  1. Highly unlikely that these two come to UND and I hope that UND fans realize why. Getting a chance to play at Minnesota or Wisconsin in women's hockey is the equivalent of getting a chance to play for UCONN or Tenessee in women's basketball. In other words, how many players would pick UND over UCONN or Tennessee in Womens bball? Zero. Same could be said for women's hockey (things may change 5 to 10 years down the road though).
  2. Minot should be fine as long as they don't have too many hockey players on the team....cough cough.
  3. Now we just need someone to say that Fargo South won't win the next 10 titles in a row, light the fuse, and get back.
  4. I wonder if Phil is happy? Thank god when I played sports (at a very low high school level, very very low) my parents didn't try to dictate to me what to do or when to be happy. These big time college recruits must have enough pressure on them already without having parents add fuel to the fire.
  5. Hmmm, tough one, but I can say that my favorite town in nearby Minnesota is Shelly.
  6. Hopefully James Patrick. If he is closer to Hammer we will be seeing his name on milk cartons this year.
  7. You bring up a good point if that is in fact what happened. My only question is that the article makes it sound like JB went after a woman that was not one of the people using racial slurs. I also question if a 25 year old woman would start a fight with two girls while out to eat with her father. I suppoe anything is possible, but it doesn't seem likely.
  8. So using your logic, if I walk into a restaurant where the majority of the people happen to be black, and one table starts calling me a racial slur, I am justified to walk up to a completely separate woman, that has not called me anything, and strike her? This is not an issue of color, it is an issue of violence against women. When people like yourself continue to make excuses or rationalizations for it, it keeps building into worse and worse crimes.
  9. I do know that I wouldn't physically go after a woman.
  10. #1 Actually, I have never lost my cool to the point of hitting a woman so I am staying on that high horse. #2 If I do lose my cool, it won't be because someone told me that I could use another beer. The lady he attacked reportedly wasn't even the one making racial comments. In my opinion, the only excuse for losing you cool and physically going after someone is if your family or loved ones are in immediate danger. It was a bad incident, hopefully it doesn't happen again. He should be able to eat at a restaurant without hearing racist comments. That being said, a 25 year old woman should also be able to have a meal at that same restaurant with her family without fear of physical violence. There is no excuse/rationalization for what he did.
  11. Stop apologizing for him. He deserves to have his name dragged through the mud for choking a girl and pushing around her 50+ year old dad. Alot of people have been provoked or had too much to drink but they didn't end their night by choking and throwing around women. Maybe he is auditioning for a spot on the Portland Jailblazers team. Once again, how nice of a person can you be if you are capable of such an action?
  12. Another person that uses violence to solve problems should be a real asset to the GF community if he stays.
  13. Anyone else notice how UND is using the term Force of the North on a pretty regular basis for football and hockey? Is this a type of contingency plan in case the lawsuit doesn't work out as planned? I hope that I am wrong.
  14. I hope that you are right with the death penalty. But all it takes is one indecisive juror to prevent the death penalty.
  15. There is nothing wrong with setting your own trend, but jeez, get a thicker skin. People are just having fun with you. List of things that a guy deserves to be made fun of: 10) Smoking a cigarette while riding a bike (pedal bike) 9) Wearing smaller size pants than necessary and having your gut just flop over your belt line 8) Driving a Geo Metro 7) Wearing "wife-beater" shirt in public 6) Wearing Zubaz or sweatpants in public 5) Getting a perm (guy) 4) Masking tape to hold glasses together 3) Hairpiece that resembles a dead animal 2) Beard that doesn't fill in right 1) Long hair
  16. I'll bring the marshmallows.
  17. How does Mihulka compare to Grant Potulny at this point in their careers? It seems to me that Mihulka may be one of those guys that was good in high school, not highly recruited by colleges, but would bring a ton of hard work and intangibles to UND.
  18. Regarding treatment, I will agree that perhaps there is a chance for rehabilitation depending on what the crime/behavior was. For example, the guy or girl that views child porn over the internet. I suppose you could say that since they never physically hurt someone or physically imposed their will on someone, then maybe you can help them. They have not crossed the point of no return. The people that do not deserve even a chance at rehab are the rapists, child molesters, etc. People that have used force to commit these crimes. I'm sorry but once you have put a knife to someone's throat and sexually assualted them, you have crossed that line of no return. You have proven that you have enough evil in you to perform such a heinous crime and rehab is a waste of time. Some people are just born evil and some are raised in a way that makes them evil. The only thing that a psych professional can help in these type cases is their own personal bank account.
  19. Refusing treatment should mean no consideration for parole
  20. With some more accountability, I bet you would be much more careful who you give the okay to. You are not defending Rodriguez, but by being wrong (what seems to be a large percentage of the time) you are giving criminals like Rodriguez the "ability" to commit more crimes. If they are incarcerated or in a hospital, they can't commit more crimes right? And in the issue of fairness, since you are in this field, what is the success rate at rehabbing sex offenders? Not very good from what my few psychologist friends tell me.
  21. If he starts his career with Phoenix rather than the wild, he probably makes the NHL. The Wild screwed him over in my opinion.
  22. I think the only bigger idiots on KFAN than Tim and Swyg are the people that call their show. Three hours of Tim and Swyg talking about how they have a crack in their sidewalk that needs fixing is not very entertaining. They probably should put K-Dog on the payroll. He is the most interesting part of the show (and I will stop to listen) because you never know when he will get frustrated and start swearing.
  23. Just ask DaveK for a Flyers roster. Those are the only players in ND that will be enjoying success for the next 25 years.
  24. First of all, Fargo South already draws from a large area of potentiial players. A new South end school should have their own sports teams. Maybe if Fargo got rid of Fargo North, then they could just roll with one team, Fargo South, and they could win the state hockey title like once every five years instead of once every ten years. That being said, the Grand Forks dynasty is alive and well. Hats off to Fargo South for winning it this last year, they had a talented bunch. However, one title ever ten years or whatever it was, does not mean that South has ended the Grand Forks dominance. Regarding transfers, Grand Forks schools have been known to hurt each other with open enrollment. I have heard that the Lamoureux's were in the RR district but went to Central. Going father back, how good would the Central teams have been in the mid 1990's if Mark Bry and Paul Murphy had gone to Central (they are both from Manvel) instead of Red River? Central would have put a team on the ice that included 4 future Sioux players (Panzers, O'Connel, and Murphy). When is the last time that Fargo South had to worry about a kid leaving to play at Fargo North?
