAY or KVLY. Or maybe it does and they cover it up? And a monopoly is a monopoly; are you saying as long as it's a local and/or regional issue, monopolies are just fine?
  11. I am still not ready to give them the NCAA title on a platter. How their freshmen handle the playoffs will determine how far they go.
  12. Since a lot of players take a redshirt year, why don't they just get rid of the medical hardship altogether? Either use it as it was intended or don't have it.
  13. I don't know what I would do if Faison hired this guy.
  14. We are very fortunate that Bubba applied for the FB head coaching position and was hired. We could have ended up with someone as bad as Muss.....or maybe even worse.
  15. Nice to put my name as the starter of this thread, when I started no such thread. I didn't know I was that important around here.
  16. And your example was not what I was getting at.
  17. JJ and Braden Hanson dropped down a division (FBS to FCS), so they were immediately eligible. But if you are going from FBS to FBS, then you have to sit out.
  18. Only in the world of academia are people guilty until proven innocent. Didn't North Dakota pass a law giving students a right to legal counsel when litigating a dispute with a college and/or university? I think the issue is that it looked like due process wasn't being followed. I don't like how they went about it, but their beef was not entirely illegitimate. Name one generation that wasn't blamed for all the ills of society. The Baby Boomers were savaged by the WW2 Generation for every problem in the world, when in fact the Baby Boomers were responsible for civil rights reform, environmental reform and giving back to the world with the Peace Corps. And if protests and boycotts (which were the bedrock of the civil rights struggle) mean someone is acting "entitled", then that should be worn as a badge of honor. If you don't stand up for yourself, no one else will either.
  19. Because when players transfer, they are forced to sit out a year. When an employee leaves one company for another, they don't have to sit out a year. You can pretend those two things are the same, but they are not.
  20. It is now called "Local WDAZ news broadcasts".
  21. What "can of worms"? If a coach suddenly abandons a program, a program kids have committed to based in part on who the head coach is, why should the players be stuck with a situation they had ZERO responsibility in creating? Commitment should be a two-way street; otherwise, it is pure hypocrisy.
  22. These players are not employees, as our "friends" at the NCAA are quick to point out. Their position on following due process was essentially correct; their response was too abrasive and thus was misconstrued by the media and others. And please don't broad-brush the millennial generation based on this ugly incident. This stuff has went on for years on countless campuses; the difference is today you have social media and cell phones with visual recording capability. The U of M will follow their internal processes and whatever will happen will happen.
  23. But if a head coach wants to jump ship and go to another school, there are ZERO consequences for that person. Where is "the harsh reality of college athletics" for disloyal coaches? I think if a coach abandons a program, the players should have the opportunity to transfer to another school without penalty.
