  1. Agree...Thank God we had the foresight to rent a suite....the booze was needed.
  2. Don't hold your breath. They didn't do anything to Hansen from the Gophs last year after he jumped off the bench and delivered a 2 hander to the back of Ben Blood's legs.
  3. Yeah UND has had a couple guys over the years who have practiced some theatrics and I don't really remember Kraft and Pohl as being floppers. Spehar was in a class with Robbie Earl and Cepis was pretty bad as well. In the article, MacWilliam mentions that he was not taught to play that way(and I would guess discouraged). I think it is a cultural thing to some point. If you look at the players that are prone to dive the Euros flop more than anyone....maybe it comes from the soccer culture in many European countries? Americans are much more likely to flop than Canadian players which would explain why UND has probably had less of this activity than most other teams as it is probably not looked highly upon in the UND room by teammates or coaches.
  4. Greg---was horrible ref, current director of officiating Derek-Pretty decent official.....by WCHA standards anyway Brad-horrible official
  5. Someone mentioned Marlon Bell from Halliday a few posts back. Another guy that would have been scary with a 3 point line and he was so quick as well, a definite ankle breaker.....I remember him going to BSC and lighting it up for a bout 30 a game until Christmas time and semester break(grades) came......and he was never heard from again.
  6. I will say that in comparison to their competition, the 76 LaMoure team was the best team I saw play.....I will also say that in 1984 Linton was the best team in A or B. Class A that year went Century, St. Mary's, Bismarck High with Century beating St. Mary's by 2 for the title after St. Mary's had beat Bismarck by a deuce in the semi-finals...Linton went into St. Mary's Gym for their Holiday tournament, didn't get 1 call in their favor and still handled St. Mary's without much problem.
  7. If anyone thinks I am partially responsible for this thread going off the tracks I would just like to say.................you are welcome.

  9. Good memories! Grew up going to Class B tournament....Born in Hillsboro, lived in Litchville, and Linton before moving to Bismarck in 5th Grade. My father taught and then got into school administration until we moved to Bismarck. I was 11 in 1977 when The Epic Hillsboro vs. Epping game went down. Even though I was now living in a Class A town, my parents still wrote me an excuse to get out of school and/or I went and would work for free pop and hot dogs running the stats from the floor up to the press box at the quarter breaks. Of course everyone in town fell in love with Epping and my friends were all pretty confident Epping would win so I took them for some pretty serious cash!($1 at a time). I remember Hillsboro controlling the game for the most part until going into their vaunted, hated 4 corner offense that usually meant it was game over but somehow Epping rallied and got back into the game and it was really up for grabs until the end. The crowd in their was incredible. I remember a couple years later and my parents would usually be gone during the Class B tourney for my dad's business meetings so my Grandma would come and stay with us and my friends from Linton would come up and stay with me and during years they were not in the tourney, Hillsboro coach Eddie Beyer and Dr. Gibson would pick us up and shuttle us to all the games. I remember in 1979 being impressionable 7th graders and us thinking their was no way Halliday could lose with their run and gun offense. On the way to the game, Coach Beyer confidently bet us all a coke that Sargent Central the slow, plodding, eastern team would take them down....and they did. On the way home we asked him how he was so sure and he told us he was staying at the same hotel as Halliday was and that their team was whooping it up pretty good on Friday night/Saturday morning and looked to be in pretty tough shape when he saw them at breakfast. Coach Beyer told my friend Pete that he thought Hillsboro would have a pretty strong team in 1984(our graduation year) and asked how Linton would be. He bet Pete a coke on this possible future matchup and sure enough they met up in the semi-finals in 1984 on Linton's way to the state title....after the game Coach Beyer went into the locker room and congratulated the Linton team and wished them luck in the Championship, told Dennis Beck(the protypical 5-9 power forward he had never seen anything like him) and shook hands with Coach Carr and then turned and handed Pete a Coke. Love the Class B tourney, still a pretty good event, but not like it used to be before consolidation and big town private schools came along.
  10. Well i didn't say he was right.
  11. Parise Toews Oshie Frattin Malone Stafford Porter Zajac Greene Blake Smaby Finley Commodore Lee Vandevelde Chorney Watkins Nelson Genoway Are all guys who are either in the NHl, have played as recently as last year in the NHL, or on the verge of being in the NHL......but I think Mafiaman's point was BC wins NCAA titles with less NHL caliber players and more meat and potato guys(i.e. good college players).
  12. This is a privately owned website so I guess the owner can put up whatever content he wants to. I am sure he also looks at how many clicks the content he puts up gets as well and relies on past information to decide what he wants to put up. Here is a UND site for you to check out if you want complete sports coverage. http://www.undsports.com//
  13. I have 2 tickets for tomorrow night that I would sell for $50. I am in Fargo so arrangements would have to be made. Respond here or email me @ mike@coacheschoiceonline.com
  14. I didn't call him an idiot. I just pointed out he made an idiotic statement.Joe Biden makes idiotic statements all the time and no one thinks he is an idi.....nevermind.
  15. Wait....What? Did you just insinuate that I am a Gopher Fan?
  16. You do realize that making idiotic statements like this destroy any credibility you would have here to discuss and be taken seriously about college hockey. There was a reason that UND recruited him as hard as they did. Him and Condon are what used to be and still is the stereotypical Sioux power forward. Budish will have a 8-10 year career in the NHL....bookmark that.
  17. Floppers and Divers divisions....I kid, I kid.
  18. I am wondering what is going on with Chyzyk? Has pretty good scoring touch, isn't afraid to throw his body around. Unless he hasn't adjusted to the speed of the college game? Watched him play with the Force and he is way more skilled offensively than St. Clair, but maybe doesn't have Colton's motor.
  19. I thought so too...I rewinded and watched it a few times and went frame by frame.....it did not go in. It just floated by the far post after hitting the near post.
  20. I like Panzarella as well...Hak seems hesitant to play him on the big ice.
  21. Was there at the Excel in a Suite when that happened. Very surreal...it happened after a Gopher loss to CC if I remember right.
  22. Beat it nerd. #dbag #blanketpartynexttime #notfunny #noonelikesyou #attentionwhore
  23. So Hakstol was gracious and self depreciating at a Gopher Blue Line Luncheon.....weird.
