  1. Not even close to the worst in town. There's a couple roads (Cherry St in particular) that I will voluntarily take Washington instead of.

    Sandy?

I don't have a narrative, I'm making observations on people cherry picking results and ignoring other things that don't tell the whole story. Sandy won a title the first year the Amsoil opened. Then he lost in the second round of the tournament and followed that up by missing the tournament years in a row. That was preceded by making the tournament two years out of ten. Yes, missing the tournament is a weakness. However they finished 14th in the pairwise which gets them in every year since 2008. Losing multiple players earlier than expected, leaving unexpected holes or accelerating players also caused issues. Look at the number of players that have left UND early compared to UMD and then couple that with those that left a year or two before they anyone thought they would.

    Sandy?

That seems to be why everyone is chasing Berry out of town so it seems relevant. I think they are both good coaches but I'm not going to ignore the weaknesses in Sandy's resume they would have had people caging for his head if he did the same thing at UND, just pointing out the hypocrisy in it.

    Sandy?

    And missed the tournament twice.
  5. None of those are close to being top 10 smallest in terms of enrollment.

    Sandy?

Pretty subjective observation especially if you're going to ignore half of his coaching career.

    Sandy?

Not mocking them, they've had a nice 3 years or 8 I guess, but that includes two missed tournaments. But people are losing their mind over one year here, it's fair to look at his whole resume. Not a chance he would have lasted at UND long enough to get where he is, yet people want Berry fired after 1 semi down year, where UND ended in a position that has made the tournament the last 10 years. Also fair to point out how thin the line between winning a title and missing the tournament is. Duluth was pretty damn lucky to make the tournament this year.
  8. Augie would fall into the top 10 smallest D1 schools (less than 1,700). A big endowment is nice, but I'm not even sure at $100 million, the investment income is going to cover the increase they would need. Their athletic is currently around $10 million, which is inflated due to tuition being $31K/year.

    Sandy?

1 ring for every 5 tournament misses.
  10. Ugh, this one is tough. He had potential to be an absolute monster off the edge.
  11. So not only do you drag up posts that are years (even decades) old, but you bring up dated, out of context quotes? NDSU doesn't have a choice, as long as UND and NDSU are in the same conference, they have zero say in playing in Grand Forks every other year.
  12. The marketing students are going to make a costume? So you save money on a conceptual design by giving away a few scholarships and then still have to pay someone to make someone else's design, how much do you actually end up ahead in that scenario? The $32,000 is coming out of an advertising or marketing budget. While it is unfortunate raises weren't given out on campus (or for anyone that works for the state), not everything on campus needs to stop because of that. That's the type of small time thinking that leads to stagnation. For the record, a 1% raise on campus would have cost $6 million for the biennium, the mascot has nothing to do with the pay raises.
  13. Tom Miller made it sound like Nelson has been practicing at safety. If Deion can come back to even close where he was, I'd be comfortable with that move assuming he can adjust.

    Sandy?

And it should be pointed out that even that took the most upsets in a decade in order to happen. Not to mention that Duluth has been the last team in 2 of the last 3 years.
  15. They might be still in place from when the ROTC was doing drills on campus a few years ago.

    Jerseys

Switching to adidas. Assuming the design will end up being different, no clue to what extent. So they put all the replica jerseys on sale or just picked a few random ones to put on the clearance rack, right next to the racks of regular price ones that are exactly the same? I guess I'm not following the logic on that. As for the rest of merchandise, yes, some of that will hit clearance rack, the same as what happened with the interlocking and Brien logos.

    Jerseys

There are not current jerseys on the clearance rack. It isn't true and it makes makes zero sense. On top of that, they have been out for about 6-8 months now and the team will have different jerseys after next season regardless. Not the only reasons, but it sure contributes. It isn't a shocker the volume isn't as large.
  19. Kuska too. Man those two would have been fun to watch together.
  20. Making the comparison based on "students served" isn't exactly a fair measure. Different majors require different funding, which the legislature took into account with the new formula. However I'd argue growing the "students served" while knowing the the proper infrastructure to support the growth isn't there and then complaining about it after the fact isn't the ideal strategy. Couple that with giving out huge chunks of tuition waivers and then turning around and complaining you don't have enough funding to support them also isn't ideal. Obviously some are necessary and/or mandated/required by various laws and programs but the disparity within the NDUS is telling.
  21. You forgot to mention cutting women's hockey and that he supports the new nickname/logo. But I think you have it covered for the most part. I've come to the conclusion that despite an actual history of success, S&D and baseball don't make the moral outrage cut.
  22. Here's the full story: It came out today that UND isn't offering merit increases for the second consecutive year. A 1% increase in salaries across the board would require around $6 million per biennium and that money would have had to come from somewhere, meaning some other cuts would have had to been made on campus. Kennedy's comments came on radio a few days back when he made the comment "any ill will at the school more to legislative funding decisions than his recent bid to serve as the next president of UCF, connecting issues of low morale to the lack of pay raises to faculty and staff, a legacy of state funding reductions" which probably does have some truth to it. Kennedy did respond to the letter: In summation: Kennedy knew there was going to be blow back on not having pay raises for the second year in a row. Yes, it is partially the legislature's fault, but their hands were tied also. The alternative is that more jobs or programs get cut so those left can have pay raises. I've seen many instances in the private sector where keeping salaries flat was the alternative chosen over either cutting salaries or cutting positions. It's frustrating but the pool of money isn't bottomless. Hopefully they address this and make up for it next biennium, as it truly does weigh on morale.
  23. This is a bad take. The coach's job is to get results and that is what they will be judged on (obviously assuming they follow ethical standards). Employments decisions are not and should not be directly tied to the whims of young adults. If there is enough issue with recruits/players, the results will tell the story and that's what the decision should be made off of.
  24. I might actually have to go check that out.
