  1. I don't think it was a big secret to begin with and it was in the news a week or two before they closed. Guessing having Hyundai as a single flagged dealership was tough.
  2. Ah the fish bowl. I like the updated look but agree that something that is a bit more of a throwback would have been a nice touch even if it was out of place.
  3. Hardly. I let my concerns be known directly to those in a position to do something and listen to the responses given. I find it much more worthwhile than coming up with my own theories and then complaining into the abyss. I don't think the kneeling had anything to do with it. I know any donation issues were just a blip on the radar. I think people aren't comfortable attending large events, particularly considering the average age of UND fans. I also think UND made it a it tough if you were anything more than a group of two to go. I do think attendance will be a bit higher the next few weekends now that people know what to expect. While I actually buy the "price" argument to a point, I also think its a fairly weak excuse that some people used instead of saying they weren't comfortable going. There are plenty with legititmate concerns and personal issues that personal finances were a true hinderance but if that's the case, I highly doubt an extra $40-50/pair of tickets over what they normally cost made the difference. Especially considering plenty of people rolled their donations over (or took a refund) and likely have some extra entertainment dollars to spare given lack of events in general. Frankly, its probably a longer-term concern that's been growing, I think people don't mind watching sports in the comfort of their home as they thought they did. Its been brewing the last few years with empty seats and considerable drop in secondary interest.
  4. But I thought the demand was going to be through the roof and those that got tickets were going to retire early reselling them on the secondary market? Do you really think the price was the sole reason for people not attending the first home game in almost 11 months? An extra $20-30 a ticket is all it takes to turn off the fanbase? Those prices were below secondary prices in past years for lower bowl and not much different for the upper bowl seats (secondary or directly from UND).
  5. That's definitely a fair point to make, Studsrud did what he was asked when he could have done a lot more, partiularly with his legs and the offense he was in held him back. I just see them both as "game-manager" type QB's who are going to keep drives alive with smart/low-risk plays and not turn the ball over. Doesn't mean there won't be deep shots taken, they will just be calculated. I do think he'll get pushed some this spring, but I just don't think the other guys are there yet. Wouldn't be surprised to see more Boltman sprinkled in. Next fall is when the QB room gets even more interesting. This year's freshman have a full year under their belt and there is a chance TF could be pushing for playing time right taway.
  6. The staff knows what they will get with him. Steady, accurate and minimizes mistakes. Probably a lot like Studsrud, he'll keep you in the game and won't lose them for you, but won't win a bunch on his own. I see him playing this spring quite a bit, not sure it's clicking for the other guys yet. I think he'll have a legit challenger showing up this fall.
  7. Drew 21 fouls and shot 22 free throws, right in line with the first 4 games of the conference season. What a soft team Nice win tonight.
  8. Considering UND averaged 20 free throws a game and drew just short of 20 fouls a game the first 4 conference games and that all of the sudden dropped to 0 and 5, I'm going to save hurting my back to throw the whole team under the bus as fast as I can.
  9. That call on G was terrible. Not sure how you get called for a guy jumping in your back as you go straight up for a board.
  10. I think it is more of shock both the school and athletic department's doors are still open. In 2019, they had $5,544 in ticket sales adn $1,500 outside contributions to their athletic department.
  11. "Commit to an analysis of all implications of a move to FBS" That analysis should be pretty easy: The numbers don't actually work.
  12. We had people saying the secondary market would be outrageous due to the limited supply of tickets. If that's what the demand truly is, why not let UND get a nice cut of it for the exact reasons you stated? If you want to calculate what the cost for season ticket holders is: Champions Club donation of likely $1500 at minimum plus another $160 for tickets for what is hopefully 8 games, all fo the sudden the price being asked for single game tickets doesn't seem so bad. And for those who rolled their money over or asked for a refund, ponying up for a game or two at that price shouldn't be that big of a deal.
  13. Here is the only reason he's been "in contact" (whatever that means) with Cincinnati. Doesn't mean there is mutual interest. https://gobearcats.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/craig-heatherly/1714
  14. It was a mutual decision, he didn't "get away". A fresh start for both sides was the ideal outcome.
  15. Seems apropos. Actually I think the question is why are they settling on 3,000 rather than 5,000. Want to use lower bowl only?
  16. Frankly, probably makes sense for them if that is what they want to do. I don't see them getting into the Summit anytime soon and with Krabbenhoft out at Sanford, they lost a big chunk of leverage.
  17. Looking at those teams, their budgets and amount of subsidies they already receive, I don't see any way that FBS is actually legitimate. That being side, it is good for their to be another west(ish) coast conference for FCS.
  18. But based on performance the last three years (since Kirk has been in Minnesota) and then taking into account Wentz's injury history, why would the Vikings even remotely consider that and take on a huge cap hit with the dead money they would owe Cousins? Especially when they have plenty of needs to fill. Eagles have even bigger issues. Wentz hasn't even started the expensive extension he signed yet. Though with signing bonuses, his contract for a team that would trade for him would be something like 4 years/$98 million. However they would eat some significant dead cap money while already being over the salary cap. But if they decide to move on from Wentz, it is because they are comfortable with Hurts (or they draft another QB at 11....) so they don't have a need for Cousins at that point.
  19. And there is no problem with that, each person was given a full set of options to do what they want with all money given to UND. Different people have different circumstances. But I sure as hell wouldn't be leading with "go pound sand" when UND offered full refunds for anyone who wanted them and is allowing them to keep their seats for them for next season even if they pull back every dollar they had given to UND for 2020/2021.
  20. Based on what I've been told, a lot of donors were very generous with their donation and quite a few with their ticket money as well. Still scholarships and other bills to pay, so that's a good thing. Not exactly sure what telling "UND to go pound sound" accomplished because if you got tickets, you were only charged for the games that are scheduled to be played (8 vs. 21) on a prorated basis ($160 vs. $420). If you wanted your money back (ticket or donation), you got it back. Not sure how anyone could say anything besides UND was more than fair and willing to work with people and basically give them whatever option they wanted, especially knowing they were going to face some upcoming budget issues. There were plenty of schools who refused to refund part or all of donations and/or ticket purchases.
  21. Considering it is/was completely erroneous, there is no further convseration to be had on it. Not a great look to throw unfounded rumors out about one of the athletic departments biggest donors.
  22. Considering the damage they did to the walls up there last time they visited, surprised they didn't put them out in something like you described.
  23. In no way a fan of Ellison but did EGF quit taking money from St Paul and everyone missed it or....?
  24. Yes, with the distinct difference that it was always a path to FBS and UND was somehow involved. He had a knack for finding obscure bits of info but always just read a bit too much into them. His insight was always interesting to read even if I didn't agree with most of it. I don't even know how that school is still open, let alone supporting athletics.
