  1. I am not the biggest Schlossman fan in the world, but I agree with this article 100%. I also get hung up on what will happen the next couple of years too much.
  2. Well, like I said, CB is a tough position to learn at the NFL level where you have to cover guys like Calvin Johnson. It took Rhodes a couple of years to get on the field full time and it will take Waynes a couple of years as well. That is how the Vikings are building this team, through the draft, one piece at a time. Unlike 1998 and 2009, this team is being built for long-term success. That is something we haven't really had since the 1970's.
  3. I do not think Rhodes would be starting if he was "average"; Zimmer is pretty tough on DBs since he was one. And CB is one of the tougher positions to grasp at the NFL level, the difference in speed and agility from college to the professionals is pretty big. Waynes will get there. And yes, the offense is what needs upgrading now. The 2016 draft will be crucial in doing this.
  4. Not all of us were "begging for a game against NDSU". I was 100% against it; I felt we should wait until our program was back on its feet and if that meant waiting for a future playoff match-up, then so be it. And a lot of people on both sides think the game should be played every year. And yes, it is something the whole state would embrace. But NDSU having success on a national stage helps NDSU and ONLY NDSU. Otherwise, it is either neutral or a negative.
  5. You must have missed how good he was in coverage on Sunday. And he got us that Interception that stopped a drive. He played mainly special teams this year, but he has all the physical tools to be great. And aside from the terrible PI penalty, Rhodes looked pretty good on Sunday too. The defense is the least of our concerns right now.
  6. They are buying into that "It's good for the entire state of North Dakota" crap being promoted by Joel Heitkamp of KFGO and probably some others as well. All I know is that I will bleed Kelly Green and White forever and never, EVER support NDSU.
  7. This is more of a morale deflator than a death blow to the program. But it is frustrating to be taking steps back when all we want is to go forward.
  8. If he isn't happy here for whatever reason, it is better he leaves. Nothing screws up a locker room more than a disgruntled player.
  9. Never is a long time. I wouldn't overreact to this. Bubba and his staff will continue recruiting top-notch talent. Day-by-Day.
  10. Maybe there was a culture shock he couldn't overcome.
  11. Well, use whatever adjective you like better. I was just asking the question. We cannot afford to lose depth right now. The next step forward in this program depends on getting and keeping talent.
  12. Who will be next to jump ship? This is getting old.
  13. I would be surprised if he didn't come back. He has a bright future ahead of him here.
  14. I feel the same way; I don't spend money on "division championship" merchandise. It was a big step forward for a team that was picked to not even get close to the playoffs, but I am holding out for bigger and better things.
  15. Well, with Spielman's skill in stockpiling draft picks, I think we can fill whatever needs we have.
  16. The defense is not a problem right now. OL and WR need serious upgrading.
  17. Spielman has done an outstanding job of building this team through the draft.
  18. With all due respect, we are talking about the current state of UND athletics outside of men's hockey and how it is unacceptable. This isn't only about WBB, the current state of the WBB team is just another symptom of what is wrong at UND with regard to our non-hockey athletic programs. And I think pointing out our overall Division I performance to date is not "clueless speculative conversation", it is pointing out problems that will not go away because some people on here want to wish them away or pretend they don't exist. I for one have had it up to my gills with the mediocrity in our non-hockey programs and I am sick of hearing why it has to be that way and that we should all just accept it and shut up. Because I will not do that. And remember, the opposite of love isn't hate, it is apathy. And that is what we must avoid.
  19. That line will live forever in Fighting Sioux hockey lore!!!
  20. And he almost fumbled it on the very next offensive play!!! I was yelling at the TV "One more fumble and AP needs to sit his butt on the bench".
  21. You just publically outed him! I think Lakes is a toolbox, but I don't know if outing people is appropriate, even the likes of him.
  22. I have nothing against Hammer. He just wanted a job with more predictable hours; I cannot blame him for that. But it does raise the question of who will take over? Maybe do a simulcast with the radio network? The Vikings do that for their preseason games and it works out pretty good. Then you wouldn't have to hire someone to replace Hammer.
  23. Oh yeah, we are in that time of the year when NFL playoffs conflict with Men's Hockey. I hate that.
  24. I didn't think the First Amendment applied to a private message board like this. But I digress..... I wasn't really aiming that comment at you, but at the growing portion of our fan base who seem just fine and dandy with the mediocre performances of several of our programs since we moved up. About 15 years ago, that wasn't as much the case. The fact of the matter is, NDSU is getting all kinds of positive national attention for their FB team and their MBB team and that is a great recruiting tool for the entire campus, both athletic and non-athletic programs. Their national profile is getting big enough to render us almost invisible outside of college hockey circles (we are becoming "that other school in North Dakota"). And that is unacceptable for the Flagship campus of the North Dakota University System (and Bison rubes, I know you hate hearing that, but that is what we are). The next President of this school needs to understand how valuable athletics can be to marketing all of our programs (academics and research included) or we will continue to become even more irrelevant outside of college hockey circles.
  25. Well, you'll be able to watch it on the Packer Television Network....oops, I mean Fox Sports.
