  1. The NCHC signed a two-year agreement with the American Sports Network for air 18 games over the next two games. It won't affect the CBS deal or anything with Midco. Some games on ASN are carried by Altitude Sports in the Colorado region. Altitude is also carried by DirecTV and Dish. Some of the games are also carried in Kalamazoo and Oxford. It's an opportunity for lesser NCHC schools to be on regional networks (which can be carried nationally). I wouldn't be surprised to see UND on a couple of these games. Midco could potentially pick up the broadcasts as well from ASN for communities in NoDak/MN/SD.
  2. They only banned opposing team jerseys in the suites and club level. The rest of the arena was open to any fan that could buy a ticket.
  3. Or the NCAA could approach it from the grounds that UND didn't do everything it could to replace the Fighting Sioux name by staying North Dakota.
  4. theyre also oozing in money from 90% season ticket rate and an on campus arena where they get all the profits.
  5. How is it bad for the league if UNO sells out their stadium to UNO fans? That's the only reason the tickets are so hard to get.
  6. Jim, I appreciate all the updates!
  7. So now "very likely" equals "may" sanction UND? Great job at completely missing the point Peter was trying to make in the email.
  8. No doubt NDSU could have just rasied prices $5 but they still would have been stupid if they didn't charge significantly more for the UND game. Perhaps $40 or $45 for a regular ticket plus the additional $5 for UNI and $25 for UND, still nets them a lot more money. Especially, when the school says they can't afford COA at this point, $50,000 looks a lot better than $0. As for dynamic pricing, you first point makes sense but the second doesn't have to be necessary. I think this year show's that is the case. It's dynamic pricing, albeit not at the maximum amount NDSU could charge. How does the increase in price in season tickets relate to this discussion as well? Was it a natural yearly price increase or do you see the UND game having any effect? Additionally, I heard there is now a mandatory teammakers fee included on certain tickets. True?
  9. Just let him think there was. When this "scheduling philosophy" falls apart, just lie.
  10. Costa Vida and their incredible sweet pork is the best of them all. Illegal Pete's is a very close 2nd.
  11. Anyone else find it a little funny that there is a group of people who are saying the NCAA won't overstep their bounds or care about little ol UND? Yet these same people were calling out the NCAA in 2005 for overstepping its bounds and punishing UND.
  12. Let me answer this one before Gothmog has a chance to post... I believe the response would be: "Really, that's all they have to do? I'm thinking that they'll have to score more points than the other team. In any case, you're talking about getting turnovers against a team that is as good at getting turnovers as anyone. If that's the best shot you've got to beat NDSU, you don't have much of a shot."
  13. Which means you refer to the original agreement for that. And the original agreement says UND must transition to a NEW nickname.
  14. No we can't and there's $200,000 in UND's bank account this year because of it.
  15. Miller reporting de Rouen and Tyler not on the team.
  16. I attend mostly road games and a majority of the cheers I hear are Fighting Sioux related. I think one of the reasons the hockey team has adopted the Sioux name more than other teams is in part due to the fans. When at a DU/UND game in Denver, it's half UND fans and cheer loudly for the Sioux. When at a UNC/UND football or basketball game it's a sporadic crowd so you don't get those massive cheers going. No sport has seen the type of fan presence on the road that hockey has over the past decade.
  17. But those in favor of a nickname won't be doing a 180 if Fighting Sioux becomes usable again. We believe und should have a nickname. Obviously, we have preferences but we still want a name. Many of the no nicknamers continue to speak of the uniqueness of not having a name and how that is a noble cause. However, they would drop that stance in a heartbeat if FS was on the table.
  18. If only NDSU had any sort of big donation that we could compare. On an unrelated note, hows that BSA renovation going now that we are 10 years after fundraising started?
  19. Ah yes, the heat was just too much for all the diehards. I know if it's more than 81 degrees, I wouldn't go outside to rally for something allegedly really important to me.
  20. A week ago, people were wondering why we had no verbals.
  21. Thanks for the thought out post. Good discussion is rare here. I actually wish there was a legit voting between no nickname and picking any name. Every one is throwing out numbers that have no basis in fact. I get that the no nickname fans are a potentially fickle crowd in that some would stop supporting a whole university over the choosing of a new nickname. How many of them will stay away if und wins a couple national championships? The moratorium on picking a name has really just created a bigger divide among fans than before.
  22. You assume all exposure for not having a nickname will be positive. Here in Colorado, plenty of people have asked why a bunch of hicks from North Dakota don't have a name.
  23. Ermine is unique too, doesn't make it good.
