And having a bunch of hot-shot freshman is not an indicator of how a team will perform either. -

I think you meant Northeastern (otherwise, the B1G would have seven teams instead of six!). Otherwise, you are correct. I just had to vent a little. If Boston College had won it all last year, they would get all the love that a defending champ should get. But if we do it.......gotta talk about someone else instead. But maybe that is what we need to motivate the boys to do it again. -

In other words, have a large number of mediocre sports and run the athletic department like high school. You must want NDSU to keep laughing at us and shoving their championships in our face. And I don't give a rat's a$$ what the rest of the Big Sky does with regard to FCOA, especially since we might move to the Slummit League in the near future (not that I agree with it, but it might happen nonetheless). We have to compete with the schools in our region for athletes, not in our conference. We might as well go back to Division II and the NSIC if we aren't going to offer FCOA. You basically want to run the athletic department on a shoe-string budget with caps on games played and God knows what else. That is not what I want UND athletics to morph into. Thank heavens you are not in charge at Twamley or Hyslop.- 2,150 replies

If we brought in all those kids, the East Coast media would pretend like it didn't matter. They like to suck up to Hockey Least. -

I am getting sick and tired of hearing about BU and their "diaper dandies" (Copyright Dick Vitale). We are the reigning, defending NCAA National Champions and if the Terriers want to take that title from us, they will have to earn it. And so far, they haven't done that. Let's see where these teams are at in February or March before we start awarding titles to teams. -

What about Division I Men's Hockey schools who don't sponsor Women's Hockey? Why aren't they in Title IX purgatory?- 2,150 replies

Shouldn't you worry more about the Motor City Kitties?

I would love to watch UND end the NDSU streak of championships. How fitting would that be!

How in the HECK are they getting any kind of "significant return" with the crowds they have drawn to Target Center since this tournament started? Nothing but empty seats if one of the teams isn't North Dakota. What happens if we don't make it one year? It will look like the B1G tournament last year at the X. It would make the league look bad. We should seriously think about getting rid of the post-season tournament like the B1G and WCHA have done.

I always used to get the Best Western Regency Plaza Hotel-St. Paul East, located in Oakdale, MN. It is one mile north of the I94-I494-I694 interchange and has several restaurants nearby (Demori's, IHOP, Sgt. Peppers Bar & Grille). It is an easy drive from the east to downtown St. Paul. I also have figured out how to get a room there for about $50 using Priceline's Name Your Own Price feature every single time. If the NCHC moves the tournament to the X, I am definitely staying there again.

What has always bothered me is that if all this cash is flowing back into UND, why is UND always struggling with "lack of resources" for programs? The new REA must rake in many times what the old REA did, but it doesn't seem to make our budgets easier to balance.- 2,150 replies

Why does it cost UND over $2 million to use REA? I thought all these concerts, tennis matches, HS tournaments, circuses, etc. were supposed to help pay the operating expenses for the arena? I thought Ralph built this arena to benefit UND and give our programs a distinct advantage compared to everyone else with regard to financial resources? Honest questions, as I can't make sense of it all.- 2,150 replies

That level of intensity is just not there for a game that doesn't count in the standings or on the stat sheet. We'll bring it when it really matters. -
That is like Michigan and Ohio State not wanting to play each other in football. Crazy talk Fetch, crazy!

To be fair, almost everyone in the building thought it was an incomplete forward pass except for the zebras and Gordon.

I saw that too. Does Schlossman (who I am warming up to, believe it or not) really think we won't win another natty for 30 years? I hope that isn't what he meant because that is crazy talk. During our 16 year long championship drought, there were a couple of 30+ win teams who had single digit loss totals and a bunch of 25+ win teams with loss totals in the low teens. I don't think last year's team was a once in a generation occurrence. We aren't the Butler of NCAA Division I hockey, we are more like Duke, North Carolina or Kansas. -
It's a good thing the Olympics are before football season starts or that wouldn't be on either.

Hey now, comments like that sometimes come back to bite you in the a$$. Miami is a solid program and they aren't going anywhere.
