  1. People are upset with a player that committed to come back to UND changing his mind after getting new information on his chances at the next level and took it. That spot is (reportedly) being filled by someone who committed to play in the BCHL this year but due to changing circumstances, got his shot to come to UND and took it. Just want to make sure we're collectively being consistent with our "outrage" over people changing their decisions and doing what is best for their own development based on new information and opportunities.
  2. I want to make sure I get ahead of this so I know whether to be outraged or not. Are we supposed to be upset with this decision since he had committed to play with a different team this year already (even though the situation has changed) or do we give this one a pass since he's coming to UND and not from UND? Either way, glad they found someone and hope he makes the best of the opportunity in front of him.
  3. On the other hand, you would have had (valid) criticism if they would have made the call 2 or 3 weeks ago without waiting to see if numbers started trending down. Not a surprise, but they haven't. Anyone who didn't see this coming based on national and local trends are kidding themselves. Numbers are almost entirely in line with the exact same time last year (with about half the testing) on the way to a fall spike. Let's hope (for many reasons) that the measures taken over the last year means things start heading the other way quickly.
  4. How many years in a row has it been trending down? Not like it's a new phenomenon.
  5. None of the current players were Fighting Sioux either but.... For the record, I think it would be cool if they were the period correct uniforms.
  6. It's almost like there was a change in the information he based his decision off of. That isn't "doing whatever he wants, whenever he wants." You think maybe San Jose watched him in camp over the last week and decided to make a much more aggressive offer? If that same offer was made this spring, he would have taken it at the time? Not all that different than plenty here who have likely turned down an offer for a different job and letting your employer you aren't leaving only to get a much more significant offer and accepting it. While the timing is not ideal for UND and finding a replacement of equal skill-set isn't likely, making a decision 45+ days before the first game is in no way "a close second" to quitting mid-season. I would also be pretty confident that the coaching staff was in the loop as the decision was being made. But hey, according to some, he wasn't all that great anyway and others get to finally take out their built-up micro-aggressions from past issues and use this decision as cover for the criticism.
  7. Sorry. Had to.
  8. What does that have to do with absolutely anything? If you're going to feel the need to run lm around the internet defending someone by tossing out hypotheticals, then don't be surprised when someone responds in kind.
  9. You're right, it was closer to 5. You left out the 2 passes that defensive backs dropped.
  10. Yep, wish we could have someone like him. But that was almost 30 years and 4 presidents ago (not counting 2 interims). I'll take Armacost over anyone since Clifford.
  11. LOL. Bring back Kupchella I guess. Maybe Baker or Kelley? The reviews I've heard from a wide spectrum of people. Given the hand he's been dealt, quite a few no win situations but the feedback is pretty damn positive despite that.
  12. I'd guess Smith will move into that back-up/3rd string spot but the problem is we don't have anyone behind Mitchell who has his skillset (which is more Skokna-like than Weah-like). Possible one of the WR's slides in to that type of role of lining up all over the field. Keeping Weah and Skokna healthy just became that much more important.
  13. Big loss. He was going to be a contributor all over the field this year. Pretty bad break. Best wishes on a speedy recovery to him.
  14. Pretty sure Tim is hired by Learfield. Maybe he'd have insight into the media rights but it isn't the first place I'd be checking.
  15. Interesting (though I disagree). Doesn't UND contract with Learfield to help negotiate those contracts?
  16. It definitely won't be once they figure out why everyone is calling him Mike.
  17. Agree fully with this. Pretty obvious going to the REA that some of the shine has worn off. Our simple friend from the south was arguing a few weeks back that fan interest is still sky high. It is nowhere near what it was. He admitted as much today.
  18. Yes - 10/29/22 They get 100 complimentary tickets, no word on the split of others. Hopefully https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/7154661-Its-booked-UND-hockey-is-headed-back-to-Vegas
  19. Champions Club presale for single game tickets started this morning before going on sale to the general public later this week.
  20. Again, UND's ticket sales have zero to do with this. I know staying on topic can be hard for you but if you want to have a separate discussion about that, let's finish this one first. I clearly stated NDSU is in an enviable position in regards to most of the sub-division but interest is without a doubt dwindling. You're the one parading around here and claiming that it is still stronger than ever. Actual evidence clearly states otherwise.
  21. Single game tickets went on sale in Fargo yesterday. Based on current available inventory, I don't think Simple Dan will be taking the over on number of sellouts.
  22. Not a coincidence that changed within the last 2-3 years....
  23. This one always cracks me up. Literally only 8 teams make the NCAA tournament. They lost in the first round (admittedly in an epically close game to a powerhouse Gopher team).
  24. Things were on and there was plenty of distribution, but good luck trying to figure out what channel and/or what time anything was on. Their promotion of how/when to watch things was brutal. As it relates to being on the other side of the world, results and even the highlights or the entire events themselves were available on social media well before NBC was able to show them in "prime time" in ways they have in the past. No more waiting around the TV at night to see how things happened. I have no doubt their TV ratings were down, but that's pretty much par for the course for sporting events these days.
