  1. The Bleacher Report has given it's 2012 Season Preview. UND is ranked #6 http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1157321-big-sky-conference-football-2012-spring-power-rankings#/articles/1157321-big-sky-conference-football-2012-spring-power-rankings/page/2
  2. I've move on passed the anxious phase to the "I will believe it when I see dirt being moved" phase.
  3. According to Ira's post, $15.6 million has been pledged. Is that what your asking?
  4. The NCHC plans to make a couple "big" announcements by next week. Speculation is the news will relate to conference tourney and Director of Hockey operations. http://www.uscho.com/2012/04/24/nchc-planning-two-pretty-big-announcements-in-coming-week/
  5. I was thinking the same thing when we went FCS. I figured we could get schools such as Maine, New Hampshire, etc to play in home and homes with...unfortunately that has never happened.
  6. I did find this article which basically states that they will not use any Native American Imagery. http://www.bradleybraves.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=3400&ATCLID=271847 I guess that the watch period must have ended after 5 years and that was that. I just figured there would have been some sort of announcement from the ncaa making it official. I did find this kind of entertaining though... In a quick google search of Native American studies or Indian studies, you will find UND has an Indian Studies Program (geared towards Native Americans). Meanwhile, Bradley has an Indian Student Association (geared toward people from India). All I could find was a couple of classes on Native American literature being offered by Bradley.
  7. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what happened with the Bradley Braves? In 2005, they were removed from the "hostile and abusive" list but were place on a 5 year "watch" list due to their "Braves" nickname. I searched briefly on the internet but haven't really found anything. There was this article from 2010 talking a bit about their situation. http://thesouthern.com/news/local/state-and-regional/article_e1aceeec-42b8-11df-ae85-001cc4c03286.html
  8. I'm just happy we are getting the Field turf. The field we played on the last 12 years at the Alerus Center never had a logo at mid-field and we did just fine. Sure it would be nice to have and perhaps it can be added down the road. I'm still excited about the field turf and the Big Sky (logos). As far as "Alerus Center" being on the field, they aren't the first nor will they be the last corporation to buy naming rights and put their name on a playing surface. Look at all the advertising on the ice and the boards at the Ralph. No one seems to mind that...granted they have a beautiful logo at center ice, but there is still advertising plasterd all over the playing area.
  9. Yep... you just needed to go back a bit in this thread...
  10. My vote would be to rotate between the X and Denver or Omaha if Denver doesn't work.
  11. Understandable...I wasn't arguing or defending Idalski. I was just curious as to why the Twins chose to transfer.
  12. He's actually posted on this site a few times...here is the thread about his blog... http://forum.siouxsports.com/topic/16586-big-sky-bb-blog/
  13. I do not follow the women's program, so I have no idea if this is accurate or not. I do have one question though, didn't the Lamoureux twins transfer to UND because of Idalski? Or was more because of the former coach leaving?
  14. I have no problem supporting SL lawsuit. Voting to keep the name in June does not help their lawsuit. If I had the opportunity (I'm a Minnesota resident), I would vote in favor of dropping the name. Then let the lawsuit play out and see what happens. Retire the name now and see how the SL lawsuit plays out. If there is a chance to reinstate the name down the road, great! If not, then move on. No need to take the decision away fromt the University, which is what the vote is doing.
  15. So if their lawsuit gets thrown out this week, will you admit it's time to move on?
  16. Exactly...I am a huge University of North Carolina Tar Heels fan. If, for some reason, they were voting whether or not to keep the "Tar Heel" name (and I lived in NC, I would abstain from voting. Why? Because I did not attend school there and have no connection other than I like Carolina Blue and the Nickname Tarheels. I would hate to see it go, but I would not help in ruining their school over my own selfish reasons.
  17. I understand that FSU has support from the Seminole tribe. My thoughts are that if the Federal Government comes out and says that Native American nicknames such as the Sioux are offensive, all it would take is a few Seminole tribe members to be offended and take FSU to Federal Court...where a precedent (forcing retirement of the Sioux Name) would be set. Thus I don't believe the Federal Courts will take action on it at this time. I am no lawyer so I really have no idea if this is what would occur...
  18. Wouldn't that just open up a huge can of worms for alot of other schools? Wouldn't that make FSU have to retire their name as well? I don't see the Federal court getting involved at this point...at least not at this point.
  19. I thought I heard or read something about the "line up" card that's typically posted on the glass behind the benches either referenced the "Fighting Sioux" or had a logo. Am I close?
  20. Ok...guess I was wrong that some DII and DIII programs are competing at the DI level. Who knew? I am not afraid to admit my ignorance when it comes to wrestling. The only difference is that Wrestling has a DII and hockey doesn't I guess. Both hockey and wrestling have DI and DIII championships
  21. Not to stick up for the bison but your comparison is not the same. In hockey, DII and DIII play at the DI level (ie Colorado College, St. Cloud St. Etc). For wrestling, champions are crowned for DI, DII, and DIII.
  22. Makes sense. The USD release said their visit was in September.
  23. Has UND submitted their Self Study yet? I wouldn't read too much into this, at this point anyway.
  24. I don't know too much about Drake but in looking at their schedule this year, we have one common opponent with them in Bradley. Bradley only has 7 wins this year including their victory over us. Drake is 3-0 against the Braves this year. Drake has also beaten Air Force and Iowa State this year. According to ESPN, Drake is a 13 point favorite. We are going to have to play our best road game of the year if we want to win tomorrow night.
  25. Looks as though the Sioux women will also be on the road for their first game. They will be playing at Seattle U. on Thursday. At first glance, this game would seem to be winnable for the ladies. Good luck! http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/231926/group/homepage/
