NDSU obviously could contend for the title in the Big Sky although I think their lack of depth would hurt them over the course of the season and try as you might you can't hold down the pace every night....at the same time they could just as easily finish 8th. They are certainly not head and shoulders above any of the top 10 in the Big Sky but I wouldn't say any of the 5th through 10th place teams are better than the Bison either. As far as NCAA tourney and RPI and conference rankings and all that...while I certainly understand them trying to sort teams on a objective basis to the point where they just plug the numbers in and let the computers spit out the results....well these are only as good as the numbers and data that someone chooses to use. At some point I would like the committee to be a little subjective and actually use their eyes to watch some basketball.....I saw FGCU in person a couple times last year as well as seeing NDSU, SDSU, and UND and when SDSU has a higher seed in the NCAA tourney than FGCU it really brought it to light. Anyone with any feel for the game that had watched these teams could have told you FGCU was easily 12-15 points better than the Jacks and the same looks to be shaping up this year as I see Mercer is pegged as a 14 seed while they are projecting NDSU as a 12. How much run is a win over the 13th best team in the ACC worth?

I think NDSU buys the airtime and sells the ads themselves. So I am pretty sure in looking at how KVLY has operated the last 2-3 years that for them it was a bottom line decision. How much does NDSU pay them for the airtime vs. their ad revenue during the hockey game + their NBC "fine" for not broadcasting the game + the amount of people they piss off and any blowback from that....I would assume that what NDSU decided to pay for the airtime was worth it for them unless they are complete idiots at KVLY which I wouldn't rule out.....but hey, if you want to watch something on NBC where you gonna go? On another note, it is amazing how KVLY has gone in the crapper locally with all the ownership and management changes the last couple years.

Well as someone whose original plan was to watch the Blackhawks and Penguins outdoor game on TV with the UND and St. Cloud game on my laptop I would have been a little upset that KVLY chose to put on a toilet summit league game instead but I would have gotten over it and just hooked my laptop up to my tv instead....as it turns out we made mid afternoon decision to go to St. Cloud for the game instead.

Ha. They may very well get 3 but the chances of them getting 2 are way higher than the chances of them getting 4.

The Grand Forks Bantam teams are dominant. One of them is 20-1 with a goal differential of 143-27 and the other is 18-0 with a differential of 174-27....Bismarck has a team at 16-8 and Fargo has a team at 15-8 and the parochial program at 14-5 followed by Minot and then the other Fargo 'public" team. The next level is a little more balanced with it being Grand Forks-1, Fargo-2, Grand Forks-3, Bismarck-4, and Fargo-5. If anything THA could drive a bigger gap between the ND teams with the edge to Grand Forks.

I have never sat in a seat at St. Cloud and have been to 17-18 games there over the last few years. Always have stood on the glass or against the wall or way up top even when I had a ticket for an assigned seat.

Actually they have gone out of their way to set up these very matchups....what they don't want is 2005 again.

it is amazing to me how time and time again this team with the experience they have can come out to start a game looking like my softball team does on a Sunday morning 8 am game in Detroit Lakes or at Red Willow. I can see having a clunker here or there or coming out flat a couple times but every other game is ridiculous.

I certainly don't like our substitution patterns either but in fairness to Jones on this one....Nash had a great first half scoring a foot from the rim and when he put him out there in the 2nd half he seemed to be pretty disinterested in or allergic to the paint for some reason....he isn't much of an asset 22 feet from the rim.

Ugh. That was the 2nd time that Bismarck had hands down the best team in the state and didn't get it done. I think they dominated Red River the whole game and outshot them by about 20 which was amazing as Bismarck was short handed for a huge portion of the game.

I like the Demons to exorcise the Ghost of Tom Philion and win the state title over Central 3-2 in overtime.
