If you really believe that we would be talking about hosting an FCS playoff game as the #7 seed with Mussman still at the helm, then you are living in a different sports world than most of us.

Considering you were one of the posters on here lobbying for Mussman to keep his job, this comment isn't worth as much as you think it is.

This game will be on national cable television, so we won't want a bunch of empty seats.

The game vs. Montana was against a weak Griz team. The game vs. USD was exciting, but it also prolonged the Mussman regime.

I think any game in the Mussman era should be disqualified from consideration.

It had better be at least 8,000, with a good shot at 10,000+. No reason not to make this game a priority.

Outrageous! They need to come up with a Pairwise-style rating system for FCS so that actual numbers are used instead of giving certain teams auto-bids for being 6-5 every year. Something smells fishy with that.

And it is important to point out that the Slummit is NOT a "bus league", despite what some people will try to tell you. The distances are shorter than the Big Sky, but there still is significant travel involved outside of the Dakota schools. The days of a true "bus league" ended when the NCC did.

I am in Brainerd visiting my girlfriend and the roads are not good here. Talked to someone in town for youth hockey tomorrow and the roads are really bad from the Cities to Brainerd. Thankfully, I don't have to go anywhere until Sunday.

I have said this before and I will say it again: If we can't afford to do what it takes to run this athletic department as a Division I athletic department (and making sure we host a playoff game as the #9 seed is one example), then we should have stayed in Division II. We have to make a statement that we are serious about being a national player in FCS football. Also, these kids deserve a home playoff game with what they have done this season.
