  1. Dean Blais is a hot commodity in his area of expertise. I don't know if the same can be said for Glas. At least now maybe Glas can get a few more cracks at some of the DAC-10 teams that he couldn't beat while at the helm of UND
  2. Wow. Seems like a pretty big step down.
  3. That is a good idea. I think the frustrating part about the 6 men on the ice non-call is 1) the 6th guy actually scored the goal and 2) all 6 guys were relatively near the play. It's not like the extra guy was on his way to the bench right away and just didn't get there in time.
  4. Once again, you are a little off. A player shot that puck that hit the post. If that player's skill was just a little bit better on that given play, he could have scored. Strictly in the hands of the player. A player has zero control when the other team gets away with 6 men on the ice and scores a goal. Great game, stuff happens and this was one of those times, it is just too bad it was the championship game and had such a direct bearing on the outcome. Grafton played a great game. At least a Fargo team didn't win.
  5. Faulty logic. Your examples all include player performance. This was example of an outside force (referee) that had nothing to do with the effort or skill of the players on the ice. Yes it happens, but it doesn't change the fact that the refs helped change the direction of this game.
  6. If you can't beat a one line team, no matter how good that line is, you don't deserve to win. I will say though, the frustrating thing about the non-call on the too many men is this. If the refs had completely missed it, and went straight to center ice to drop the puck, so be it, one could say it was just a completely missed call. The fact that they discussed it for so long afterwards, indicates to me that at least one of them knew what had happened, but didn't have the balls to wipe out the goal and make the correct call at such a big game.
  7. Because if they called it Mr. Hockey, Demers would deserve it. That is why they designate it best senior player now I guess. It seemed like Demers was out there as much as the two big d-men for Red River. that kid is a difference maker and look out if he plays his senior year for Grafton.
  8. For at least one night, UND's 10% society will have to change their name to the 15% society.
  9. This has huge potential (snicker, snicker). Heck, WNBA draws like 2,000 or 3,000 a game in major markets, they should do really good in a small market town that only cares about hockey.
  10. At least one guy figured out where Nodak is on a map and that it was -35 below recently!
  11. I like Duncan. Duncan is a very good player. Duncan seems to be a very good person too. Thank god he did what was best for the team and came back. Unfortunately, the best move for him as an individual, would have been to jump ship after last season. Everyone here remembers Bryan Lundbohm. Lundbohm left early because he realized that he would never duplicate the stats he had playing with Jeff Panzer that year. Most people must have realized that Toews/Oshie were responsible for much of Duncan's success. Once again, don't jump all over me because I like Duncan and he knows how to score when he gets the puck around the net which is a gift. However, he for the most part is not the type of player that creates his own shot, he needs to be set up.
  12. I think the kid deserves props. Hey , he has basically made it through one whole high school season without quitting. Baby steps you know.
  13. Maybe Glas wants to come back so he can run the rest of the progams into the ground to?
  14. Regardless of the score, I guarantee you that the Sioux will have twice as many penalties as the Gophs over the series. It never fails in Mpls that the Sioux are fighting bullsh*t calls like three straight against them in 3rd periods of close games. Happens every time. The one time that a guy tried to call a fair game (which was even in Grand Forks) he was suspended (Kleven).
  15. My point exactly. They let the play flow more rather than chopping it up with bullsh*t penalties.
  16. Even at the youth level (pre-HS) Fargo refs don't know how to put their whistles away. It's not so much that it's biased, they just think that every big hit must have been an elbow or charge. Grand Forks refs seem to let things go more.
  17. I don't know if anything would be gained by adding Lee back. Handling the puck doesn't mean much if you are too scared to go in the corners and get hit. Marto and Lapoint are already playing at Lee's level.
  18. I must say that I do have an issue with the Herald plastering Oshie's mugshot in the paper. Unnecessary. Maybe a little blip in the sport section since people want to know what the suspension is for. It is a pretty sad statement when the Herald and WDAZ have nothing better to report on. Why couldn't the Herald just post a hockey picture of Oshie along with the story? Regarding this site, I think discussion of the incident is fair game since it is a dedicated fan site. I am guessing that there are some "local celebs" (non UND hockey players) that get in trouble from time to time (i.e DUI's) but we never see their mugshots on the front page.
  19. Actually, didn't Goren have some sort of altercation at a bar too while he was here?
  20. On the topic of why a UNH player was out partying in downtown Grand Forks, I heard a story that back in the day, Dave Spehar showed up at a frat party on the UND campus after a game. I also heard that he got the snot beat out of him. Did anyone else ever hear this? Personally, I am surprised that opposing coaches don't keep a better tab on players i.e. make them stay in the hotel.
  21. He might have to in order to pay attorney fees if he keeps getting in trouble.
  22. Not much good can happen outside a downtown bar at 2am in the morning.
  23. Actually, it doesn't matter either way. DII or even DIAA (or subdivision, whatever you want to call it) doesn't do much for me. Even if you win, there are literally 50 or 60 teams that are better than you on the top end of DI. Kind of like winning a consolation title, yeah it's a title, but not really. I am pretty much a hockey guy. If the Sioux mens hockey wins a title, you know they were the best since it is DI. All kidding aside, Lennon does about the best a guy can do, given his situation. However, the chappel playoff issue was probably one of the bigger mistakes of his tenure.
  24. If the basement is filling with water, you don't necessarily have to be a plumber to figure out you're screwed. With a large second half lead against a team that has shown nothing, it doesn't take a coach to figure out you don't keep playing your obviously injured star running back. LA LA LA
  25. What? Does Southern Illinois have a top level running back that Lennon can play injured well into the third quarter of a playoff game that is already in hand thoroughly destroying any chance at winning the next week? If not, he may not be interested.
