The first extension in 2012 was the right move. I am not going to defend the second one he gave him a year later. Its interesting that Steve Brekke actually gave him his first extension. Be curious to know where he stands on the situation today.

They were one win away from a dance trip last year. A last second shot and another win two years before. The results are what they are but if you can't understand the realities of the situation, including the financial part of it, then I'm not sure what to tell you. I've stated since early in the season that the leash was likely pretty long from being close to winning the conference tournament last year (and pretty decent showing in conference tournaments the previous two years) despite a lot of other disappointments in those seasons. Expectations weren't high and the definitely lived up to it, though with a lot of closer games than most people expected. Next year is going to be pretty definitive.

Who said he did? He also let him go after two consecutive sub-par seasons after giving him an small extension and a small bump in pay that may or may not have been deserved. Sound familiar? If history is any indication, people shouldn't be shocked that Jones is still the head coach and should understand what next year means for his ongoing employment status.

Faison didn't hire Jones. Other than that, carry on...

Did you miss the part where he gave those right back at the other end? Two ends to the court... The most noticeable quick hooks came after guys threw up garbage 3 pointers, though frankly in my opinion he should have done it more often. You only need to look the rotation/minutes de Rouen and Nash played to see that he would (though not always) pull a player for playing outside the offense. There were noticeable cuts in playing time for certain players because of their play. Hobaugh, while be no means is the most talented guy on the team, saw a ton of minutes. More than I thought he should of at the beginning of the year. But if you watch him play, he plays within the system, hustles, makes the extra pass, etc. If that isn't sending a message, not sure what else you can do. I don't agree with all of the rotations and personnel decisions, but no one ever will.

There is a third place game so if they win this weekend, they play two games in Minneapolis regardless.

But did you put $5 in the jar for your CIT comment yesterday? Nope but if there is going to be a whole offseason of complaints, it'd at least be nice to know that people voiced their opinion to someone who can do something about them instead of hoping someone would read it here.

Bumping this so people can get their actual name on record with someone who can actually make a difference.

UND tips a rebound into UNC's basket. Seems about right.

Both teams in the bonus with 11 to go. Nash and Shanks both out with flu like symptoms.

Lots of fouls being called the second half. Lead cut down to 2.

Going with a deep bench and letting the seniors get a few extra minutes. Need to put together a run and get some defensive stops. Missing a bunch of layups and close shots again.

They do actually offer a couple bucks off Saturday basketball games if you show your hockey ticket (can't remember if its Friday or Saturday's or doesn't matter). I've heard them announce it at the hockey games Friday nights and have seen people use it at the ticket off Saturday afternoons. Don't think its more than $2 or something but I think its at least a start to you're idea.

I've talked to multiple good friends that are alum's of NDSU (everyone has their faults) and they are making the trip back for this game and are not concerned about the price of tickets, they will pay the market price. They remember what the games were like when we were all in college and don't want to miss it. The demand will come from both sides regardless of what you need to go proclaim on a non-rivals message board.

Just a few off the top of my head - You've now eliminated any chance for out of town fans being able to catch both a hockey game and a MBB. You not only have to get the Big Sky to adjust the men's schedule, they have to make sure the women's schedule accommodates it as well since they play opposite each other. You need to address the intramural and youth hockey that relies on the REA for both sheets. Good luck on convincing women's hockey to move to the Olympic and a bigger sheet. Plus someone will need to pay to pay for the upgrades there. Oh and the REA will point to the 3,200 seat addition that they paid for and suggest that maybe they'll consider it once it consistently even gets near full.
-
Well, their fans have been practicing their chants for this game for over a decade...

Big Sky reviewing bids for M/W tournaments for 2016-18

Very, very intrigued to watch this unfold and to see what it looks like. I honestly hope they do a good job in pulling it off, definitely sounds like everyone involved or affected has the right attitude about the whole situation. -
Which single game ticket will be priced highest this season by the NDSU ticket office? Looking at the pricing for basketball tickets this year, the answer is pretty obvious. I guess their plan is to gouge UND fans since NDSU fans have so little interest in this game?
-
This should make it clear to those who wonder why basketball will never be a permanent tenant in the REA.

Considering that both of those were in use before the settlement agreement, I think you'd have a hard time convincing someone they are new, as they settlement requires. Even if you think you might win that argument, the NCAA sure isn't going to let it slide with out a nice, lengthy court battle. Not worth wasting more money on a losing battle.
-
You're severely overestimating the actual money the NCAA and UND received in royalties and licensing fees.
-
I don't think you quite understand it. Trademark law requires is what requires them to use it occasionally or they lose it. The settlement agreement requires, in regards to the nickname and logo, that it shall remain "the sole property of UND and shall not be further assigned, released, abandoned, exercised or otherwise used, except as expressly permitted" with the exception that it could be assigned or transferred to any Sioux nation or tribe. The settlement agreement basically requires them to occasionally use the logo or they would lose control of it because of the trademark laws. Hence the creation of the Dacotah Collection.
-
That would be a direct violation of the settlement agreement.

Seems to work for William and Mary. They were just required to remove the feathers from their previous logos and it was deemed as acceptable by the NCAA.
