  1. You have a point, although he did not produce many points, Canady was never afraid to hit someone.
  2. Yep, it has definitely been awhile since we saw a #22 Sioux jersey play the body. Malone was very impressive.
  3. Question: How many people on this board were critical of Lee's play prior to him coming to UND? Very few. How many were critical after seeing him play two years here? Quite a few. Why is that?
  4. Does every 9th overall pick get offered "max money"? No, I doubt it. My understanding is that Lee signed for the max allowed under collective bargaining/ the Sens could have offered him less money? Perhaps an amount more in line with his peformance?
  5. The Lee apologists all make it sound like the bashers were picking on Lee for no good reason, there is always a reason. That being said, Lee was very smart to take the money and run as who knows what the Sens were thinking offering that kind of money. The apologists always like comparing Lee's first two years to Roche's first two years. Personally, I think that Roche was a much more impressive offensive player than Lee and every bit the defensive player. Look at how long it has taken Roche to break into the NHL, and that is on a horrible team. I don't think that Finley will be the new whipping boy because Finley has actually shown noticable improvement year over year.
  6. AZSIOUX has a better chance of being a regular on the Sens blue line than Lee does.
  7. Blood has more of a chance than Lee of being a regular on the Sens blue line.
  8. You do have a good point. I don't think anyone is trying to argue that income re-distribution is the key (at least I am not). That does not work as a successful economy needs to provide an incentive to work. What I am saying, is that much of the corruption in corporate America has created a mutated form of capitalism. For example, I think that Bill Gates has earned every penny that he gets from Microsoft. He created a highly successful company, that for the most part puts out a good product, and has consistently made a profit over the years. That is capitalism and he is reaping the rewards. On the flip side, you have many executives that take over a healthy company, run it into the ground (or even bankruptcy) in only a couple of years, and are still rewarded with multi-million $ golden parachutes.
  9. I agree with your point. Obviously, there must be a premium paid for jobs requiring more skill or risk. However, I think that capitalism doesn't work quite the way it is supposed to when financial power is concentrated in the hands of an elite few. You have CEO's at bankrupt companies (like NWA) getting rewarded with millions of dollars in bonuses/discretionary rewards while the pilots have to make wage concessions. Pilots that have gone to school and worked hard to obtain specialized training. It's no secret that all of these executives rub each others back by serving on the other guy's board of directors. Since a small number of large investors typically own a cotrolling share of the stock, the little guy has very little chance of getting things to change, regardless how hard he works. A bonus for losing money and driving your company into bankruptcy? Please, that is not what capitalism had in mind.
  10. I stand corrected. But I think my point still stands. If they keep letting teams in pretty soon it will be like the Big Ten in football where some of the biggest rivals don't even play each other in a year. Now if they want to let Bemidji in and kick Anchorage or Mankato out, I would not complain.
  11. Why should we let them in? So the Sioux only get to play the Gophers once every three years at home rather than every two years like it is now? The league is already borderline too big as I think Anchorage should be kicked to the curb.
  12. Can you imagine listening to that for the rest of your life? Fingernails on a chalkboard.
  13. But then the Blackhawks would lose to Boston in every big game too.
  14. If you've played high school boy's basketball then you've basically played at a level equivalent to DII women's basketball. If you've played boys basketball in a major metro area, then you have played at a higher level than DII women's basketball.
  15. Good point. I think that Lee is a solid college player right now with the ability to be much better player over the next two years of college. I realize that he plays a "positional" game, but he just doesn't seem strong enough to make the jump right now. Perhaps two more years of college could give him those extra 10 pounds of muscle. It just seems that there are two different types of D-men, the physical type that aren't expected to score, and the more finesse type D-men that are expected to score. Lee doesn't seem to fall into either category right now. That being said, I am not the person in the Ottawa front office that will be cutting a check. If he can get a big payday, more power to him, and good luck.
  16. Good point. I take comfort in the fact that Boyle was on the ice for all 3 goals scored against BC in the title game. Heck, the first two goals were scored with Boyle directly in the play. Gotta love it. The Sioux lost because guys that aren't supposed to take untimely penalties (i.e. captains) were in the box for 3 of BC's goals. Porter for number one, Fabian for number two, and although he wasn't technically still in the box, Porter could not make it back into position (from the box) for another BC goal. That being said, it was just one of those games were things didn't click the way they had been.

Wow, 12 hours? Did your wheels touch the ground

Question. The quickest way to drive from Grand Forks to St Louis is to take I-29 all the way to Kansas City and then cut over to St Louis, right? How many hours does this take assuming a restroom break once every 3 to 4 hours? I am guessing about 15 hours, but have any of you ever driven it before? The only reason I ask is that Yahoo Maps tries showing a route that goes down I-29 but cuts across Iowa, and then South into St Louis, which seems like a longer route. And no, dropping a couple of thousand dollars on the charter is not in the budget, but it would be nice if it was.
  19. Like many, I am scrambling for tickets. I need 3 lower bowl seats for all three games. They must be together. I am willing to pay face plus a small finder's fee if necessary. Private message me if you can help. Thank you. (PS. If I can get tickets and the Sioux can pull off #8, I will officially change my screen name to "Don'tBringDeanBack")
  20. Now Wheeler and Carman have all offseason to tug on something other than their jersey
  21. Note to Wheeler and Carman, where is the jersey pop now? Spend more time playing the game and less time cocking off and you might win next time. Seems to me the jersey pop didn't work so well for Irmen last year either as the Goofs lost to Holy Cross. To the rest of the Gopher team, great effort, nothing to be ashamed of, the game could have gone either way.
  22. You'll have to excuse the Gophers. They don't even practice 5x3 penalty kills during the year because no ref ever has the balls to call two straight penalties on the Gophers. It is amazing how many chinks appear in the maroon and gold armor when they don't get to play in their own backyard every big game.
  23. With every passing minute, you can almost here Lucia's rear puckering up tighter, and tighter, and tighter......................
  24. UND has no requirement for players with the last name of Lee to be great, or even good.
