  1. Records can be misleading when 1 or 2 conferences feed on the Atlantic Hockey Conference. 1. Hockey East 2. ECAC 3. NCHC 4. Big Ten 5. WCHA 6. AH That is how they shook out last year. I think in the near future, HE and the NCHC will fight for supremacy, but I have to agree with Bulk Truck on his point as Minnesota, Bucky, and Michigan aren't going anywhere and Penn State is committed to putting a quality team on the ice. Ohio State will never be a hockey school but if the Blue jackets maintain some success their could be a residual effect down the road and as it is now they aren't terrible and they aren't great. Sparty is a mess right now. The biggest impact on college hockey the Big 10 could have is if it adds additional hockey members(Nebraska?, Northwestern?, Illinois?, Indiana? Maryland?, Rutgers?)...if 3 years down the road the Big 10 hasn't added any additional teams the move to form a conference will have been terrible for college hockey in general. I think if a couple Big 10 teams jump you could see conference expansion in other areas as well(Texas, Arizona State, Iowa State, FGCU to name a few).
  2. .2.1 Five-Year Rule - A student-athlete shall complete his or her seasons of participation within five calendar years from the beginning of the semester or quarter in which the student-athlete first registered for a minimum full-time program of studies in a collegiate institution, with time spent in the armed services, on official church missions or with recognized foreign aid services of the U.S. government being excepted. For foreign students, service in the armed forces or on an official church mission of the student's home country is considered equivalent to such service in the United States. 14.2.3.5 Participation after 21st Birthday - Any participation as an individual or a team representative in organized sports competition by a student during each 12-month period after the student's 21st birthday and prior to initial full-time enrollment in a collegiate institution shall count as one year of varsity competition in that sport. Participation in organized competition during time spent in the U.S. armed services shall be excepted. To summarize the Five-Year rule, enrolling at college or university full time begins your five-year eligibility clock. For a player aiming at the NCAA, full-time enrolment could make them less attractive to schools/coaches recruiting future talent - by thus having less years to work with the player. For the most part, players that want to continue schooling while playing out their junior will attend as part-time students. This allows them to keep the edge on their studies while also being able to balance the rigors of playing junior hockey all the while keeping their NCAA eligibility intact. The second rule above may or may not be an issue for some players. In some cases, a player will turn 21 during their last year of junior. If so, a player cannot continue playing once their 21st birthday occurs if they are inline for the NCAA the following season. If they do continue to play, the player will lose a year of eligibility - again something that most coaches aren't that keen on when recruiting a prospective athlete.
  3. I actually get a kick out of Truck's "schtick"....it at least is somewhat thought out unlike your mindless drivel.
  4. So clever.
  5. And you probably wrote it. Do us all a favor and show yourself out.
  6. Have to give credit to NDSU. They played hard and competed against Oregon State and lost a tough game to UNLV.

  11. Not sure if I can like this idea enough. Capriotti's is fantastic!
  12. Put me in the "Hope Bubba can pull UND out of the crater that Mussman left behind and get UND back to being a legitimate playoff team and let the NCAA make the game" camp. As far as emails go, Faison's next email to Taylor should be along the lines of Gene, You have the contracts you asked for and if you suddenly are overcome with a case of integrity and want to sign them we will honor them. As to your other offers and posturing.....eat a dick. Regards Brian

  14. Greene has played 9 of their 15 games so far. 5-4 with him in lineup and 3-3 with him watching.

  16. IN!!! Great idea. Book your trip to Vegas.....if 1 or 2 of your teams are there....bonus!
  17. Massive stupidity from the lunatic left.......it's a disease
  18. Settle down. She also has relatives that played at UND.
  19. I thought Frank was an executive officer in the Good Ole Boys Blues Brothers Band....That said, by reading a couple other posts in this thread it seems that some are actually giving credibility to anything that Erich Longie says which in itself is hilarious.

  21. Corporal punishment in this area went away in that late 80's. There was certainly bullying in school when I was growing up but kids are much more brazen now because many parents these days refuse to believe that their kids could ever do anything wrong. I do remember kids used to respect authority figures whether it be a teacher, administrator, lunch room attendant, or bus driver and knew that if they bullied or made fun of another kid there was a very good chance they were going to get smacked in the back of the head or yanked out of their seat by their collar or ear......now if that happened the little shits parents would sue. Plus where I grew up(Linton and Bismarck) I guess there must have been enough "good" kids to police this activity. Quick story Back in high school myself and a buddy(he was our heavyweight wrestler) were walking down the hall to the lunch room and 3 kids were harassing a kid who was in special education classes at our school and they had dumped his books and were mocking him. We walked up and confronted them and we each grabbed 1 kid and slammed them against the lockers and told the other kid to pick up his books. This happened right outside the teachers lounge and made enough noise when we slammed them against the lockers that a couple teachers came running out into the hall, assessed the situation and walked back in the room and closed the door behind them. Now days those teachers would probably get fired or suspended.
