  1. Didn't say I liked him at Defense, just that I didn't mind him there. I would rather have him on defense than on a forward line. His defensive play wasn't anymore sieve like than Genoway or Marto. I thought Blood did pretty good, as did Jones. I also think Finehage should be in the lineup.
  2. And likewise, myself and Irish have an ignore button for people that are a little to pollyanna about this team if we so chose. A fan doesn't always have to kiss the team's butt as they are free to weigh the good with the bad. The problem with Hak, is that yes he always "turns it around" by January. Unfortunately, he turns it around again come Frozen Four time when it matters. Blais didn't always win, but I don't recall Blais lead teams having so many nights where they flat out don't show up. When a team doesn't show up, you can blame the coach or the players. In this case, the players are all Hak recruits now, so either way it falls on his shoulders. That being said, we all know that Blais isn't coming back, so please Hak, WIN SOME HOME GAMES!!!!!!!!!
  3. Notes from game: 1) I think most would agree that Eidsness is a better goalie than Walski. However, anyone blaming Walski for those goals are nuts. The first goal happened after a Marto turnover in the zone, and Walski was screened. Second goal was also a screen. Third goal was caused 99.99% by pathetic effort from Defensmen. 2) I don't mind Miller as a defensman. 3) I would rather win a bunch of home games in the regular season and then choke in the Frozen Four rather than lose a bunch of home games in the regular season and choke in the Frozen Four (as Hak's m.o. has been) 4) When someone takes a run at your best young player, as Hunt did against Gregoire at the end of the game, someone has to step up and send a message. That type of hit on Gregoire and only luck prevented Gregoire from getting hurt from the blow to the head. Without Prpich, Radke, or Kaip, I don't know who that guy is, but they better find him or else the Denver's of the world will just keep taking runs at UND's stars. 5) Note to Dean Blais: I-29 N about 70 miles. Please please please come back.
  4. In that case I agree with you. The fact that he is a Gopher fan has nothing to do with it, at least in my book, but I can see where you are coming from. It's just all so stupid and no reason for it to happen.
  5. So people that are against illegal drug use/possession are D-bags? Maybe instead of teaching children that those that criticize drug use are idiots, maybe you should teach children that THOSE USING THE DRUGS ARE IDIOTS! People that think like you are the real problem these days. Oh it was just a little cocaine, oh he just needs some help, oh people should come down on him, oh give him a 2nd, 3rd, 4th chance, oh even though he has spent countless hours bashing individual players (some deserved) he doesn's deserve to be kicked when he is down....excuses excuses excuses, oh we shouldn't use red ink in classrooms when correcting papers because it hurts feelings, oh we shouldn't keep score in games because it will hurt the feelings of the kids that lose blah blah blah Puff Puff deserves the opportunity to get help. He doesn't deserve sympathy. Personally, it seems that ranting against illegal drug possession/use is a social productive activity since any "idiot" knows how drug use can rip apart families/communities.
  6. And you have a credibility issue after your post where you basically guaranteed that no charges would be filed.
  7. Admittedly, I'm not the lawyer here, but doesn't it make a difference if it is self-reported versus it coming to light like this did. For example, I walk into my boss, and admit that I'm addicted to cocaine and I need treatment. They need to work with me at that point. However, if I get caught by law enforcement breaking the law (felony), without ever having previously admitted the problem, isn't that different regarding my company's obligation to me?
  8. Actually, they could plug Paul Charchian into the Dubay slot and wouldn't miss a beat. Unfortunately, the college hockey talk would go out the door, but every other aspect of the show would be improved. I can't think of any other current KFAN personality that would be a better fit.
  9. http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/t...L7PQLanchO7DiUI Well, it looks like Buckysieve was right. It appears that Dubay will only be charged with possession of cocaine. I for one am relieved. For a moment there, I was worried that he had been caught with a hardcore drug. Puffy's career at KFAN is done after this, "You can put it on the boooooaaaaarrrrdddddd....."
  10. I agree that this is the perception out there. I would say however, that Obama isn't poor. The current 2 party system does not allow for an ordinary "middle class" person to run, only the financial elite. Another example, all of these Hollywood actors that are endorsing Obama aren't living in the poorhouse either.
  11. Not necessarily on meth, but it sure looks like he got caught with it/the makings for it. You don't get booked into jail if you're pulled over coming home from Wal-Mart with just a package of Sudafed. Also, he has not been on the PA Dubay show for several days now. PA also made a reference to Dubay today saying (paraphrased) that due to the current situation, they can't make any comments right now. Which gets us back to the old, if you're innocent, what have you got to hide? If it was a bogus charge, come out ASAP to clear your name anyway possible, especially when you have a high profile job like he has. Not saying that he is a meth head, but it sure doesn't look good right now. I actually hope he makes it back to radio as he is a good ambassador for college hockey.
  12. I agree. Dubay needs to grow up and stay away from illegal drugs. It does look suspicious that he lost all that weight and now this. At least law enforcement caught him before he hurt any innocent people like Hagemo did during one of his multiple "2nd chances".
  13. One difference, at least initially, Nate Hagemo's reckless behavior seriously hurt innocent people, which makes him a dirtbag. As of now, there is no evidence that Dubay's behavior hurt anyone but himself. Although by the sounds of it, Dubay didn't exactly have an amount of stuff typically held by someone just for personal use.
  14. On the bright side, if this new seeding method passed, the Sioux wouldn't get throttled by BC in the Semifinal game anymore.
  15. I think I figured out why visits to the doctor take so long. While I'm in waiting room 3B, my doc is in the other room furiously posting messages on siouxsports.com!
  16. I think there is a distinction that needs to be made regarding this argument. I don't think anyone should have a problem with someone like Oxbow that takes the initiative and makes it through medical school. Even if Oxbow came from a wealthy family that paid his entire way (which it doesn't sound like happened), Oxbow had to work to get through school, no easy task I am sure. In my mind, someone like Oxbow deserves every penny he has. In America, doctors are in high demand/well paid and Oxbow made the personal choice to pursue that path. To be fair, not everyone is born with the ability to make it through med school. I think a slightly different scenario is one where a family starts a business from scratch that grows into a money making machine. Then two generations down the line, junior takes over grandpa's business. Junior never had to worry about making career decisions or going to college because he knew granpappy and daddy would hand the business over to him. Another example, the way corporations stack their boards with the same people (some sitting on many different boards). It is a good old boys club, and John Q. Shareholder is powerless to enact any real change because the majority of the company's stock is owned by the very clowns sitting on these boards (or other high positions within company). In these scenarios, hard work means nothing as it is stictly a "who you know" type of situation. As frustrating as the latter examples can be (and seemingly unfair), I don't know how one would go about changing things. Unfortunately, in the game of life, some people are stuck with the poopy end of the stick.
  17. It seems that people should have to sleep in the bed that they made sometimes. Guess what? An adjustable rate mortgage is just that......adjustable. An interest only loan is just that........interest only (when do you plan on paying the principal?). Continually sucking the equity out of your home so you can keep buying new Escalades and Yukon Denali's just to keep up with the Jones'? Guess what?.....That might not be the best course of action either. Now it's time to pay the piper. As in all situations, there are some innocent people that got caught up in this, however, most of the people put themselves in the situation and SHOULD have known better. Also, both political parties are equally to blame in my opinion. Yes everything has come crumbling down on Bush's watch, which makes him look really bad. However, the massive deregulation of the financial industry (Gramm Leach Bliley Act aka Financial Services Modernization Act) was passed in 1999 when ole Bill Clinton was in office. Yes it was republican introduced legislation, but Clinton could have vetoed it (and there were enough Dems in congress to prevent veto override if neccesary). Also, with this whole bailout mess, many from both parties supported it just in time for us to see execs from AIG collecting lavish bonuses (and trips to spas) just weeks later. I hope there comes a time when I have the opportunity to vote for someone that is truly close to the middle and used common sense to make decisions. I'm not holding my breath though.
  18. I hope UND doesn't try to fall back on the "we are young" argument. Relatively speaking, UND is not that young. On Def. you got seniors Finley, Jones, junior Genoway, and two sophmores that played quite a bit as Freshman. Forwards you got Seniors Watkins, Duncan, Kozek, Miller, and Martens. True there are plenty of Freshman, but the way college hockey is, premier teams could use the "young" argument every year.
  19. It was only the first game, but this is supposed to be a veteran team. The problem as I see it, is that pretty much none of the veterans (i.e. Kozek and Duncan) have proven that they can score when not on a line with Oshie or Toews. Evan Trupp might be the one exception. I think Gregoire will eventually develop into a consistent scorer and who knows about David Toews, but they aren't there yet. This game sure reinforced the position of those that predicted scoring would be thin this year. With the exception of goal #5, Eidsness didn't look that bad. Blood made a very nice play towards the end jumping up into the play. Marto had a game I'm sure he would like to forget. At least they laid this turd on the road. Hopefully, they are playing better when they open up at home against Wisconsin.
  20. I heard about the Lee bobblehead coming out too. Just like the real thing, I heard it doesn't work in corners or in other high traffic areas where it might get bumped.
  21. I feel bad for the students that went through the program, because undoubtedly, many of them have gone on to successful careers. That being said, the program was an embarassment. A more accurate name for the department would have been the "drama" department because of all the controversy/turmoil that seemed to exist.
  22. Texas AM Kingsville.....Dead, St Cloud State......Dead, Wisconsin La Crosse....Dead.......(Yawn) Is it hockey time yet?
  23. Does UND play to win National Titles or to just gain Frozen Four appearances? Count me in the group that would rather win it all once every 4 or 5 years versus pulling the Buffalo Bills and being close every year. And let's face it, the Sioux have been pretty much outclassed in the Frozen Four each of the last two years. Guess what, BC is going to bring another small speedy team to the Frozen Four this year. I wonder what Hak's plan will be this year as it is getting old curling up into the fetal position against them every year. Should be an interesting season with all the new guys that will be counted on for scoring.
  24. In all fairness, when was the last time a ND player deserved a little ripping? Panzer brothers? No, they were stellar. Marto? No, although he was not a standout, I believe he did at least as good as was expected of him last year. Fylling? I think he caught some grief for not putting up the point totals some expected of him. Massen? He also caught flack for never producing like he did in juniors. Get off your obsession about how Sioux fans baby the local boys. It is not true as my few examples point out. The real question is what is your main gripe WITH the ND boys?
