  1. I might actually have to go check that out.
  2. Made a little bit of a fix to your post. Also think it should be pointed out the link also has this comment:
  3. You might be able to make a similar argument on the women's side about Madi Buck.
  4. I guess I'm not sure when you considered the nickname issue "resolved" but UND could have got in the Summit at basically any point in the past. The hang-up was the MVFC and it had nothing to do with the nickname. UND was in constant contact with both ever since they got in the Big Sky. Both sides knew that the Summit invite was pointless until the MVFC had the votes.
  5. A little more detail on the adidas deal: Agreement gives UND $1.345 million in free gear over the next 7 years Incentives for teams who win conference and national championships Hockey team will wear CCM for one more season then transition. Adidas is the current jersey provider for NHL.
  6. He did it to cut down on travel costs and re-align with historical rivals. A move that was not possible until the MVFC finally caved and allowed UND to join. That was literally the hold up since the beginning.
  7. To be more accurate, it's just one of the names the beat writer tossed out. He even states he doesn't know whether there is interest from USD or the candidates in any of them. However Horner is becoming a bit of a trendy name getting tossed around.
  8. Winning an autobid in the Summit is going to be a hell of a lot harder than it was in the Big Sky.
  9. Not a surprise. Quit once during the season and played 6 minutes in 2 games after the 1st of the year. Likely be one or two more. If the team was going to get back on track, they needed to do something to shake up the roster because they were short on talent this year, especially the guard spots. Losing FF is a big hit though. Coach needs to steady the ship or the SD schools are going to make UND look silly next year. Still not sure on what his actual contract situation is but I feel comfortable that the new AD doesn't owe anyone anything and unbiased observations are being made across the board.
  10. Interesting comparison on UND and MSU-Moorhead: After successful season in 2016/17, MSU-M lost 5 seniors to graduation and 1 transfer (a freshman). 5 of the 6 players lost averaged double digit minutes, with the one being a senior who saw minimal playing time. This season, MSU-M only had one senior, and had to replace 59% of their scoring and 60% of their minutes played, including 3 of the top 4 in both categories. The went from 24-6 (19-3 in conference) and an NCAA regional appearance to 7-22 (5-17 in conference). UND lost 4 seniors and 3 transfers (2 juniors and 1 sophomore). 5 of the 7 players lost averaged double digit minutes, the two were seniors who saw minimal playing time. This season, UND only had one senior (a transfer) and had to replace 61% of their scoring and 61% of minutes played including 4 of the top 7 in each category. They went from 22-10 (14-4 in conference) and an NCAA appearance to 12-20 (6-12 in conference). So......with that known, can anyone shed some more light on what happened down in Moorhead? This season seemed more of an abberation for a Walthall team, but the similarities are interesting.
  11. Might be an interesting offseason, guessing there will be some more changes.
  12. I don't have the marketing budget for recruitment (good luck getting that), but I do have actual total enrollment numbers. I'm sure the breakdown on incoming freshman class is out there somewhere if someone really wants to get into the numbers. UND will obviously have a larger amount of students from outside the region due to aviation and online enrollment. 2011 was the furthest back NDSU has publicly available. 2011 UND had an enrollment of 14,697 with 6,041 (41.1%) from ND and 5,038 (34.3%) from MN NDSU had an enrollment of 14,399 with 6,676 (46.4%) from ND and 5,886 (40.9%) from MN 2017 UND had an enrollment of 14,416 with 4,904 (34.0%) from ND and 4,859 (33.7%) from MN NDSU had an enrollment of 14,358 with 6,314 (44.0%) from ND and 6,419 (44.7%) from MN
  13. 2 years, 62 games, left after his sophomore year 2 years, 55 games, left after his sophomore year 2 years, 19 games, left after his sophomore year 2 years, 35 games, left after his sophomore year These aren't exactly shining examples of kids the staff held onto too long. Also doesn't seem to be a coincidence that all 4 left after their sophomore year....
  14. Here's an example of the type of thing that was cut back on and that they are now working on doing again to improve exposure down in the cities:
  15. It's almost as if the coaches have some sort of insight from watching the guys practice every single day beyond what the casual fan sees 6 hours a week.
  16. Fans: He's only playing because of his last name! Also fans: Why are all these kids/grandkids of former UND players going to other schools?!
  17. Exactly. Just as easily as they could have missed it a few years back when they finished in the exact same spot in the Pairwise (#14) and still needed a late Wisconsin rally to get in.
  18. The bar side has remained open (with the new menu), though I believe they will be closed for a couple days this week while they do some construction. Not sure on the time frame for the Red Pepper side to open.
  19. The lack of amenities and updates needed are part of the problem. If they would find a way to get some of that done, I think it could become a real draw for that type of thing. Kind of a chicken/egg thing: They have trouble getting some acts, so no money/reason to fund upgrades. Acts don't want to come because of the lack of amenities. I hope they decide to invest in it, it remains a great venue.
  20. You throw out a lot of numbers with nothing to back them up even though people have asked. Can you provide anything that proves the figures you're throwing around?
  21. Here is my understanding: UND had cut back significantly if not completely (in certain areas) on sending recruiters to meet with guidance counselors and students in their schools in Minnesota, specifically the MSP area. I think if you look at the number of Minnesota students over the year, you'll see a correlation with dropping enrollment from there. That strategy on that has changed in the last 18 months. Unless of course he got a job offer at one of the biggest Universities in the nation who offered to double or triple his pay (plus add in the no state income tax and much nicer weather).
  22. Supposedly the catch was the way they fired her. Originally said it was because of budget issues then said it was also performance based but they didn't want to hurt her feelings or reputation since the decision was already made so they didn't bring that up initially. Both were likely true. You are correct, Brad has written at least a couple times detailing her decline in performance and other issues. https://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=99140 http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/opinion/columns/3870287-local-view-miller-didnt-earn-new-contract-umd
  23. There is usually a watch party at Torrey Pines Pub (6374 W Lake Mead Blvd) but I'm not sure if they are doing it tomorrow or not. While I agree on which choice of sportsbooks, I'm not sure it would be the best option to watch tomorrow given that its open weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament and they are all typically bonkers.
