  1. A Renaissance a lot of people have forgotten over time. We didn't always have a palace for our home games, every home game televised or first round NHL draft prospects drooling over our program year after year. 1994 was a critical tipping point in the history of this program and Curtis Murphy was one of the players that helped Blais turn the program around. I believe Murphy was one of Gino's recruits who committed before the coaching change and stuck around. I am very glad he did.
  2. I get a little tired of this whole "You can't blame a kid for doing whatever he wants, whenever he wants, regardless of how it impacts others". I suppose you didn't have a problem with what Tambellini pulled a few years back? Or what Derrick Byfuglien pulled back in 2000? Not that this is the same as those situations, but waiting almost until classes start in the Fall would be bush league in my opinion. The coaches have a responsibility to the program and thus need time to replace any kid who decides to sign a pro contract.
  3. Finland is making waves in international hockey after years in the shadow of Sweden.
  4. It doesn't have to be discrimination. If we do it right, we can offer opportunities for women without hurting men. Whether or not we are doing it right is open for debate.
  5. I didn't know Mike Eaves was coaching there?!?!
  6. As a subscriber to the Heraldo, I had it delivered to my front door. Very well-written piece.
  7. Would the B1G want to "contaminate" the "gene pool" as it were? They set this up to be an elite, exclusive club (trying not to snicker when I type that) and letting "outsiders" in would change that.
  8. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with that. We play them every year in an exhibition game. They are close. They undoubtedly would strive to build an elite program that would contend for championships. It would also further expose Canada to NCAA hockey, which may result in more and better recruits from north of the border.
  9. If the financial terms are up to snuff. We cannot afford to get screwed in any arrangement with the B1G. Otherwise, they can go pound sand.....well, you know where.
  10. All of the above. #heymichiganobjectsinthemirrorarecloserthantheyappear
  11. The bolded part above is why I will never apologize for UND having a regional in Fargo.
  12. No need to apologize. Quality is Job 1 at the University of North Dakota.
  13. Thank you Nashville!
  14. Political thread contamination alert!
  15. Defenses like the Broncos last year, the Ravens in 2000 and the Bears in 1985 only come around once in a great while. Most of the time, you need great QB play or you won't win jack squat in the NFL. Even the Giants needed good QB play from Phil Simms in the 1980's. Whether Wentz can deliver that for the Eagles remains to be seen, but I don't think Bradford was going to deliver what they needed at the QB position, so I don't blame them for trading up.
  16. Different regime in charge that time. There are grown-ups in charge this time.
  17. The 2016 NFL Draft kicks off tonight with the 1st round. I think Carson Wentz will end up in Philadelphia, which is a whole lot better than the Rams or the Browns. Expect the Vikings to wheel and deal like they always do. Any other thoughts and/or predictions?
  18. This sounds like the #ButtRPI argument that Bison fans make with regard to the Slummit. There are a lot of other variables besides PWR.
  19. That is amazing. Gopher fans must be masochists.
  20. Well, according to some of them, all they care about is the B1G and Wisconsin. Seriously, I agree with you 100%. This will be the hottest ticket for that program in awhile.
  21. Everyone is so focused on hanging #8 and the budget crisis that some things are slipping through the cracks.
  22. I think most of the players on Team Canada cashed it in after losing in the semifinals. Their thinking is Gold or nothing, so they didn't feel motivated to win the Bronze.
  23. It is always ugly when the two bullies of North America square off.
  24. I am not obsessed with NDSU. But I am glad that we are getting some positive press coverage for once and all the attention isn't on the Bison like it has been for several years. And they cannot stand that. Which makes hanging #8 all the more sweet. Of course, the real fun will be when we beat them in the FCS playoffs. Heads will definitely explode in Fargo if that happens.
