  1. The football team? Not sure you'll be allowed courtside wearing the 3 stripes.
  2. Might have helped since they were working on getting the inside temp up to do some interior work. Construction continues to be behind. For sure not usable this spring and probably not this summer, though shouldn't be needed. Heard some good things about the track that is being put in. Only one other one with similar specs/surface/etc in the world (I believe in Brazil).
  3. Serious question - Is this a legislature issue? Or whomever was on the Challenge Fund committee (thinking Wrigley in particular)? Or something that is just going to get swept under the rug per usual?
  4. Just a limit on number of new players per year and number of kids at the fall ball before school starts. I believe some of the transfers don't count toward next years number due to enrolling this semester.
  5. Depending on which teams are placed there. The team allotments would be the only remaining tickets.
  6. Any reason you couldn't do a sub-forum under the tickets. Something like: Siouxsports / UND Community / Tickets wanted / Other Items for Sale or would you have to do a completely separate forum for Items for Sale, moving out of UND Community, and then separate out tickets and other item Siouxsports / Items for Sale / Tickets wanted Siouxsports / Items for Sale / Other items for sale Thought being having the tickets separate is probably easier/cleaner. I have no clue how much work any of this would be. I think you do a great job running the site, just throwing some ideas out there.
  7. I can agree with this as well but I also have a hard time accepting it if it was something that is holding up a department wide deal. Would the contract require head to toe gear or would the players have the option of different footwear even at their own expense?
  8. I know the answer but guessing this wasn't podcasted or available to listen if you didn't catch it live correct? Am curious to hear what he actually said.
  9. The three non-profits that are involved in running the REA are UND Arena Services (management of the REA) , UND Sports Facilities Inc (day to day operations of the REA) and Ralph Engelstad Arena (owner of the actual building). UND Sports Facilities pays UND Arena Services a management fee every year.
  10. I think they should have to return the $150K they got in matching funds. As should Minot State and Dickinson State. Make them explain to the donors that they don't understand how rules work. Yes. Yes. And yes.
  11. The information I was told was a few years back but guessing most of it still holds true. If anyone sees anything that is incorrect, feel free correct it. -UND gets the ticket price for the hockey games, season and single game (less all the fees attached on). They do contrac with the REA for handling the ticket sales -Concessions and Sioux Shop I'm not as sure on. Some of the concessions are run by outside vendors (Little Caesar's, TCBY, Red Pepper, etc) and pay some sort of rent, I believe the rest are run by the REA in some fashion. That goes through the REA's financials (UND Sports Facilities Inc). Sioux Shop might be the same but its also possible it might be a separate entity, again not sure on that one. -I believe that UND and the REA have a usage agreement. I don't know what that dollar amount is but I believe the terms are favorable for UND. -The other thing I'm not sure about is how the suite arrangement is done or what the revenue split on that is. This year UND would have received $405 from all season ticket holders as that was the cost of the tickets (a little over $18/game this year). The Champions Club would have received the donations that were required for those tickets. You also need to account for increase in the number of student tickets in your calculation. And again, UND contracts with the REA to handle all the ticket sales, distribution, etc. Total ticket sales for the entire athletic department were just under $4.1 million last year. Not sure how much of this helps but it is my understanding of how things work.
  12. Just wonderful. I didn't hear it and I will continue to give Jones the benefit of the doubt on the court this year but that is the kind of stuff that is not acceptable when UND is trying to form a partnership that will benefit the entire athletic department, assuming it came across on the air the way it reads on here.
  13. They aren't coming here and guessing the Stony Brook buyout is fairly significant since they already played in Grand Forks. Plus their fans have already decided that a MAC or other low level FBS school is coming in.
  14. This. They couldn't secure the proper type of donations and did an end-around at the end otherwise the leftover funds would have been available for other schools to compete for.
  15. The number isn't a big secret. I've sat through presentations that Jody has done where its been openly laid out, though this was a few years ago so I don't remember what they were or know what they are currently. It is probably listed somewhere in their tax returns which are available freely online due to them being a non-profit or possibly even in the UND Foundation annual report. Also remember that cash flow from the Ralph also pay back the bonds that were used to build the Betty. I'm not sure if the services the REA provides (tickets, etc) are netted out before or after money exchanges hands.
  16. I mean any chance you get to be on the same side of a questionable issue as Dickinson State is, you definitely have to take.
  17. I agree with the first part a lot. They aren't a slam dunk into any conference like people keep thinking. Just being Arizona State isn't enough to get them a conference invite, they have a lot of things to work out first. They are aware of it as are the conferences they are talking to (the NCHC being one of them). Not sure I agree on how much they'll struggle but I don't know anything about their coach. The PAC conference, if it ever happens, is probably at least a decade out. Any conference that takes them has to assume they will be part of the fold for a decent amount of time.
  18. Kinda most definitely doesn't fit the legislations exact wording of "exclusively to the advancement of academics". And getting more students doesn't necessarily bolster academics either despite what Joe Chapman thought when he was working on bankrupting NDSU. Agree with homer. The legislature needs to clarify this.
  19. Huge surprise.... Brief summary: It has to do with the matching program the state set up for grants where for every $2 dollars raised privately and donated to one of the higher ed schools, the state would match with $1. Six different donors contributed a combined $300K to NDSU that was earmarked for athletic scholarships and the state matched it with another $150K (Dickinson State and Minot State each had 2 donors who contributed $80K and $90K respectively and received half that in matching). The purpose of the grants were to be used for projects dedicated exclusively to the advancement of academics as specifically stated by the legislation that approved the grants. Football/Athletic scholarships wouldn't seem to fall into that category. I'll just save the trolls some time and respond for them: Nothing to see here....move along....what's the big deal....Wrigely passed on Zinc's question on it...etc
  20. Nothing personal, but I've heard a lot different stories. ASU joining the NCHC will have nothing to do with whether Notre Dame gets invited or not. They have a long way to go before the NCHC will actually extend them an invite though as its been stated, they've been in contact for quite a while now. They don't have unlimited options where to go, pretty much limited to the NCHC, WCHA or the B1G (and that is only if they make a very rare exemption to a school that doesn't fit their footprint or academic standards, which they are very protective about). And Notre Dame's demands were not an excuse for breaking off talks, if the NCHC was going to cave, they would have done so originally. Their demands were too much for anyone to deal with and they aren't going to put one school that far above the others. BC makes very little sense for the NCHC even if there were initial talks. Again, maybe you heard some different things but some of that is pretty far off from what I've been told.
  21. When did they move the players parents up to the Cantina?
  22. All you've heard is Brewster's tweet, which is why you read it and responded to it before posting a whole lot of nothing here.
  23. ASU has a lot of stuff to figure out and straighten out before they will be let into the NCHC. They are aware of it as is the conference.
