  1. I guess I will put it in terms even gfhockey will understand. There is a greater chance he will quit drinking before Mollberg transfers. Glad I wasn't at Judy's when someone spouted that nonsense. The kid came here with the idea he wanted to be part of turning this program around. He will still do that if he can heal from his surgery. He hung in there along with Bartels taking some pretty good shots and never threw his linemen under the bus. Bartels did the same til he got hurt. These guys have enough to worry about than the drivel from people who can't hold their liquor without making fools of themselves.
  2. Correct. Not sure how anyone looks at a kid who didn't complete 50% of his passes and states he is the front runner. Bartels has shown he is a much more effective QB when he is healthy. One blogger commented Mollberg won't be back by fall?? Not sure where they got that but if they meant he likely won't be back this spring they are correct. Rehab is 4-6 months not years. I think Bartels comes out as front runner after spring ball.
  3. How do we solve the title IX issue? We lose money on a lot of things. We need women's sports cuz it's the right thing to do. Women's sports aren't preventing us from being successful in other sports. We need to work harder and we need to develop a strong group of alumni who are going to help our women's sports develop and grow. We have a lot of successful women alumni both athletes and fans. Don't need to cut anything, need to step up fundraising if we are short in other sports.
  4. Would have been nice had Mollberg and Bartels had someone last year to learn from. I think Mollberg and Bartels are capable with a supporting cast, and continued success running the fb. I think jury is out as to whether either can carry the team, but I think both can be very good when given capable receivers and time to throw. I agree Studsrud will need to develop. I don't see him ahead of either of these guys when both are healthy. Would be nice if we can get a redshirt year from him next year.
  5. Good Lord that's not a shot, I'm just pointing out you don't see what I see. Doesn't mean I'm right and you are wrong. What matters is what Bubba sees. I think we agree on one thing, we want what is best for Sioux fb. I did stick up for Joe and also Bartels and Studsrud cuz the team aspect of this game is so important to their individual success and the success of this program. I'm not going to be upset if someone else is a better QB than Mollberg and starts ahead of Joe. I think if they are they will be pretty good. I'm just a guy on a blog and no more a fb mind than you or anyone else. I sure as he'll couldn't coach anymore. At the end of the day, we got better as the season progressed. When you take into account the injuries and late start recruiting with defections, dismissals and lack of depth, this is a program on the rise. Go Sioux and happy Thanksgiving.
  6. If we aren't capable of supporting women's athletics, we aren't capable of supporting intercollegiate athletics.
  7. Move those stupid comments to the Fire Hak blog. As Chris Porter said, he and a lot of former Sioux players can't believe we have fans dumb enough to keep saying that.
  8. Joe was developing this season as a QB and a leader. Just like Jer Garmin who so many people threw under the bus, as the oline developed, so did Joe and Garmin. I don't think it is fair to throw either Mollberg or Bartles under the bus. Oline was maturing and developing along with them. Studsrud hung in there and hopefully will benefit from the experience. If Mollberg can't come back, Bartels is a very capable QB if you give him time and receivers, but same goes for Joe. I know you don't see it but Bubba and the staff did and that is all that matters. Doesn't matter how much hype a kid comes in with. Once they are here they need to adjust to the speed, size and skill at this level. Doesn't matter who started this year, if someone else develops at a faster rate or someone else struggles, Bubba and staff will go with the guy who gives us best chance to win. If Bartles and Mollberg are both healthy, we have 2 decent QB's and a promising young kid in Studsrud. We still need 2 more quality recruits at QB.
  9. Great job by oline over course of season. Went from a big part of the problem to a big part of the solution. Evidence of how important the oline is to a fb team and how that is maybe toughest position to be able to play right away. Also shows how important line is to RB and QB. Garmin was same guy all, season but shows what a difference oline makes. If we are going to be successful the oline must protect the QB and open holes. We have some good looking oline and RB recruits coming in. Big need at RB and receiver. Great opportunity for recruit to come in and play right away esp hc kid who can get here for spring ball. Bartels and Mollberg need to get healthy. Bartels should be ready and Mollberg reportedly ahead of schedule. If one of those guys can't play or isn't here we need at least 2 QB recruits. We also need to be working extensions for Bubba, Schmitty, Maurice and others. Ceislak should contribute next year. We have some very good young kids on def. need more depth at db and both lines. Fun to watch these kids develop. Great job by Bubba and staff. Time for fans to step up and be part of this rather than wait until they are sure we are there.
  10. Brian seems to have an arrogance about him that may not be what he intends to portray but he walks by people whom he has met, has had dinner with, and taken checks for thousands of dollars in donations and doesn't say hello. If he doesn't even acknowledge those donors how does he interact with students and fans who maybe are very loyal but don't have the ability to give? The AD must understand the importance of social interaction and have the social skills to make the students and casual fans feel as important as the donors. Unfortunately I'm afraid that is what he does, he ignores them too. By now he should have noticed the inactive scoreboards at the Alerus. By now he should have realized we need to improve student attendance at all of our athletic events including hockey. By now he should understand that today's fans especially students want to be entertained beyond the game on the ice, the court or the field. He needs to understand he can play a role helping the Champions Club folks raise the money needed to fully fund scholarships for all sports, men's and women's. He needs to understand the urgency in completing both phases of the new facility. Does this mean he isn't any good? No, he has been part of the move to Div. 1. The jury is still out on the success of the new hockey league. If we get ASU admitted then that creates momentum to grow the league with schools and programs that can attract better media contracts. I don't see the media coverage as good as it had been. Our local cable used to broadcast every home FB and hockey as well as many home MBB and WBB. He has his strengths and weaknesses like all of us, I would like to see him improve both. Not sure he is best we ever had.
  11. Non-contact cardiac condition. No warning signs, previously undiagnosed.
  12. Studsrud has been a gamer. He hung in there yesterday against pressure and didn't turn the ball over. I think he has a chance to develop into a decent QB. He will start only if Mollberg isn't healthy and Bartels doesn't return. Give the kid some time to mature as a player. He was number 3 cuz he has a way to go yet. Oline will need to continue to improve before you see the real potential of any of these three guys. Bartels likely will come out of spring ball as starter because Mollberg may not be ready to participate in full contact. Mollberg's injury is an injury that takes at least 4-6 months to heal. That puts it into April and there would be no reason to risk injury late spring. Bartels, when healthy, had plenty of poise but also threw ball much better and has a lot more experience than Keaton. They may consider red shirting Studsrud if both Bartels and Mollberg return and are healthy.
  13. I see you were at the party for Dallas. I didn't see anyone sauced enough to be you. I also didn't see Faison there which means he doesn't get it. He should have stopped by. Had nice visit with Roger Thomas and Bubba. Roger told great story about Mark Poolman and how he is only player to get game ending injury during coin toss. Poolman and Mike Schmatz who both played fb for Roger, now have kids playing hockey at UND. Those guys have a great coaching fraternity and give up an awful lot to coach with only a slim chance at the big time. Sioux FB is in great hands right now. Tide is turning.
  14. Agree. Gfhockey and his gobc might need to call them on the carpet. I think Kelly understands that inter collegiate athletics is important to a University. I don't think he understands how important with regards to the positive marketing, donations and student enrollment. If he did he would be putting the pressure on Faison to step it up both with the timetable, quantity and quality of support for the entire athletic dept.
  15. Impressive win. Garmin showed if you give him some room he can run. He isn't the kind of RB who breaks tackles, he reads blocks and makes guys miss. We gave up some big third down conversions but we had guys with the receivers. They need to attack the ball but last year we had guys all by themselves on those plays. We did get fooled on their long TD but the comeback is something this coaching staff can look back on as a turning point. You guys need to lighten up on Rudolph. The oline has slowly improved over the course of this season and have given us some semblance of a running game. Studsrud did what they needed him to do. He didn't turn the ball over and didn't panic on the last drive. Defensive line did great job and our younger kids are improving game to game. Didn't like KO coverage but we had good punt coverage and hang time on punts. We had only 9 guys on the field when they botched their punt and we ended up with ball inside their 10. Those things can't happen. Didn't like the pass interference called on us by side judge from 30 yds away nor the holding on Tilman near end of game on their third down. Same guy made both calls. Bubba said that crew does decent job but he was too far away to yell at the guy. Disappointing turnout by fans esp students. They could choose to be part of this turnaround. Administration could help by making this more of an event experience. Don't think Faison understands that. I agree scoreboard management at Alerus is worthless. What is so difficult about posting current scores from around the country? Top 25 FBS, FCS, Big Sky and area teams of interest. We get the same 3 games with few updates. Are those people that clueless or don't they care. Good call on the win Gundy.
  16. Don't read anything into this. Too many schools pressure these kids to commit early and tell them everyone wants to go there cuz they are so good. They tell them they can't hold the scholarship so they need to commit on the spot. Kids may not have made all of their visits yet. Kid may have had interest from other schools and reconsidered. Kid hasn't signed yet so maybe wants to be honest about his interest elsewhere. When I was involved with recruiting we told kids to make their other visits and if they had a better choice then that is where they should go. I don't think we lost kids because of that.
  17. Yup, lost 2 so far.
  18. I stand corrected.
  19. Not necessarily. Mollberg was developing as a leader of this team and playing well before he was hurt. Bartels will be the starter if Mollberg doesn't heal fast enough. He will be the starter if he improves beyond how Mollberg improves. He must commit to staying here for either of those scenarios. Bubba will again choose the guy who gives us the best chance of being successful. What they have done to this point won't get them or lose them the starting position. What matters to date is that Mollberg has "struck" Bubba and the coaches as the better QB. Won't matter come this spring so I hope they both heal and they both improve. Whomever the starter is, give them time to throw and guys who catch the ball and a running game and we will probably be happy with either of them. Time will tell.
  20. Ag College in Fargo til they get beat again. No one else undefeated but this loss shows they are vulnerable. They have wins against decent teams this year and UNI is no slouch.
  21. So you are going to judge a kid who agrees to pull his redshirt for the good of the team because he is an inexperienced freshman who has a ways to go??? You think either the kid or Bubba wanted to do this? Mollberg who is 6'2" and 230 lbs lasted 8 games and Bartels who is 6'2" and 218 lbs lasted only 2 games. I hope the kid can survive 2 more games without getting hurt. I don't think you understand the difficulty all 3 of these guys have had to endure. They take a beating week after week. You expect them to stand in a collapsing pocket and make every play every time. You can't throw Studsrud under the bus. He should have 2 more years to develop. He is a good athlete with a lively arm. Judge him in a couple of years. Give either of the other 2 time to throw, a running game and receivers who can run the right routes and catch the ball, then criticize them. QB isn't the problem right now. If Mollberg is healthy he will be the QB. If Bartles stays, and heals he will be the QB if Mollberg isn't healthy. Watch the FCS games or the NFL games. The best QBs in the game don't play as well without a surrounding cast of players who can block, pass protect, run the ball, catch the ball and hang on to the ball. I disagree you are calling it "like it is". I don't think you are taking into account that no QB is much good without his teammates. You are calling it as you see it just like I am and the rest of us rubes who contribute to fan blogs.
  22. Here are some keys that I believe are essential to our success . We have some kids here who can play. We need to get more quality kids and we need to allow the kids we have develop. We have a good start to 2015 recruiting but we need to continue to get quality kid to fill out the 2015 class. We need some key transfers and some key JUCO kids. We need to fast track the indoor practice facility and especially get phase 2 started within the next year. This needs to be a priority for the University as well as the athletic dept. This facility must be designed to upgrade our speed and strength and conditioning for all sports. If also needs to be a research facility for not just Sports Medicine, kinesiology and excercise physiology but occupational health and work related injuries. Include that in the plan, involve the med school and attract oil money with the plan to study prevention, treatment and rehab for oil industry related injuries. That facility is one of the major keys to our success in Div 1 moving forward. I don't believe we are as far away as some but I may be wrong.
  23. I stayed at home last night.

    Measure 5

Tell her you are buying it for Lakes Bison.
  25. Sounds like 2 wide receivers may be hanging it up. Hope coaches and teammates can get them to reconsider. We have little depth now and can't afford to pull more red shirts.
