President Kennedy Comments on HPC Phase II
jdub27 replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
I'm not sure what their options were on the outside but the interior design was done for functionality and they absolutely nailed that part of it. I'd rather have that then a fancy looking building that is a disaster inside, though that doesn't mean they couldn't have done more on the exterior. There were also some funding issues towards the end with appropriated money and I'm guessing some exterior designs were the first thing to go.- 205 replies

President Kennedy Comments on HPC Phase II

Outside is "meh" depending on which part you're looking at, however I have heard nothing but rave reviews from students about the building itself, so at least that is a positive.- 205 replies

My position didn't come from Chaves himself, rather other people associated with EWU who have been less than impressed with their president. His commentary on fundraising was that they were in a tough position being basically the 3rd or 4th school in people's pecking order (UW, WSU, Gonzaga and even Idaho to a point) and the challenges they faced. He didn't use it as an excuse though. They are still spinning after their leader in the clubhouse didn't even make the finalists.

President Kennedy Comments on HPC Phase II

Unless they can pull the wool over the legislature's eyes by including some academics in there, nothing had changed that it was going to be funded privately. I assume there are some sort commitments in place but clearly by the new literature floating around, a good chunk still needs to be raised.- 205 replies

Tough to fundraiser when you don't have the President supporting your projects and/or priorities. There was a definite disconnect between the athletic department and president's office at EWU on top of the other challenges they already faced. He will be in a completely different environment here and Chaves will be a great compliment to the Foundation and Champions Club, stepping in when appropriate and needed, and overall be a great face for the athletic department.

I know, it's crazy how much worse his numbers are than Thome's on conference play! Oh wait.....

It was a connection from a previous assistant. However Bliznyuk had been in the US since he was 7-8, growing up outside of Tacoma. -

Actually they wouldn't demolish it. The idea is they would somehow incorporate some of the structure.- 205 replies

Carson Wentz taking Philly err Indy err DC by storm

Yes, that is literally why it was called a miracle. Case is going to want too much money and I don't think he's worth it. Historical Case (the one that wasn't really even average his first 4 years in the league) started to show towards the end of the year and the playoffs. He's definitely serviceable but not worth $20+ million/year. If he's willing to sign for less than that, go for it, but there is probably someone out there willing to pay way more. Unless Bradford is some sort of magician, he's not getting paid a significant salary unless its a contract full of incentives and minimal guaranteed money. However I think he'll be fine considering his career earnings are $114 million, so maybe he's fine with that. If you can get Teddy to sign a team-friendly contract, which would be some decent up-front money guaranteed for 1-2 years and then some "prove-it" on the back-end that are team options for 2-3 years with a bit of a raise, I think that's the ticket. Will be interesting to see what direction they go, I just hope it isn't a huge contract with a large guarantee because I'm not sure any of the three are worth that quite yet.

Students Spearhead Effort for Fighting Hawks Mascot

Is that like when Schaffer and Kennedy were moving UND to the WAC? He didn't leave there because of some random conference issue that isn't going to happen and doesn't even make sense (which you still haven't shown a link where is being talked about), he left because the president there didn't have the same vision for athletics as he did and he saw UND as a better opportunity and it was as close to an ideal time to move his family if he was going to do it at all because of the ages of his kids.
-
All of them? No. But I sat in on his forum and had a chance to ask him a few questions. EWU's conference affiliation was nowhere on the radar when discussing why he was interested in leaving EWU. And I'm not sure why it would be, there is zero reason to think the Big Sky is going anywhere despite the theories that you have floated out there and have continued to fail to materialize.
-
Like @cberkas, I didn't see that discussion anywhere. You'd think CWU would have actually already announced a move up if they were going to be in the Big Sky by 2021 instead of just starting to put funds together to upgrade their facilities, which takes multiple years at minimum. The future of the Big Sky isn't ominous despite what you keep claiming, they aren't going to go in a tailspin after decades of stability partially because there is nowhere for anyone to go. And Chaves leaving EWU had absolutely nothing to do with the Big Sky's future, I can guarantee you that.

Get out early and tailgate. The game is just the second half of the fun.

His hit rate on transfers is much higher than it has been on JuCo's.....so I guess there is that.

You don't think saying that certain guys are D2 players or that they just aren't that good is running them down? Especially when they haven't even been in the program 2 years? I'm not saying our roster needs to be made up of kids that haven't been offered elsewhere. But I'm also not naive enough to think the program is currently in a position to win a ton of recruiting battles, so the staff is going to have to find some kids that others are overlooking. Bijiek was a huge surprise, but do you suppose that had something to do with a)UND being his first offer and b)recruiting Tray Buchanan, who had no other offers when he committed?
-
I won't even bother getting into the other ones because you think Illinois State is going to add hockey? They are broke as a joke and already subsidize their athletic department at almost $20 million/year and the state is slashing funding. But it's just a matter of time....
-
Verbal Commits doesn't list any other offers and they don't typically miss much. Regardless, not sure why you feel the need to continue to run down UND players because of what other schools did or didn't see. The UND staff is pretty plugged in within Iowa, they are getting plenty of opinions of on guys. Some will hit, some will miss, regardless of where they are from and who did or didn't offer. A quick check of your Twitter account reveals you should probably heed your own advice.
-
That was my guess. Only secondary offer on wiki from Nebraska. I like 6'3" corners.
-
They are going to need both of them if you've been paying any attention. And they play different games. Tray takes more chances and scores more, but also gets outside himself and turns it over more than twice as much.
-
My mistake, he's terrible based off of 33 shots in 16 games. I'm young to ignore the 2 point attempts because he doesn't have the game to get to the room yet. I guess I'll go off what I see, which is fundamental basketball and not playing outside himself, and trust the guys that brought him in on this one.
