  1. Is Nebraska running some other Assistant out of the state on a rail this year?
  2. As much as I'd hate to start completely over w/ a coaching staff, I feel like we're in a lot of trouble here. . . I have a hard time believing Bubba is our guy and wish there was a good FBS assistant out there w/ some potential. As much as last year could partially be blamed on injuries, especially on the defensive side, I still thought we could have done more on Offense that would have given us more chances to win some of those games. Ruddy should have never been hired in the first place, as bad as he was at Minot State, but to hold on to him this long is the worst insult to injury. We play the Bison next year, and are moving to the MVFC the year after that? Not w/ these guys as coaches. . . And them spouting last week, that "it's really important that we win out to make the playoffs" drove me nuts. No, it was important that you won the Weber State game. They were supposed to be "win or die" on that game first and I never heard that. (Although, I was in Vegas, maybe I missed it). I pretty much knew we were hosed after we lost to Weber. We just can't close, it seems like. I give up.
  3. There are also huge pre-game parties in front of the Orleans arena both Friday and Saturday. I believe they are playing the NHL game on the big screen Friday and possibly the UND football game on Sat. afternoon? Not 100% on the football game, but I thought I'd heard that somewhere. . .
  4. Is the Irish Pub still open in New York, New York? I haven't been to Vegas in 10 years, but man, I had a blast at the pub last time I was there!!!
  5. So speaking of this to someone who seems to know what they are talking about. . . . here's a technical question: So if defensive coordinators automatically "make adjustments" at half time, do really good Offensive coordinators prepare for that and plan to do what's working, but also throw in some different plays/plans for the second half? I'll try to watch closer this week, but if you "script" your first 10 or whatever plays the first half, do you mix up your second half to circumvent the defensive adjustments? Or am I overthinking this? Seems like the last home game, we scored in the first half, they adjusted and we stalled.
  6. All I know is that article on Sat. morning made my day. . . reading about whiny Bison fans complaining about the Nickel makes me smile every time.
  7. I just can't believe anyone on this forum is defending that jerk of a president after his dog and pony show of parading coaches and players in front of a committee that never decided anything. He's dead to me after that. And she's right. Tom Clifford was the best president we ever had, and we need to go back to someone w/ some North Dakota roots instead of a crappy pol from Minnesota. Oh, and if I was president of the Champions Club who gets all the extra money add-on money from ticket sales, I'd be in his office telling him what an idiot he is. Wait until the REA contract is up and screw it up then as you will. I only hope he's not still president at that point.
  8. Good Lord, if you're going to go, don't buy your tickets on Ticketmaster. Go to the NCAA.com/exchange site where tickets are being sold waaaaay under face value. . . including mine, by the way!! It looks like I might end up going cuz $100 below face value for both nights is as low as I'm willing to go . . . Granted, then I'll have to cheer for Duluth to make the Championship game so I can make some money back on the Sat. tickets and watch the game across the street at the bar.
  9. I think it would be better if Notre Dame won, just because it was their first year in the Big Ten. That should hardly count. But I don't know, I didn't watch much of it, but seeing how Ohio State dismantled Denver makes me think they'll be tough. . . it almost looked like a Big Ten team playing DEFENSE?! P.S. I really wish Air Force was there. . . .
  10. I have 4 tickets and it looks like I'm going to get hosed on them. The Big Ten fans are really coming through for me. . . I just have to decide how big of a hit I want to take on them before I decide I have to go and cheer for Notre Dame.
  11. Yeah, it got a little long not being able to leave between games. Especially if you had kids with you. Our friends go to a lot of USHL games there, so we knew a couple tricks (like where the big bucket nachos were, they were pretty good. Not the Ralph's brisket nachos, but we can't hold them to that standard). It's probably ok for them that UND didn't make it the first time they hosted, just so they could practice w/ a little smaller attendance. (Not so good for Sioux fans, of course.)
  12. Went to Sioux Falls this weekend and had a great time. Usually shut down hockey season after the Sioux are out, but we had tickets, were staying w/ friends and taking the kids. It was helpful that there was a team to cheer for (GO AIR FORCE!!), so we Amazon 2-dayed (not sure if that's a word!) our Air Force shirts and cheered like crazy when they beat St. Cloud. Tough beat vs. Duluth, but I suppose it was a little expected. All the kids thought the refs weren't exactly Air Force fans though! The Denny was nice, w/ the to be expected couple of glitches due to learning all the crazy NCAA rules. (We got covers and straws for our drink cups on Sat.) I still never did find a program, but the kids had fun, my 5 year old got an Air Force puck (super cool!) and the roads weren't too bad on the way home to Bismarck . . .. just a bad stretch around Valley City, then it cleared up closer to Jamestown.
  13. We're still going to Sioux Falls, overnighting my Falcons gear as we speak. Would seriously LOVE to see Mankato get a title before St. Cloud as well, so might throw some purple in the suitcase as well. As bad as it is that we didn't make it, there are at least two teams I can cheer for. So, oh, well. . . .
  14. Are you kidding?!!! The only reason we were in this is he pulled the Captain down to the third line mid - game.... the man is a god....
  15. Boy, I'd LOVE to be watching the game you're watching..... Pogo's playing like a termite....
  16. Totally agree!! They had some bad luck w/ their conference holding the three or four best teams in the country all the time. Could they still have been better? Sure. But being in that conference sure didn't help. It's tough to get to the NCAAs when you're dealing w/ that every year. It was especially bad timing seeing how well some of last year's players are playing for other teams this year (Wisconsin's goalie). Anyway, maybe someday someone will figure out a way. If I win the Powerball, they're back!!
  17. I agree. . . Stauber made a good decision to finally put the twins on the same line, but he should have played them on the Power Play (I don't think he did at all until the third period). I don't know about the OT. I'm still on the fence about splitting them up. He should have dumped the Kessel line down to 4th in the 3rd period and rolled the other three more often. . . especially the twins' and Marvin's line.
  18. That Gopher line, Kessel in particular, just played awful all tournament. It's lucky she scored in the shootout, or I'd have been really pissed. Even the announcers, "they need to play the twins' line more". The Gopher line would barely shoot. Trying to do pretty ticky tack crap. The Canadians just pushed them around. And on the shoot out, you can't just go straight at the goalie, you have to get them going side to side. I definitely thought he should have put the twins in the first five, but I guess it worked out perfectly.
  19. Totally agree... was pleasantly surprised by the goalie switch.... gave me a little hope, like the coaches knew how important the game was... i think Cam might be the best goalie, but, DUDE, buckle down on the softies....
  20. They didn't say anything about the pipelines. . . that has definitely helped the situation. Protesters be damned. . .
  21. The point is, if we had a cool enough mascot, maybe it would eventually overshadow the horrific logo. Of course, the way things have been going through this whole process, the odds of this happening are not great. . . they screw up everything. But a kid can hope. . . .
  22. I'm all for a mascot if only because it might put something out there cooler than the logo we have now. But I was someone who wanted a logo that was a foghorn leghorn-type (but a little meaner looking) hawk in a leather aviation helmet and leather jacket possibly in a plane, etc. Something a little cooler. . . and tougher. A cigar in his mouth would have been cool too, but I suppose that would have been pushing it. . .
  23. I think after he lost Britta Curl to the Badgers, the higher ups just thought, "we're screwed, we might as well just save the money."
