Dave Hakstol Leaving to Coach NHL Philadelphia Flyers
southpaw replied to Ray77's topic in Men's Hockey
He needs assistants who have coached in the NHL Recently. I imagine he will have a pretty good selection of guys to choose from. I would like to see Hastings, Sandy, Gwoz or Berry named as his replacement. I just don't see Jackson as a head coach. -
I was referencing Mr. Dave Starman himself, iluvdebbies

Considering the max capacity at the Ralph is 11,643... he was being facetious. The ralph has never had 13,000 people in it for a hockey game, thus he's never visited.

The Betty Needs a Video Board (or two)
southpaw replied to niouxsiouxfan's topic in Men's Basketball
This Video Board at the Air Force Academy cost $750,000 when it was installed. It doesn't take an HD feed, although it looks decent enough for what it is used for. Meanwhile, this center hung one was about $250,000 in the early 2000's but is pretty crappy. The scorer's table video boards cost $200,000 but struggle with live video. Generally, it's used for advertising purposes. -

You need a whole lot more than just the video board to run the thing, especially a crappy one like that. Add in the cost of a v7000 to control the board as well as the wiring costs and additional equipment and you're spending a whole lot more than $36,000 to have a very low quality board. Do it right, buy two large video boards, get a quality Dak controller, make sure you're making use of the HD video stream that you're sending for bigsky tv and do it right. -
So like others have said... sign an agreement that he can't play in that one game. Don't force a kid to sit out an entire year because you're afraid he will torch you.
-
It's Faison's fault there is no local media broadcasting the game. He needs to force them to do it or else!

Anyone think the Wild would have had a better chance to win last night if Adrian Peterson had played? I mean, he rushed for 2,000 yards three years ago, so he has to be pretty great, right?
-
The deal between the Big Sky and Root also means no UND conference games on FCS.

Adrian Peterson wants trade to Cowboys
southpaw replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Is anyone saying AP is washed up? Just that he is regressing like ALL running backs do when they hit 27. He ran for 2,000 yards and then followed it up with an average year (just like the stats have shown). Linebacker is different than running back. There are older guys who can still play into their late 30s. AP could be one of them, but what has he done to show that his regression isn't similar to what other running backs go through? -

Because of stats like this: http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/123542/inside-slant-running-back-cliff-after-age-27 How old was AP when he rushed for more than 2,000 yards? How many did he have the following year? Why did his YPC go down a yard and a half from one season to the next? It says when a player turns 28, their stats tend to return to when they were 25. AP at 27 - 2,097 yds, 6 ypc in 16 games AP at 28 - 1,266 yds, 4.5 ypc in 14 games AP at 25 - 1,298 yds, 4.6 ypc in 15 games Looks like he is following the traditional trend of regression after 27. -
Is it difficult to sign out and back in to reply to yourself?

I completely agree. The only reason UND/NDSU football was big in the past was because they were both in the NCC. Football and basketball are pretty similar in that neither school could ever hope for getting a bid to the postseason without winning their conference title. There also are a similar number of games in both sports, so a non-conference loss in football doesn't mean anything to either school.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2015-16 season
southpaw replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I'm guessing he is referring to just this summer. Either he signs with Boston prior to the deadline or else he stays at UND. Next year, as he would be a UFA, he could choose where he wants to go. -
There are a lot of requirements which is why you see a lot of basketball players go to the prep school for a year. It's essentially a red-shirt year for them and helps them adjust to college life while gaining entry to the Academy. You don't see a lot of true freshman on the AF basketball team because of this.
-
What if he heads to Omaha and takes over after Dean leaves?
-
Drew Long, the lowest assistant on the totem pole at AF just left. He missed much of the 2013-14 season battling cancer. If I was going to pick a coach to play for, it would be Coach Pilipovich at AF. Great guy and gets the most out of his players. AF players also have the choice to leave prior to becoming a junior, as they've run into that issue a few times the past couple years, including losing a quality freshman after the end of this season.
-
I expect Murphy to continue to play like he did when he got back into the lineup at the end of the season. I'm predicting 11 goals for him next year.
-
BU's new coach took a 21-16-2 team and turned them into a 10-21-4 team his first year. He then lost in the national championship game his second year. He's had one horrific year and one year that has been good, but based on the requirements here, not great.

Head to the Sioux bar and see if anyone needs one. Someone would take it at face value or buy you a handful of beers.
-
I'll be at the Denver one with my girlfriend and a couple other friends if we win on Thursday.
-
Then how did his teams win 17 NCAA tournament games in 11 years?
-
In basketball you can win with 2-3 really good players and an ok surrounding cast. That's not the case in hockey. Toews, Oshie and Duncan aren't out there every shift, they're not playing goalie, they're not on the back end trying to stop the other team's high end forwards on every play. Disappointing Hak hasn't won a title? Absolutely, but having three great players in one year doesn't mean you're guaranteed to win. Did last year's UND team have all the talent? Did they underachieve or would you say Hak got the best out of a team that didn't have great talent? The 07-08 team had Oshie and Duncan, but then only three seniors... they made the Frozen Four. Is that getting the best out of a team? I'd say so.

Unfortunately, there continues to be a disconnect between the NCHC and the Target Center for a lot of the issues. TC staff are used to basketball games with a different clientele for their games. Many of the policies implemented are for basketball purposes and changes haven't been made in that aspect. The $97 million renovation that begins this summer will have a big impact on the atmosphere of the arena. Yes, it's still going to be a basketball arena with hockey but it will be customized a bit more for the tournament in the next three years of the contract. I encourage everyone who had a bad experience (and a good one) to email the NCHC about the issues. The Target Center isn't going to change things unless the direction comes from the conference.
