  1. I've been mulling this around too. Now don't get me wrong - I want the Sioux to win. I want them to get the trophy. I want to keep pushing ahead, and maybe squeeze into the last 1 seed. But if they lose thursday night, send everyone home healthy, and get some rest for the regional - I am way cool with that too. My young son asked it best: "So the Final Five is a way for the crappy teams to get into the NCAAs, but the good teams are already in?" Out of the mouths of babes........
  2. I agree on the keep the mouth shut thing... doesn't bode well from a PR standpoint when you injured the guy. (whether there was intent or not) Aside - I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Frattin's hit likely won the game for us. Up until that point, the good guys looked like they were dragging arse. After the hit, the crowd was into it big-time, and the Sioux showed some go. Throw in the injury to one of their guys (not gloating - just stating facts for you sympathetic types) and the fear of getting nailed to the glass; the gophers pretty much looked they all got punched in the stomach. We owned the ice after that hit. My Point: Frattin made the hit to fire up his team, and demoralize the opponent; not to injure anybody. Anyway, it worked. And yeah - he went full steam ahead, on the gas through impact, deserving a charging major, IMO. My jury's still out on the suspension. Don't think it was warranted - not surprised it was given. The injury aside - I'm a big fan of punishing hits and hard nose hockey. I'm a Sioux fan.
  3. I saw your post earlier, and looked up the old house bill. I also posted on here a question whether the bill became law... as of yet, I don't have a solid answer. Based on NDCC 51-07 (as pointed out by 82SiouxGuy) it seems this bill perhaps wasn't made into law. Just like the house bill to make the Sioux and Bison football teams play each other - as good as the paper it's printed on; nothing more. With all due respect, don't tell me I'm breaking the law without identifying the law that I'm breaking... I guess that is "what I'm not getting".
  4. So since I'm not going on Saturday... If some guy that knows my seats says "Hey, you've got great seats and I know you're out of town. I'll give you a hundred bucks a seat to have your tickets for the Saturday game" that makes me a bad guy if I take it? Do I tell him, thanks for the offer but I'm morally obligated to sell for face value even though you're perfectly able and willing to shell out a lot more? I'm not greedy, but I'm not stupid either. If someone makes a killer offer to me, and I'm not going to the game anyway - I'll take it. If they want to pay a premium price for what they percieve as a reasonable value for the entertainment they will enjoy, I'll play ball. And as far as the face value thing goes, my face value tickets came along with an extra $1100 donation price tag. If you want to make sure to get your first round tickets for next year for "face value", join the Fighting Sioux Club. They could use your support. For the record, my tickets are already given away to my parents and their friends for the Saturday game. They are not for sale.
  5. I saw the bill was introduced; did it ever make law?
  6. I say have Gino and Woog lace 'em up and put on the stripes. Kind of like wrestling - "guest referees."
  7. My favorite word in the hockey language.
  8. Although I may not be sitting in the middle of it - I'm firmly aboard the bandwagon. If we could just get 100% healthy, I really belive we could make a run. It's not like we're getting our butts kicked night in and night out. (except for one game in particular that I'm still having a hard time accepting...)
  9. I love this - it's going in the signature line!
  10. I think they should have at least waited with the uniforms until the budget allowed them to have matching helmets. Have to agree with the first poster on the topic - that jersey color is terrible, and to have a helmet in yet a different color looks just stupid.
  11. How did I know this thread would head south. On topic - I call it a draw. Greene with some nice blows; Commie with the big smack and take-down.
  12. He's not dropping the puck... (for those of you that ignore BudLight)
  13. Good point RW77... and certainly a possibility as we've seen it so many times before. I, on the other hand, am content in my opinion that Lucia is a candy@ss caker-eater with no b@lls.
  14. Agreed on all counts... absolutely kicked their butts for 2.5 periods. I'm wishing we could have scored the 4-5 goals that were on a silver platter in the first, but I'm still very happy. Tomorrow is a new game... let's go Sioux!
  15. Don Lucia is going to love hearing that. If anyone has a link of this little clip, I'd love to hear it. Unbelieveable.
  16. We own the ice this weekend, and play hard nose old time hockey. Sioux sweep, gophers suck.
  17. Have the reffing assignments been made? (as if I don't already know)
  18. Hello everyone; I wanted to share that some autographed Sioux stuff will be auctioned tonight. The benefit is for "Sox for Kids." This is the 20th year of the event. The auction was supposed to be last Saturday night, but was postponed to tonight because of the storm. (I know, Thursdays aren't great, but it was the only night available) Auction Items: Team autographed Sioux jersey Team autographed Sioux football Along with these, there are a bunch of other things too: baked goods, framed art, a tv, a guitar, farm toys, all kinds of stuff. The auction starts at 5:00 at the Thompson Community Center. (tonight!) It will go until whenever... must be 21 to attend. Food and drink will be available. Sox for kids started in 1989, in Northwood. Basically, SfK identifies underpriviledged children in our area, with the help of local school districts. Those kids are given a chaperoned "shopping trip" to buy Christmas presents. (the GF K-Mart closes their store every year for this event... they are wonderful to work with) What usually happens, is the kids buy gifts for their families instead of themselves! Our goal is to get $100 for each child... we usually have about 500 children. The Thompson Mens Club and Sox for Kids appreciates your support, and hopes to see you tonight in Thompson! Thanks!!!!!
  19. Can anyone tell me who the guy in the blue shirt (no tie) and sport jacket was on the channel 11 half-time broadcast? Looked like a mid-twenty year-old. For whatever reason, he just bugged the !@$! out of me.

    UND vs. SCSU

The defense is not getting any pressure on the QB. He had all day, and definitely could have eaten us up with #8. Along with the defensive gripes, we can hit but it seems like we can't tackle. Frustrating. Popcorn is kind of expensive. Eat at tailgating, and eat at tailgating again after the game.
  21. While I'm sure we can come up with a list of 30 or more players who were great, how many of them turned down offers at the peak of their stock to return to UND? Very few I would guess. Duncan maybe isn't the greatest (or second greatest) player to wear the sweater, I won't argue that. But his work ethic, personality, and loyalty will earn a place for him among or above all of the greatest Sioux players. I think we're much better off having him back than not!
  22. Someone at work mentioned ticket renewals are due tomorrow... I was thinking it was the end of May. Can someone please confirm the date? Thanks!
  23. Givign BC the credit that they are due, I don't think it would have mattered who our opponent was. Thursday's Sioux team was not, IMO, going to win that day. Versus BC, Miami, or any handful of the contending tournament teams... I think we would have gotten beat.
  24. I think the second game is scheduled for 30 minutes after the completion of the first game... so I would think no.
