You didn't mention that NDSU choose to do the same and not schedule UND during their transition out of spite even after Tom Buning reached out in 2005 (during NDSU's transition) to try to get all sports outside of football back on the schedule. NDSU refused and continued to hold a grudge for over a decade.
-
You clearly feel slighted if you think UND "screwed up". If you don't care, then quit complaining about "rationalizing and justifying" feelings, though its hard to believe with how much you have to say about the subject. UND absolutely didn't "screw up", they did what was best for themselves, something NDSU, as an institution, has a long history of doing and there is absolutely zero doubt to a logical person that they wouldn't have dropped the series the second it was convenient for them. In fact Gene Taylor basically admitted this exact thing, saying he'd like to maintain the rivalry "at least through the transition". Just because it happened to be beneficial for UND to drop the series first means you get to be all salty about it for going on 15 years now. Nice revisionist history. There are plenty of articles on the subject where GT was the one giving the quotes to the Fargo media out of the blue. They pushed the narrative more than anyone. On top of that, GT kept moving the goal posts every time a deal got close. That is well documented as well (including off the record comments about NDSU never traveling to Grand Forks, despite him sending contracts where they would, which he would have never signed. Bubba finally called his bluff and accepted a deal favoring NDSU just to get the games on the schedule. Actually, what's even more hilarious is that Gene Taylor was apparently negotiating contracts in the media way back in 2003 when Roger Thomas clearly indicated he wasn't ready to sign them. https://inforum.com/content/bison-sioux-grid-rivalry-continue

Speculation or not, I can guarantee you they would have quit playing the second it made sense for them, exactly the same as NDSU would have done and exactly what UND did. I guess It's unfortunate UND didn't acquiesce and do what was better for NDSU and not themselves, but time to get over it. Kind of similar to how NDSU had no desire (or obligation) to help UND during their transition.

Well, the narrative has already started and the season isn't even half over.

Thought he was on his way back from injury? Did he have a major setback?

Not sure what you saw on Zim last year, likely a stronger arm than Keaton but KS was the better QB and I'm not sure its that close. As for the "coach speak" it is what it is, I've heard it wasn't ever really that close but no reason to declare a starter before you have to. Thought 77 did a good job out at UW, but he was definitely gassed in the 3rd and 4th (not blaming him, he played a lot of reps against some big guys). Didn't pay attention to what the rotation (or lack of one) but to say 92 hasn't earned the starting role and more reps is a bit much. They'll both be needed going forward, defense wasn't on the field a whole lot Saturday, guys were fresh. -
That doesn't answer the question but it would have presented the exact same issue. The logo was on the jersey and they have been wearing helmets with the interlocking ND decades before any iterations of the logo showed up, all of which had a specific direction they faced outside of Sammy Sioux.
-
Serious question, how often did you see the Brien logo reversed and facing right?
-
They must have stuck them on the bus with the football team, three to a seat.
-
They actually should but that's a completely separate topic. Interesting that people think a decade plus for the 3rd, 4th and 5th most popular programs on campus not having any sort of video or replay board is no big deal but don't bat an eye to replace 7 year old boards at a cost of 6-7x as much. No ones arguing MIH place in the hierarchy but the funds UND pays the REA is what pays/paid for the Betty. There hasn't been much for investment in it since it was built outside of the video board a dozen years later.
-
They at least tried, he had the ball in his hands, in the end zone on the third down play and couldn't bring it in.
-
Santiago didn't play much after he got tackled into a bench on the ISU sideline.
-
Don't disagree, which is why the Alerus Center needs to spread them out instead of putting them just on the edges. I do agree, a lot will probably throw them on the ground regardless.
-
New makes it sound like they were replacing old ones. More accurately, the Betty finally got video replay boards after not having them the first 12 years it was open.
-
The NCAA has no issues with UND using or displaying the logo in historical reference, seems like trying to make something out of nothing. They are recognizing all-time greats, not a ton of other picture of them to use.
-
Knew there was something on them, thanks for the clarification.

Two decent D1 non-conference home games. Guessing we'll see some sort of return from Utah Valley, Montana State and/or UT Rio.
-
"No point in putting extra funds into the MBB program, they saw no benefits from making the big dance. Just a random coincidence that they got a 3/4* recruit over multiple P5 schools the next signing period, winning the conference tournament absolutely didn't help at all" -Someone, probably

You can get a general idea on what the balance of the reserve fund is by looking at the tax returns.

I guess we'll have to disagree. They also leave them piled up towards the front and for the most part expect people to come get their own but don't convey that message. They also use to have the huge gray garbage carts, similar to what's near the entrances. put about 8 of those in the student section and my guess there would be some improvement. However, some own't care and continue to just throw their trash on the ground.
-
Of course they do. Why would they invest in the equipment for something that is needed 5-6x per year? Bigger issue seems like there weren't enough garbage cans again (despite saying they doubled the amount). They need to make more of an effort to put the large ones in the student area and everywhere for that matter instead of hoping people come get them from where they have them lined up. Wind didn't help matters either, but whatever. Something for people to complain about. Everyone near us seemed to go out of their way to clean up their area. Possibly on a few of the recruiting services. Either way, point stands that he was a huge get for the MBB team.

How much of a game changer the donation that Ralph made actually was? Yes, it does.
-
So if new (or at least non-condemnable) facilities aren't so integral in bringing in top end recruits, please explain the multiple locker room renovations that have occurred at the REA since it was opened 17 years ago. But somehow facilities have no bearing on anything.... Pull the once-in-a-multi-generational donor out of the equation and I would think that football alumni have given much more back to their program than UND hockey alumni have. Continuing to include Ralph's donation when comparing to other sports (or pretty much any other athletic department out there) isn't valid argument. It's the equivalence of hitting the lottery and then looking down people because they don't have the means you do....... ....and then taking 52% of their revenue on top of it..... UND and the hockey program got an incredible gift and everyone is thankful for it. However disagreeing about how the extra revenues it generates is fair game, particularly as the rest of campus sees massive budget cuts. No one is suggesting slashing the hockey program's budget but commentary on how the REA isn't out of line.
