  1. The hockey team is what most fans on this blog associate with UND but most fans on this blog are not all in tune with UND Alumni. UND fans like fans everywhere else, will jump on a winner's bandwagon. UND fans will fill the Alerus and the Betty if the FB team starts winning conference championships and making the playoffs and having success in the playoffs. UND fans will follow them in FB and BB as long as long as they are winning. Kelly, Faison and frankly, our Alumni Assn. have attached no urgency to our athletic recovery. Our friends to the South had a president who not only made FB and athletics a priority, he made it the top priority right behind his ego and his own salary and perks. They also have done a superb job of marketing, for both athletics and the school. At the same time, there has been tremendous economic growth in Fargo and they have capitalized on relationships with Fargo businesses and community leaders. MSUM and Concordia are non factors now in FM area. We have a number of hockey only fools who never understood the importance to hockey of great academics, along with success in other sports. It has been quite some time since our last Nat. Champ in hockey and no matter how the Big 10 hockey is struggling this year, the breakup of the WCHA hurts us with loss of the traditional powers and rivalries. Arizona State and hopefully others can help fill that void. Our hockey fans right. Now are not what they were. We had hundreds of empty seats last night with 2 of the best teams in the country facing off. Except for the stupid " who's he, he sucks sh.. " chant when Duluth was introduced, I wouldn't have known we had a student section. The AG trolls will be here to crow just like our trolls who go there would do if the roles were reversed. Who cares? They are people who don't have enough going on in their own lives to feel good about, without wasting time on this blog and aren't smart enough to know how stupid it makes them look. Don't waste time with the hockey vs other sports. Focus on supporting our hockey team and an 8th title and contributing to the momentum we are starting in FB, WBB, MBB and VB.
  2. Disappointed it doesn't include helmets. Alumni would cover the cost within 2 weeks. Adidas rep should push that issue. Someone needs to slap Faison on the back of the head ala Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
  3. Mollberg and Labat led Detroit Lakes to Minn. State BB tourney. Labat won opening tip by out jumping DeLaSalle 6'7" big man who I believe plays for Northwestern. Mollberg scored 20. Mollberg finished career as leading scorer in school history surpassing Minn Viking receiver Adam Theilen.
  4. You are correct.
  5. If that is true I would expect Faison would have a meeting with the coach and inform him of the contract and point out it is the AD's job to secure these contracts and the coach's job to coach. Hopefully all coaches had the opportunity for input and once the contract is settled on, the coach's are told the details. No longer debatable. Makes no difference which coach of which team.
  6. No question that should have been 15 yd unsportsmanlike call on Bryant. Typical Bryant gaffe. He is a loose screw. Didn't see any league explanation of that no call which was worse than the pass interference fiasco.
  7. I wonder if the Duck Dynasty Dad or Terry Bradshaw called him to congratulate.
  8. Watching the game, I thought it was clearly pass interference. Watching replay, it was a close call. I wonder if the flag was thrown for face guarding. If so, I don't believe that was accurate. The Dallas guy had his left hand in contact with the receiver, but didn't raise both hands up making it look like face guarding until after ball got there. I think he raised them trying to show he wasn't touching the guy. The fact there was contact could have drawn the flag but NFL refs are so inconsistent, this sometimes gets called and sometimes not. I haven't reffed in about 30 yrs but I would have thrown the flag and wouldn't have let someone talk me into picking it up.
  9. Mollberg walking with protective boot. Hopes to be full go late spring but won't do spring ball.
  10. Still recruit 9 man. If a kid can play he can play.
  11. NCAA has no authority over Bradley. They might send a note to NDSU officials reminding them they are responsible for their Alumni and boosters. This isn't a big deal unless they keep doing it and it becomes more public
  12. Don't respond unless he moves it to the UND Ag school thread.
  13. You don't seem to understand. There is a thread for this discussion under other sports. That is where to compare UND and the Ag School. Some of your questions are ok . In answer to your questions that fit on this thread, we need to recruit the kids who will help move the program forward and win games and championships. We will go after area and local kids and get them when we can, but we are still going after the best kids we can get, who fit this program and coaching philosophy that put us in the best position to win. The coaches and most of us don't waste time comparing. We have lots of needs and this staff seems to be doing a good job of doing just that. Most of the commitments so far are N. Dak., Minn. and Manitoba kids.
  14. UND recruited him. He went elsewhere.
  15. Not quite and that also belongs on the UND Ag school thread
  16. Yup and Mussman didn't offer even though alumni who knew the kid recommended him. Bohl didn't offer him either. Both schools were wrong, but the AC was lucky and got a great kid.
  17. No it won't. This belongs on the UND Ag school thread.
  18. Would want the best player. Dumb question. If they can handle the academics and don't have behavior issues doesn't matter which school they come from.
  19. Should have been offside. You are right cuz as soon as O-line reacted or got hit, play should have been dead. Announcers claimed d line jumping isn't excuse for RB to move but I thought play should have been over.
  20. Lacy had control of the ball and as soon as he is touched ball is dead. Longstanding rule.
  21. No comparison. He needs to heal and with a better oline, running game, and receivers who run the right routes, don't drop the ball and will attack every ball thrown their way, he will win. So will Bartels and so will Studsrud given time to mature. Our problem this year when Mollberg and Bartels were healthy wasn't the QB. Time will tell. I don't know what happened to Mertens, sometimes you aren't a good fit for a school or system. He might have had success elsewhere but I didn't pay attention to what was going on at the AC. Smart kid, good athlete.
  22. I believe he is recovering nicely. Should be ready for fall fb if things continue going as expected.
  23. The Ag school trolls have a point if we are losing recruits we have offered to St. Thomas. Might be an academic scholarship deal but I'm not sure about this. Anyone else offer him?
  24. I think Bartels will be number one coming out of spring practice. Studsrud number 2. Studsrud hasn't had time to mature and will need to prove himself as number one in spring ball to have a chance at #1. If Studsrud is number one, I would expect Bartels to transfer. If Mollberg is healthy, he is our best QB. It isn't fair to Studsrud to expect him to move ahead of Bartels this spring and certainly not fair to Bartels to move him behind a freshman who completed less than 40% of his passes (or whatever his final number was). He did a good job under difficult circumstances and hopefully will develop into our QB of the future. Bartels has earned the right to be #1 going into spring ball. We can't afford to lose him with the injury to Mollberg. Until Joe is healthy I think Bartels is clearly the guy.
  25. No loophole, no alumnus, booster, college professor, or others who have a connection to the college in question, are allowed to contact students. That includes former players and coaches. Same thing that got Nanne and Sonmor in trouble when they contacted Pariese. It is clearly a violation. Rule is clear. Former players and Fighting Sioux club members are reminded of this rule annually. The recruit could contact an alumnus but the alumnus can't initiate the contact.
